I WISH the office was still open, the other doctor in the practice decided to move out of state, so they completely closed their doors. I guess I'm going to have to do it though, no other choice. I called one doctor that a lot of friends referred me too. The first physical they could line up was in February! WTF! I just called my insurance coordinator and left a message, hoping she can refer me to someone who will help.

Hi Everyone, I started a blog on my journey to WLS and I was hoping to get a guest writer in from time to time - whether you are at the same place as me (pre-surgery) or 3 years post, I'd love to have you write a column about your journey. Let me know if you are interested! Shan:)

I haven't had the surgery yet, but have been a natural shedder my entire life. Biosil capsules have helped my hair (and my nails) tremendously!

It's possible that we may be having the surgery around the same time. My insurance only requires 3 NUT appointments and my last one will be in October. I think it depends on your insurance as to the sleep study, or maybe it depends on the Dr. you are using. I had to stay overnight, and I have to do a 2nd study with the CPAP machine because I do have sleep apnea. I think once you are approved, the surgery date has to be at least two weeks from that date because you will need to begin your two week pre-op diet. My cousin just got approved last week and her surgery is scheduled for 8/30. But again, that probably depends on your Dr. and how busy they are. GOOD LUCK with everything:)

Hi Everyone, My name is Shannon and I'm currently in the process of getting approved for the sleeve. I joined an online support group when I was having fertility problems and it really helped to keep me informed (and sane) so I thought I'd do the same for this new journey. I have three boys, ages 10, 3 and 18 months. I've stalked the site for a few days, looking at before/after pictures and decided to finally introduce myself. You guys are inspirational, and have got me totally pumped to have this procedure!!! I have CIGNA, which I hear can be a total PITA, so I'm hoping everything goes smoothly. Anyone else have CIGNA who wants to share some tips, it would be most appreciated:) I look forward to getting to know everyone, and hopefully I will be sharing my success story one day soon! Shannon:)

Thank you! And thanks to everyone else for their welcome:) My insurance coordinator is wonderful and has been doing this for a long time, so hopefully that works in my favor. I'm just above BMI 35 but I do have sleep apnea, which is hopefully my green ticket in. My biggest concern right now is the physician evaluation. My PCP of 10 years retired last month and closed his office doors. I have to start seeing a new PCP and for one of my first questions to be, "Hey can you write me a letter clearing me for bariatric surgery?" I'm just nervous as to how this is going to go.

My biggest issue is that the PCP I've had for years retired last month and closed his office. I have yet to even find a new PCP and when I do, I'm not sure my first appointment will go over well when I'm only there for them to write a letter:( Everything else is going so smoothly too so this is very frustrating!

Quite inspirational and motivational! You look amazing, congratulations:) -
I have the same question! I have to write a letter to my surgeon explaining why I want the surgery, and that has to be submitted with all of my paperwork to CIGNA. I'm an excellent writer, but for some reason I'm drawing a HUGE blank on this one!
