Good Morning I would just also add, in my experience, it is very apparent to others what an uprofessional jerk this person is. The others may not say anything to you, but I am sure they are empathizing and siding with you. chin up buckaroon. b.

Where are you Before and After?
1SuperBonBon replied to mrdr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nice ! Very Very Nice! I could say much more, but I don't want to embarrass myself. -
This seems to be very difficult time for you. So much going on in a lot of different areas of your life. I was reviewing your profile and I think you have done very well. You have lost 56 pounds! That is great! To reach goal you only have 43 more pounds to go. You are more than 1/2 way there. There is no defined time limit to reach your goal. It is a work in progress. I can agree that not losing any weight in 4 months can be discouraging and frustrating. BUT another way of looking at is that you have maintained a 56 pound weight loss. I don't have all the facts on what you are eating, how much you are eating, how much you are exercising, etc. So not sure how to guide you to kick start the weight loss again. Besides, I only know what I have read thus far on here about what to do. I am still waiting to be sleeved. This said I will let the Vets chime in with their encouragement, advice, and thoughts. I hope you feel better soon. Bonnie

That was just adorable. I tried to specifically request an extra tiny tummy from my surgeon. But no luck there. He said he uses a standard size.

For forum purposes, I am breaking it down. For everyone else, I have decided I will just say, "a lot" and smile. LIke PdxMan eluded to..... I don't need people doing the math.

Sassy: If you really want to help out, please give everyone a lesson on the differences between the following: 1. Lose 2. Loose 3. Loss 4. Lost I personally don't care how anyone spells anything on here. If I understand the intent of the poster's message, then it is all good. We are all here seeking support not an english lesson.

I am yet to be sleeved (October 22nd), but I give everyone on this forum permission to slap me silly if I ever waste your time with either of the following posts: 1. Dreaded 3 week stall (what should I do?) 2. I have not lost weight in 2 days HELP!

Oh Madam R. Here is another great post of yours that I will need to follow I can't wait to see where this one leads! Let the games begin.

pre-op - need to talk - Long
1SuperBonBon replied to ArnoldS's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Martha, I just recently quit smoking (9 days ago). I did it cold turkey, because I couldn't take anything to asist me for various reasons. I completely empathize with you as well as send my support. Quitting smoking was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. The physical withrawals were horrible. My experience was: day 1 was mind over matter day 2 I slept through most of the day to try to get through the physical withdrawals which really kicked in day 3 was a Monday and I was back at work... omg this was the worst day ever! the physical withdrawals were the worst. I spend much of the day researching withdrawals and quitting smoming online to find out when it would get better. day 4 not pleasant but better than day 3 day 5 I finally felt like I was going to make it. Today I finally feel strong enough to know I am really doing it this time. I know I won't go back to smoking because I never want to go through that type of total discomfort again. I will agree that it is hard to quit smoking and focus on changing your eating habits. I think I gained about 3 or 4 pounds in a week. This weekend I am back to working on my eating again. I am not sure if any of this helps, but I mostly just wanted to voice my support and encouragement. Quitting smoking is hard. I read this one post from a woman asking where the balloons and confetti were. She felt like the sky should open up and balloons and confetti should fall down upon her to Celebrate her accomplishment of quitting smoking. I think she order some doves, rainbows and unicorns too. You can do this. Just keep trying. It takes a few tries. Sorry for all the rambling and random thoughts. lol Bonnie -

Questions Pre Op meeting with Surgeon and Answers to my Questions
1SuperBonBon posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello All: I just returned from my pre op appointment with my surgeon. I wanted to share with you the questions I asked and the answers I received. Q. Can I take my capsule (Cymbalta) medication after surgery? A. Yes, do not stop taking it, but open the capsule pour the contains in something to get it down. Q. I am allergic to vicodin and codeine. What can I take after surgery when I get home? A. You will be prescribed something nice and strong, but it will be in pill form and need to be crushed up before taking it. Q. What is the deal-o with "gas" after surgery? Is that due to the surgeon's technique or specific to the patient? A. All the gas pumped into you during the surgery is removed while you are asleep. There are three types of pain, 1. incision pain 2. irratation from the gas 3. ..... oh heck I forgot lol if you did well with your gallbladder surgery, you should breeze through this no problem. Q. Do you make everyone's tummy the same size or is it based on the patient's orginal tummy size? A. The stomach size is a constant, determined by the tube used as a "pattern" to guide the cutting. The only variable that is not controllable is the length of a persons stomach. Q. Is there anything you might find during surgery that would cause me to wake up without being sleeved? A. 1 in a million chance that there would be anything that would be found during surgery that was not identified during the pre op testing. He has never had a surgery that ended in no sleeve. Q. Straws? What is the theory behind straws? A. The straw mystery is a myth. However you can get your liquids down is fine by him. Q. Weight gain from/after surgery? A. Yes there will be some bloating and Water retention. Don't bother weighing yourself for a week. Q. I had to out right ask... do you... or are you going to do a nicotine test? A. No. "Should I?" lol I think those were my primary questions as I can remember them. Most of my questions I was able to find answers on the internet or VST. My surgery is a go for October 22nd. I officially clocked in today at the doctor's -15#'s. I start my pre-op diet on the 9th. And I am super excited and very ready to get this party started. Thanks for reading. Bonnie- 15 replies

Pre Op meeting with Surgeon and Answers to my Questions
1SuperBonBon replied to 1SuperBonBon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hmmmmmm dunno Pat. I think it is a blue and green capsule 60 mg. I take lyrica too. I can't go with out my bipolar meds. And if you have ever tried to get off Cymbalta or forgotten to take it for a couple of days, the withdrawals are HORRIBLE! I don't want to experience that ever again. B. -
Hi egomez I am bipolar too. I regulary see my psych and therapist and take my medication. I have been very stable for 7 years. I was very nervous about my psych eval too. I did pass my pysch eval fairly easily. It seems that there is a wide variety of experiences with psych evals. Some people get lengthy questionnaires/test and interview/talk therapy, while others have a fairly straight forward interview session. I am thankful that I had interview only session which lasted about 40 minutes. My surgeon works with a psychologist regularly who he recommends you go to. I definitely think it helps when you are seeing a pyschologist that is pro WLS. I think you will do fine. Good Luck and keep us posted. Bonnie

Pre Op meeting with Surgeon and Answers to my Questions
1SuperBonBon replied to 1SuperBonBon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes. I know the straw topic is a much debated topic. That is why I specifically asked my surgeon so that I can follow his guidelines.Everybody definitely seems to have their strong opinions on this topic. I will try with a straw and without a straw and then determine for myself what works best to get my fluids in. -
Asking doctor to possibly modify surgery, need opinion
1SuperBonBon replied to HalloweenBaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Halloween Baby, I just met with my surgeon today and asked him about tummy size. He told me that he makes all tummies the same size. He has a standard. It is not based on how obese you are or the original size of your stomach. The one thing he mentioned is that he is not able to control is that everyone stomach is a different length. That does make a little difference in size, but nothing he can control. Like the other posters mentioned, I am sure your surgeon has his technique and best practice. You will be fine. And good luck to you. -
MARC ZARE PEOPLE UNITE :D
1SuperBonBon replied to No game's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Just checking in..... Just got back from my pre op appt. I am a little disappointed. I found out today that I am not going to be nicotine tested I worked so hard to quit smoking. Damn it I want to be tested LOL. Although Dr. Zare did say he didn't need to nicotine test me, because he could tell I had quit smoking by my voice, my breathing, and my skin color. He was very proud of me. Addtionally, I officially lost 15 pounds so far pre op and I have 2.5 weeks to go until surgery. Dr. Zare said he liked everything he was seeing and will see me on October 22nd at the hospital. I am soooo excited. I still need to go do my final labs and my pre-reg at the hospital, but I am in it to win it! Bonnie -
Trying to gain some stats please help me out.
1SuperBonBon replied to AutumnPunkin's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Standard Deviation - you have my attention I am not sleeved yet so I can help you out on your statistical data collection; however, I would be very interested in your results. -
I am feeling a new suit. That might just be me. I am not very sentimental about my clothes. In fact I can't wait to clean out my closet and replace all my FAT clothes with new stuff. You can think of it this way...If you get a new suit, it can be the beginning of new sentimental memories. It will be the first new suit marking your weight loss journey.

Amen! I am on day 6 of quitting a 23 year 2 pack a day smoking habit. I agree with you. This is HUGE! I am super proud of you. Quitting smoking is making the pre-op liquid diet look like a walk in the park. -
Severe abdominal pain 10 months post sleeve
1SuperBonBon replied to PetraLuxor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello There: Sorry you are in so much pain. I recommend googling ovarian cyst and reading the symptoms and when to go seek medical attention. Just glancing through the Mayo Clinic: The symptoms of ovarian cysts, if present, may include: Menstrual irregularities Pelvic pain — a constant or intermittent dull ache that may radiate to your lower back and thighs Pelvic pain shortly before your period begins or just before it ends Pelvic pain during intercourse (dyspareunia) Pain during bowel movements or pressure on your bowels Nausea, vomiting or breast tenderness similar to that experienced during pregnancy Fullness or heaviness in your abdomen Pressure on your rectum or bladder that causes a need to urinate more frequently or difficulty emptying your bladder completely When to see a doctor Seek immediate medical attention if you have: Sudden, severe abdominal or pelvic pain Pain accompanied by fever or vomiting These signs and symptoms — or those of shock, such as cold, clammy skin, rapid breathing, and lightheadedness or weakness — indicate an emergency and mean that you need to see a doctor right away. I hope this helps. -
