I too shared fears and nervousness about having this procedure done and have done so much research. You are making a good decision and I know that everything is going to turn out okay for you . I have been up worried it is almost time for my surgery Monday and today I go for my EGD at 6:30am I can't sleep. I am scared crazy at this point about both my EGD and the actual surgery. My question is did everyone on here have to do a sleep study test. My surgeon office did a sleep study consult and submitted my paperwork to a sleep a study place but my insurance denied the claim saying it wasn't medically necessary. My co-worker went to the same surgeon and said she didn't do one either. But this is part of a pulmonary test I guess to see if you have sleep apnea. I am scared please answer if you know something. I think my mind is playing tricks on me the closer I get to the surgery date.

thank you everyone for responding. I am back home and the procedure well let me just say this I never even saw the room they pushed me in to do it lol. I was in la la land and asked if I could have more of the meds when I woke up #addicted lol. I am no longer scared I did ask about all of my concerns and all of my questions were answered and I feel very comfortable now.

I don't have none of the symptoms at all I was just curios if anyone did not have to do a sleep study and still had the surgery...thanks for listing all that great info....I am sure I will appreciate everything after the surgery I just don't know why I am so scared right now

I am right there with you I have not been able to sleep because of my nerves lol. I am excited one minute then scared the next. I think that this is normal to happen. I go for my EGD tomorrow and my surgery is scheduled for next Monday the 7th of October. I have been reading other peoples stories about their nerves and I think this is something that everyone goes through before they have surgery. Just know that you are in the best hands and say a prayer knowing that everything is going to turn out alright and this is your new beginning. My theme is "A Brand New World" and I am looking forward to it even through my nerves.

congrats I am happy for you. everything happens for a reason your delay was your blessing and I am sure that everything is is going to start falling into place for you. I like to say "I am exited about my future" the best has yet to come for all of us.

BCBS-GA

I have BCBS and the process went very fast for me...My PCP did all of my labs and EKG which made the process faster. I had my first consult on Aug 27 and everything was complete and submitted with the approval from insurance company for surgery on Sept 23 but I found out I was approved yesterday. My surgeons office is a one stop shop they set up 4 appointments in one day for me with one co-pay and then two appointments in one day with another co pay. Every appointment took place at one location seeing different people, even the psych doctor came to the surgeon's office to do appointment. I find out my surgery date Friday and the case manager said I may start my pre-op diet next week. Good Luck although my nerves are everywhere I am excited about my journey and I wish you all the luck.

lets see the list is long but I will name a few reasons...I would like to dance a full hip hop song with my daughter, walk up a flight of stairs on my cellphone and not have to end the call for being out of breath, to be healthier, live longer, do things I enjoy doing, not afraid of stores in the mall any longer, no longer hide behind my kids in pictures to hide majority of my body, to become more outgoing etc.....

I have been approved now I am nervous as crap thinking hey this is really going to happen . I was so anxious calling BCBS asking about my approval then today they said YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED and now I am like wow. I did everything in less than a month all the way from consult to approval I was determined. I look forward to becoming healthier but I am not sure why so many emotions. I am suppose to find out my surgery date this Friday. My emotions is starting to take over a brand new me with bad nerves right now.
