    A Surprise

I went for my third fill yesterday. I asked and found out that I have the new "Realize" Band by Johnson and Johnson and that it may take quite a few fills to get good restriction. I have a 10 cc band and now have 4.5 cc's in.

    Disgusted

I am just thoroughly disgusted with myself. I had my first fill on Nov 7th and feel like nothing is different. I can EAT. Tonight, I had McD's for dinner and ate a 6 piece nugget combo with a coke. I am not focused and I don't know why.

    Disgusted

If only there were a switch in the brain to make food untantilizing... I get another fill on Nov. 28th, and my fingers are crossed! Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone and thanks again for your comments, advice, and suggestions.

    Disgusted

FarmerE - In the past, a trip to McD's was just a combo - A BIG MAC combo! I was stuffed after I would eat that. Now, when I do have to have McD's, I usually get a happy meal or a grilled chicken wrap with a fruit and yogurt parfait. My biggest problem, and I am sure I am not alone on this, is that I am an emotional eater. I guess nearing the holidays has me under some kind of subconcious stress therefore I reach out for food. I am hoping exercise will help alleviate alot of the stress.

    Disgusted

I can't say enough how helpful reading your replies are to me. I feel so alone at times with this band, and it gets frustrating. But it does help so much to know that I am not alone, and that the feelings I have are normal. You are all right. Eating McD's is not healthy and I need to stop sabotaging myself. I am going to really focus on eating healthier and getting some exercise. We did go out for Breakfast at IHOP this morning and I had the Garden Scramble, which is a healthier alternative. Also, went grocery shopping and picked up a few lean cuisines for the week. I really do want to succeed and I can't wait until I get that "AHA" moment with the right restriction! Thanks for all of your feedback! :clap2:

    Overeating.....Stretching pouch?

Mandi - you have written my story. I am going through the exact same thing as you. Same thoughts and fears and overstuffing myself. I hope I have not done any damage. My first fill is November 7th.

    Self Pay Troubles

The cost of my surgery included the surgeon fees, anthesiologist's fee, and medical center fees, but now I am getting a bill from the anesthesiologist for triple the amount I was told I was to pay. Has anyone else had any problems like this?
  12. I was also having a constipation problem, Milk of Magnesia wasn't working for me. My Nurse Practitioner suggested Senokot-S. I used it and it took a couple of days but it finally worked.

    Overeating?? Please help!

Boy, can I relate. I had surgery the same day you did and had the same eating schedule afterward. I find that I can eat anything and in large quantities. I am trying to keep it to just 3 meals and no snacks. I did find myself bingeing the other night and swore that I would be good the next day. I too am afraid that I will stretch my pouch and I hope that I haven't done any damage. Good luck with your fill. Mine isn't until Nov. 7th.

    It's been 3 weeks....Update! :)

I have a question for Vanessa. I am 3 weeks post op and find that I can eat anything and sometimes in large amounts. I am so afraid that I am going to stretch my pouch. Is this possible to do at this stage? I am not scheduled for a fill until Nov 7th.

How much weight have you lost

I lost a total of 20 pounds with the pre-op diet and after surgery. I have gained 2 pounds but the doc said that I lost body fat and gained in fat free muscle! I thought I was sabotaging myself and got on the scale this morning. I haven't gained but I haven't lost either. Come on FILL!!!!!!!!!
  16. I read three books before surgery: Fighting Weight by Khaliah Ali Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies Lap Band for Life by Dr. Ariel Ortiz All were (and still are) a wealth of information. I particularly like the Dummies book. Very to-the-point. I too did not know that Carnie Wilson has a book out. I will definitely look for it!
  17. My surgeon requires all of his patients to undergo a sleep study. The reason being that when you go "under" if you have sleep apnea and stop breathing, then there may be trouble. If you are diagnosed with sleep apnea you must bring your CPAP with you to the hospital to wear during the surgery. Or at least that is what I understood him to say. Although I seriously doubted that I have sleep apnea, I did the study and was found to have a mild case and did not need a CPAP. I did fine with the anesthesia.
  18. I am also 3 weeks post op, but I am not physically hungry, just "head" hungry! I don't even think about eating until my internal clock says it's mealtime. I have not made the best choices, and I do not know if I have gained back any weight (20 pounds lost since pre op diet and after surgery) I am too scared to get on the scale. I thought I was the only one who could eat more than just mushy stuff. I mean I am eating meat, bread, rice...everything that they said we shouldn't. I am getting more than just satisfied at mealtime. Stuffed. I am so afraid that I am going to stretch my pouch. My first fill isn't until Nov 7th and I can't wait.
  19. I am two weeks post-op, and I can eat ANYTHING. Is this normal?:help:

    Sugar Free Ice Cream

When they told me I could eat pudding, I found Weight Watchers giant fudge bars. They are about 100 calories, 16 grams of sugar so I would have about 1/2 of one.
  22. I am now 11 days post op, and I can tell you that they encourage you to get up and move as much as you can. This helps with gas pains, and to make sure you do not encounter problems with blood clots. For me, the gas was so uncomfortable in my chest and back that I could not sit still for long. I had to get up and move around and when I did I felt better.
  23. I am 12 days post op, and am going back to work tomorrow (Monday). I planned on going back after 1 week, but I am glad I gave myself a few extra days to feel like myself again. Each day you will feel better and better. It just felt right for me.
  24. I am 6 days post op, and I ate half of a pint of egg drop Soup for dinner tonight. It went down okay, but I swear I can look down at my stomach and see a bulge right above my navel about the size of a small balloon. I feel STUFFED. I know, I know I should not have eaten all of that soup with egg. The egg was in tiny pieces, nothing to chew so I thought it would go right on down with the broth. I feel okay but am freaked about the bulge. Has anyone else ever experienced this?:help:

    S-t-u-p-i-d & Scared

I have been on full fluids now for two days, and tomorrow I can have oatmeal, veggie soup, Beans. My worst fear is band slippage! I guess I just panicked. Thanks so much for making me feel better!
