From Overeating to Drinking All Meals?
CarryOn7 replied to cmcrider's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm right here with you. I've tried way to many diets, had small success & then crashed & burned. It's taken my over a year for me to decide if this was the right decision for me, then sought out a Dr. I don't want to be sidelined anymore. If I don't get this under control, some sort of health issue will come up & there may not be a second chance. Best of Luck to Everyone going through their Journey's it's not easy, nor will it be, keep your eye on where you want to be. We'll make it. -

I thought I was the only one screaming in my car! I'm ready for a renewed life. -
What a Crazy past 24 hours.. I have looked through a few website & bookmarked them. I have watched a couple peoples stories & marked a few more to watch. Then as the Appointments came & went I didn't fully know if I was going to be able to do the surgery, or when. It took a lot of inner struggling to think is this the right choice for me. Then cold calling from the net to find No doctors even though the net said their were 5 around me. Finally found one 45min to an hour away, which I have come to find out is Nothing. Compared to lots of other people. I called & had to wait quite awhile to get in. honestly looking back I think it has been a good thing, its made me know what I want & how I will make this work. then going through the Doctor Appointments & Test. Then waiting.... Then Yesterday just before, their office closed I Got The Call! AND The Date! Sept 9, I just have to do my Blood Labs, but provided nothing major is found Full steam ahead. then reality hit.... They told me to start picking up things that I needed, Protein Shakes, Supplements & a few things that make the first couple months more manageable. I had not done it due to the fact if I couldn't do the surgery for whatever reason. Thank goodness I am old school & take notes as I watch peoples videos & read blogs & of course looking through the treads on this site. I have started ordering some things online & have a shopping list. I am nervous & excited at the prospect of a New future!

I am sticking with Vanilla. You can add flavoring as needed to change it up. I only bought 1 thing of it, to try it out & see how it taste. I figure I will have plenty of time to figure out what works. I just need to get some Sugar Free popsicles & Jello. Find some Broth the thought of that sound very unappealing. I am not a soup fan, but time will tell, it might be my FAVORITE. -

I figure the strips can't hurt. I will be Happy once this surgery is done. I always over stress. I guess it's better than being under prepared. Good Luck -
I mean nerves will play a huge factor. I don't think you'll even miss food or Water. *this is what happens using my phone. Still good luck to everyone. Can't wait till next month to start seeing results! To a Renewed Life! Sorry I can't figure out how to delete. This was suppose to be to another thread. Sorry this is what happens when I only use my phone. :/

I'm September 9th There's 2 things I've found that not a lot of people talk about for the hospital 1) a pillow for a couple reasons -after any major surgery there is gas build up, you have 5-7 incisions on your belly, or if you cough, & for the ride home to help block the seatbelt. 2) gas X strips. Not much explanation here, it doesn't take 100% but it's suppose to help A Lot. -

I posted this earlier in a different thread. I am going to start a low cal, low carb diet, that uses the Dry Meal rule. it gets you started for how you will eat from surgery on. 3 meals a day 700-800 cal 40-50 carbs 60-70 protein. breakfast 1 protein (pref a protein shake 20-30 grams) 1 fruit 1 dairy lunch 1 protein (pref another shake) 2 vegetables dinner 1 protein 2 vegetables Only proteins allowed:- protein shake or 3/4 C low fat cottage cheese or 2 whole eggs or 3 oz cooked meat (skinned, fat removed, not breaded not fried, no processed meats like bacon, ham, lunch meats, hot dogs etc) this protein is only when you really feel you need something more. red meats are longer to digest, chicken & seafood is better. Only dairy allowed 8oz 1% or skim milk 6-8oz light yogurt (no more than 20grams of carbs) 1 part-skim string cheese fruit & veg's best is fresh follow the serving size on them. no potatoes, no corn, no peas, or any other starch veg's can use frozen, the just recommend rinsing them. if you have to use canned drain & rinse. if & only if you need a snack, use a shake. make sure to count the calories & most of all that they stress a GOOD Multivitamin that has 100% of the RDA, Calcium 1200 mg w/ Vitamin D at least 400 IU make sure they are all chewable, gummy or liquid. *this diet isn't that bad. they say that its expected to be 12-20 lbs weight-loss in 2 weeks. , it's nothing like the liquid diets I have seen on here. no matter which diet everyone has GOOD LUCK! -

I wish I would have been kicked off a ride. instead the lady running the ride had my son & husband move so I could get in the bigger part of the ride, & she had to pretty much stand on the bar to get it to latch, in front of everyone to see. That is the day I made the decision to do something. it's taken me a year, but Sept 9 2013 I will take a huge step to be able to enjoy my life. I will never forget that day, crying in the bathroom & having to act like nothing was wrong for my family & friends. needless to say I had a lot of time to think & reflect. to solidify my knowing I made the right choice. my husband forgot about the year before & so I got to sit a couple weeks ago while they rode the rides. I had already been making my way through the process to do the surgery. maybe next year I will be the one to take the park by storm! I knew I was not the only person going through this. I am so sorry for everyones story. the good thing is we can all look forward & know where we want to be & know not to go back.

Sept 9 for me as well! it seems far away but the next thing we know it will be here.

I don't know if anyone is interested but there is a group on here called "September 2013 Sleevers" it doesn't hurt I figure then we might be able to have a better understanding of everyone who is in Sept. I think it would be a great idea as our journey's move forward. -

I'm scheduled on Sept 9 provided my blood labs are all good. So happy to have found this site one late night. I know I'm not the only one even though it feels like it at times. I'm also more stressed about the pre-op then the surgery. I know what the end result is I want just have to get there. Good luck to everyone when ever your surgery is. I don't have to start my diet till Sunday, but I thought I'd better start a shake in the mornings just to remind myself how they taste. Luckily my Dr dietitian said the Protein shake mix I had already had & used for a prior diet. She said it was fine. The biggest thing is to do your best to sticking to the guidelines of the diet. After the 4th day she says my body should submit to the diet & I should be fine. Whether or not everyone's different & time will tell. I just figure I will do my best to keep myself busy. Again Good luck to everyone! This will be a great step to renewing our life. -

I have been very nervous about all this, my surgery is scheduled for 9/9. So scary but the end result will be better than what we have all muddled through so far. The dietitian told me the first 3-4 day are the worst of the 2 week diet that I'll be starting soon. I'm planning on keeping my self busy with small things around the house to distract my frustration of a low calorie diet. I also have lots of YouTube videos book marked for helpful hints on how others made it through this. Along with probably tons of hours of reading things on this website. You can do this, we all stumble pick yourself up & brush yourself off tomorrow is a new day! Good luck.
