    Always Hungry im scared.

I am hungry every hour or two as well. Some people are lucky and the hunger is gone. Some (like us) are not. I am 2 months out and I have to have a snack every two hours. I track everything and try to eat less than 950 calories a day. Snacks are usually Protein dense things like Jerky. Almost 50 pounds lost from highest weight. Although I eat often it is coming off!!!

PS: this is a super high protein recipe that I really love. It sounds gross but is actually crazy good. I actually like it better than mayo based tuna salad. Hope you like it! http://minougirl.com/2014/01/skinny-greek-yogurt-tuna-salad/

Same here. I used to have tons of energy postop, but I have been dragging ass. I sometimes feel myself nodding off at work. No bueno. This was happening to me and doc said it was my low protein levels. When I upped my protein (over 100g is what I shoot for now) I felt a zillion times better. Hope that helps. Wow how do you manage 100g of protein? That's like 4 protein shakes a day for me. I have protein dense snacks with me at all times... Turkey jerky is awesome (cheap at Costco). Premier Protein for breakfast everyday, chicken or fish for dinner, sometimes salad or tuna for lunch, sometimes soup when I am feeling naughty. I basically felt horrible enough (I.e. Dragging and really tired) that I vowed I wouldn't eat calories unless there was a decent amount of protein in them. And I feel better, so there is incentive for me to keep it up and track it. I got 100 g or more in almost every day after my doc called and said my protein levels were low. But I'm more of a slacker now... Gotta be honest. I probably get more than 85g everyday though. And most days more than 90g. Everyone is different. Being anal about protein has made me feel lots better so it's working for me. It doesn't work for everyone though!

  5. I need help with portion sizes. Cutting to the chase, I am scared I will expand my sleeve. I am currently at day 40. I can eat two scrambled eggs with no problem in about 15 minutes. Have done so since about week 2. I think this is likely way too much food. Wondering if you guys have any advice for how to control portion sizes --- I mean like rules. i.e, "I only eat a half cup of this and I measure it", etc. Unfortunately I never lost hunger feeling post sleeve.... man that would have been nice! I also eat basically anything as long as I chew it up suuuuper well. The other day we were out of food at the house so I stopped and got an Egg McMuffin. To my horror I finished it. I ate slowly but I did finish it. I'm not worried about the calories. I track everything within an inch of its life on myfitnesspal. But I am just worried I am "undoing" the surgery. HELP! (Thank you!)

Veteran help needed pls! Portion size advice

Thanks guys! I am weird when it comes to fast food and restaurants. I haven't stayed away. Admittedly I only do fast food when I am starving and caught without the ability to make a Protein shake which isn't very often. Twice a month maybe? And then I only have something my dietician already said was okay to have if I'm in a pinch. I have to admit that we go out to Breakfast quite often. Like every weekend. I log what I am about to order into myfitnesspal and then don't feel bad because I know how much protein and calories I will be consuming. Is that bad? Is there a trap I am falling into that I should be wary of? Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I really do value your experience and advice!

    What does it feel like?

My sincere suggestion is to get through the emotional stuff before your surgery. Delay surgery if you need to. This isn't a sure-shot way to be thin and healthy... You have to work at it very hard and if you don't stick to the plan you can and WILL make yourself very sick. To answer your question though, a sleeve feels like someone replaced your stomach with a two year old's stomach. Thirsty? Don't guzzle Water.... That won't work. Hungry? (I never lost the hunger part post op) well, don't eat too fast or too much because you will HATE yourself when your stomach is too full. Feeling like you have no energy? You probably screwed up and haven't been taking your Vitamins. Want a pop? Beer? Bummer, because that has carbonation and will stretch your sleeve. Want some Pasta or chips? Well good luck eating something so low in Protein and so high in calories and still making your calorie and protein goals for the day -- not gonna happen! I want to reiterate that It is a LOT of work! You HAVE to be ready mentally. But man, if you stick to the plan, it is a crazy effective tool. Would I do it again? Yes..., a hundred times over. But my husband is overweight and he is considering surgery. He still struggles with being able to say no to candy sweets pop and beer. Until he can get his head in the game, I am going to try to talk him out if surgery every time. I sincerely wish you luck.
  8. I pick out what I am going to eat from my fitness pal before I even get in there. Then I know I have a high protein decent calorie option. Then I eat accordingly. Honestly? I like restaurants. I like the laid back pace and the social aspect. I just don't eat ANYTHING that I cannot track in my fitness pal....

    Michigan Sleevers

I just got done meeting with him literally 10 minutes ago. 4 weeks post op today. He is GREAT.
  10. So I am four weeks part op. I am discovering my batwings and I am not thrilled. I am embracing my 10000 steps, and also the elliptical. I am however NOT embracing the batwings. Um no. Any tips for how to do the right things to get rid of these bad boys while I still can?
  11. MetroDetroitChic

My batwings... (I want these babies to go away)

Lol. I am definitely headed in the whale-wings direction... So what does tons and tons of hard work mean? I'm not scared of hard work. I take Biotin and drink add much Water as I possibly can. But no luck on the genes.

    Post Op March 2014

I think my stall might have just ended. 21 lbs lost before the stall then nothing for 2+ weeks. I even gained about three pounds. I got frustrated and started waffling at least 10000 steps a day. That seems to have worked. But only three more pounds down as of this week. .. so maybe it's Water weight. Who knows. I'm shrinking in inches for sure. (Wearing regular sized 18 and XL for the first time in years.) Just not losing pounds!

    Who is in March?

Mine is finally breaking too. I was at 222 on day 6 (down a ton of weight. ) Then I was actually UP two more pounds. .. What the heck!!?! Now I am 221 as of this morning. .. day 19. The stall thing is very real. Glad it's going away.

    Who is in March?

I haven't lost a pound since day six. In fact, I have gained three. My calorie count is 750 or less..... What the heck??? It's starting to bother me to be honest. I figure I'll try to be chill for two weeks. Day 20... But then I'm going to be officially frustrated as hell.

    Who is in March?

I have never experienced this... And from the sounds of it... Holy crap! I NEVER want to. Yikes! This sounds absolutely awful!

GOOD JOB!!! That takes a lot of self control to be sure. You should be proud of yourself! Really proud!

    Who is in March?

My doc explained it to me yesterday, and I finally understood why we have all these rules. In weeks 2 and 3 I was told that we need to give anything to the stomach that requires it to do basically no work. This way we can give it a break and allow it to recover. So hence the reason for super puréed, basically already broken down foods. Hope that helps.

    Who is in March?

Nausea usually only happens for me when I get backed up. Make sure all of your systems are working if you know what I mean. That will make you feel tons better. Honestly? Week one I wanted to die. By day six I was a lot better though. I hope you feel better soon... As bad as it is this week, it is ah-MAY-zing the next week. I seriously feel great and it's only day 13. I sincerely hope you feel better soon!!!!! - Beth

    Who is in March?

Thanks for the notes guys!! My one way ticket into the hospital didn't pan out. Thank goodness. Test was negative. They think the pain is leftover from knee surgery last October. Although they DID say something very important today at the doctors.... DVTs are most likely to occur in the 2nd and third weeks. So as someone with a history of blood clots, I need to keep movin' this week!
  20. OMG yes... bigtime. When that happens to me I try some Miralax and some Water. Usually feel a bit worse then TONS better. Hope you are feeling better soon!

    Who is in March?

I am nervous. About to go get a (stat) Doppler Venus because the back fo my knee hurts. (That is not a good sign). If they do find a blood clot, it's gonna be a one way ticket back into that stupid hospital... Grrr. Why couldn't I be born a natural size 6???

    Who is in March?

Hey guys - I'm 14 days out and 16 pounds down. I think we all need to commit to not weighing ourselves for 7 days! We are driving ourselves crazy!!!! Anyone else?? I weigh myself about every four days or so I guess. There's no point. I know I am in a stall, and I know I am greatly limiting my caloric intake. So for sure I will lose --- eventually. I guess I weigh myself when another new piece of clothing fits. Lol. I know that sounds dumb, but when that happens, then I am curious.

    Who is in March?

Well I am pretty much positive I just invented the 6 day stall. Not joking. Six days after surgery I had lost a STUPID amount of weight... Like 19 lbs. and since then, not another pound. Regardless of the fact that I have only been eating about 500-600 calories of water and protein shakes. Not one single more pound. And it's been four more days. There is NO WAY my body isn't using these fat stores to keep everything going --- especially since I am only providing 500 calories a day and am trying to walk/move where possible. So yep, I'm betting money I discovered the world's shortest six day stall. Don't doubt yourself.... To not lose would defy physics. If you use more than you eat, you will lose --- eventually. Have faith.
  24. Ten days ago I weighed in at the hospital at 243. Six days later (when I was finally feeling okay) I thought, "let's jump on the scale and see what is happening". It read 224. I about died. 19lbs in six days. I don't know if I had a heavy stomach organ.... Or what. Lol! But after reading this thread, that seems very abnormal. Since then, I have lost about a pound. (Stall?) I get my Protein and Water in, so that can't be it. I'm anxious to hear what the doc says when I meet with them on Monday.

    Hives

I am so happy for me to see this message... So unhappy for you. I am on Day 10. I have hives as of yesterday. WANT TO DIE. Also on Lovenox blood thinner shots daily. They gave me one script Hydroxyzine for the anti itch. Problem is one dose outs me down for 12 hours! I got up for work and couldn't drive. I am basically trying to go back to my old diet which I know didn't cause hives. Stopping all Vitamins and meds except Prilosec and Lovenox. I don't have a choice for the blood thinners. How are you doing?
