Why dial-up? Two reasons mainly. One, I'm too cheap (can you hear the birds?) and Two, we are out in the country. No cable service here, none of the broadband companies deal in our area and our phone company doesn't offer it right here in our area of our area code. I can get if I want to pay around $60-70/mo. but I'm also paying $40./mo for my basic phone service. Although, I'm beginning to know it is worth it. I just have to do a little research.
-
Glad I'm not forgotten. I may not post very often, but I'm here every day reading (lurking) Of course, FB is keeping me really busy with this stupid dial-up. Phyl - From what you've said, it sounds to me like a really good thing. Necessary to get legs done in order to get your knees done? Insurance should cover it. Run don't walk to the PS

Hello Ladies.......I'm back. Off the farm, finally. LOL Ist - KARRI - Congratulations on your marathon. YOU ROCK!! I couldn't run to save my life. My grandkids? Well, maybe, but that's questionable. KARLA - You're getting there. With all that you have to do, I wouldn't worry too much about food. You won't have time to eat. As for the ex, Look him in the eye and say (I hope I get this right) "Eat Rocks and Die" (feel free to correct me if I got this wrong) Candace - Yeah, I hear yuh. Junk food. It talks to me all the time. Loudly. When are you leaving for France? Have fun. PHYL - Have the ruby slippers gotten scuffed up yet?? Or are you still glad to be home? Janet - I can't believe you are farming two farms. Phyl too. God, one is more than enough for me. But I am hooked. DD told me today that she is too. Steph - Take care of that back. Ya Hear??? Denise - Check out some of those catalogues for the polyester house dresses. Old Pueblo traders, Blair, Lane Bryant..........They all have some type of house dress.

G'evening Ladies. Seem that I have a big problem getting out of FaceBook. It's the first thing I go to and the last thing I do when I go off..........just that some days there isn't anything between the two. It sounds like a soap here. Shall we call it "all my calories" Or "days of our bands"?? I wish all of you the best. I'll say an extra prayer for you. Food demons are back. Or I guess I could say the Pepsi demon. And I can't get my water in either. Oh well, guess I'll head back to the farm. TTYL

HUGS, KARRI!! yOU ARE A FANTASTIC TEACHER.!! :thumbup:If we had more teachers like you, we wouldn't need that "No kid left behind" crap. There would be no need for it. I know of no one who goes in at 4am to prepre for their class. know they are out there, but they are few and far between. So.....hold your head high and tell all those others to "STICK IT" :smile2:
-
Yep, I figured that out too. I used to love Big Mac's but I can now say that I could live very happily never eating another one. As for the french fries....I discovered a long time ago that I cannot eat them anymore. Well, I can eat about three, then they get stuck. I did pedal an extra half hour....making a total of an hour and a half that day.
-
FORCE IT UP. It won't go down and if you sit in pain, it will be a while while you spend your time sliming. And that's no fun. I was trying to get your signature here. So if a big mac value meal is two hours running.......how much is just the big mac with three quarters of the bun? (can you guess why I ask?) Steph - Need a maid? Isn't that why we have kids? Phyl - how do you get into the dot game? I gotta try that one. Well, a couple weeks ago, I could eat a whole lot. The past couple days I have been really tight. Couldn't even finish a lean cousine the other night and today, I had a chicken snacker at Mickey D's and couldn't finish it. And, the reflux is back. Not quite sure I'm likeing this band too much right now. Of course, I love this new body so............. Well, got to get back to facebook and then make dinner. TTYL
-
. Karri - I think if we get too comfortable at where we are at - that's what leads us back to eating the wrong things - thinking it's ok - I guess for me that's what has kept me on the straight and narrow for so long... I have lost the weight before (well not this much) and kept if off for a couple of year and then it came back plus some.. But that's cuz I would start eating again (sleeve of ritz crackers - saying I would have 4 - then before you knew it they were gone) Well, I tried to highlight just this bit of Janet's post, but I ended up going back and deleting most of it. Well, this is the reason I haven't posted lately. I don't want a ticket. But, I am comfy where I'm at and I've become careless. Especially since my darling little grandkids gave me their colds and it's a nasty one. And of course I have to fall back on that old adage..........feed a cold, starve a fever. I did pedal though. Didn't make it to the gym though. Weather was nasty and I felt nasty. So I stayed home. Napped, started a new quilt, facebooked and grazed. Karla - don't worry about boring us. We need to hear about all your problems and feelings. Cause, we've been there, done that, and we (I am) are still doing it. So, I'm gonna quit here, go back and finish up facebook and then play pathwords and then hit the sheets. Tomorrow's another day, even though they are forecasting snow flakes. It's gonna hit 76 Saturday. HAVE A GREAT NIGHT FOLKS. TTYL

Karla Could you get me that info on the nursing program? My daughter has been thinking of going back to school for her RN ever since her daughter died, but it takes too long. This sounds like it would be right up her alley.
-
Hey Steph, It's called denial. I know all about it. It has hit me too. Oh, and I agree with Denise, Enjoy them while you can. They grow too too fast. Then you have to wait for the grandkids and then, with our luck, they live a couple hours away. JUST ENJOY THEM.....NOW PHYL - Have a great trip home. Tell Earl to drive carefully. And, you know you'll be back there befor you know it. And just think, once you're home you can think about meeting up with all of us in Canada. It's really late here (or should I say early??) and since I'm at my daughter's, my grandson will be waking me up in about three hours. I'll try to check in tomorrow sometime. I'm going to go to the funeral home tomorrow night and then head home the next day...Just to come back on Sunday for Gavin's 4th birthday party. OOPS - forgot..I'm having trouble getting water down too. And I never used to. I have to find a way to get rid of those demons sitting on my shoulders. (both of them) Either that, or get a labotomy, HAVE A GOOD NIGHT ALL. (or should I say Morning?)

Hi Sanderson, I live in Gregory which is in the sw corner of Livingston county. Where in Mi do you live?

Happy Easter Ladies Hope you've all enjoyed your day. Mine was OK. Don't get me wrong, my kids and grandkids were all here and my sister and BIL came for dinner but I woke to bad news this morning. Two families from the Liver forum I belong to have lost their sons. One was about a year old and never came out of ICU after his transplant last summer. The other one was having life support removed today sometime after family had a chance to say good-bye to him. Their little guy fell out of a second story window and didn't make it. I am always bummed when I hear that one of our liver kids didn't make it. Especially this time of year because Jayli died four days after Easter. I'm rambling here......and venting. I'm kind of numb. I'm going to go to one of the funerals since I have met this family and they live around the corner from my daughter. Anyway, have a great evening and I will TTYL.

Let's see. time to respond to posts. Candace - woke up this morning to 4-6 inches of snow. Thinking of going back to bed. One good thing about April snow storms in Michigan is that they don't last long and after it melts, spring has sprung. DH went out this morning and shoveled the grass. I saw a fat robin really enjoying it cause he could find worms. Beth - forget Paxil. I was on it but just before I was banded, my psychiatrist weaned me off it and put me on Zoloft. The paxil quit working for me and the Dr. said that is not weight friendly. I'm not sure if I understand this, but if your doctor doesn't know you quit taking your antidepressant, just call him and tell him you quit taking it cause you thought you could handle things but now, a year later you can't and you need something. I haven't gone for a fill yet but it will be soon. But I'm still not sure I need one. One day, I can eat anything and lots of it and another day, I do nothing but burp all day. I'm thinking maybe it's mostly head hunger. Seems like a few us are suffering from this here. Maybe this is normal???? OKAY, I'M OUT OF HERE. ALL THIS SNOW IS MAKING ME DEPRESSED AND YOU ALL KNOW WHAT HAPPENS THEN. HAVE A GOOD DAY ALL AND TTYL.

Good Evening, Ladies I haven't gotten a fill yet. I keep planning to call and would you believe I start feeling a little tight and I keep belching. I don't know what to think. I either can eat a whole lot or hardly anything. TO FILL OR NOT TO FILL. THAT IS THE QUESTION. My sister told me not to lose any more weight. Phyl - Tell me some more about this cruise for $399. DH and I have talked for years about going on one but the cost was a little too much. Of course, the air fare to Washington is probably more that what the cruise costs. Karla - I meant to tell you about the super glue. I thought that was way cool. Today, I have to look real real hard to find the insisions. Also, Dr. O only puts just a little fill in, so don't expect restriction for a while. In fact, it took me 10 mos. to get it with a fill every four weeks. I've got the big band. Also, isn't Dr. O the greatest? I keep reading about bandsters feeling lousy after surgery. Bloat, gas and shoulder pain just to name a few. I also didn't feel like I had surgery. I took the pain pill the first night at the hotel to make sure I made it through the night. Didn't need to take any more after that. I felt great. Steph - I have a paper piece pattern for pink ribbons. I used it to make a quilt for my GD Jaylibug but instead of pink ribbons, I made green ones for organ donation. They don't take long to do and I could put together a few squares if Candace wanted to put them together and quilt them. Just let me know and send me an address and I'll whip them off for you. That is a good idea. Candace, - If I make a bunch of pink breast cancer squares, would you consider putting them into a quilt and quilt them? Janet - you looked like you had a blast on your cruise. The pics were great. I love seeing pictures. One of these days, I'm going to get a digital camera and learn how to post pics online. Then you guys will be sick of seeing me. LOL Okay, this is getting pretty long and we don't have to fill pages for Janet since she is back. So, I'll just bid you all AuVoir, Guten Abend, adios etc. See you all tomorrow. Sleep tight.
-
What about an insulin pump? I'd check on that. And yes, I'm the one Steph was talking about. M-M-M-M Pepsi. Although DH has just put some ruby red squirt in the fridge. That's a close second to pepsi.
-
Steph - No offense taken. If I didn't want to get scolded, I never would have posted what I ate. I know the choices weren't the greatest. There was cheese and veggies in the omelet (well, onions and grn peppers). At least it was better than my other choice which was country fried steak and mashed potatoes and gravy. I really prefer Appleby's when eating out cause there, I don't have a choice...it's French Onion Soup, hands down. I like the team name of Bandit Boobies the best.....or maybe the boobie Bandits. Karla - Do get those before pictures. That is a must. I felt the same way about pictures and i really didn't think I had any before whole body pics (just neck and above, but that shows a big difference, too) But then my DH (can stand for damn husband too) found some and all I could say was OMG!!! And like Karri, I couldn't really see a differnce till I had lost over 75 pounds. Clothes sizes didn't even change. It's just your self image is so screwed up. I never looked in the mirror often and when I did, I saw a fat person. Just not as fat as I really was. So makie sure you get pics so you don't keep asking your kids...."was I ever that fat?" when ever you see someone you think is really heavy. (cause the answer is usually yes). My last suppper was dominos pizza (across from the Lucerna). I enjoyed every last bite but I did not overdo it. Just be like Karri and make sure that your mind is set that a new life starts as soon as you get out of surgery. Also, if I remember correctly, Dr. Ortiz doesn't have you start with protein drinks till the second or third week after banding. It's been a while (those old brains, you know) and I think for the first week, he has you eat broth (bullion), juice (diluted half water, so you don't get the runs) and liquid yougurt (Dan Active), water and you can drink protein water, like special K water. That'sa it, unless he's changed it. And the fat and muscle thing? Yes, 1 pound of fat weighs the same as 1 pound of muscle. It just takes a whole lot more fat to make up a pound than it does muscle. So, you weren't really wrong, cause you knew what you meant. Phyl - Man, Brad and Earl keep sounding more and more like two of a kind. He just has to have his cookies and chips (crunchy ones too). Okay, I admit the soda is BAD ! ! ! But I didn't have any til I was out almost a year and a half. (I was told no soda for the first year). And I never have more than one. (well, most of the time) and then it is only when we are out. Big prob here is, there is no exersize bike and it's too cold to go outside and walk. My DGS would have gone with me anytime but let's face it, I'm a wuss (no more insulation) and he's only 4 (almost). Things seem kind of tight today, but I'm still gonna get another fill next week. WELL, KIDS ARE IN BED AND WE HEAD HOME TOMORROW SO HAVE A GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK kARLA. HAVE A GOOD TRIP;. LOVE YOU GUYS..............KEEP GIVING ME A HARD TIME. YELL, SCREAM..MY HEAD ISN'T QUITE THAT HARD, IT SHOULD SINK IN SOON.
-
Hey, Where is Janet?? I thought it was just a three dayer. Steph - love the mafia comment. I wqnt in too. Karla - go ahead and have the Last Supper. They won't know about it at all. Car - hope the blizzard is over and the snow melts. My SIL just got bawck from Business in Denver. DH and I are up in Grand Rapids for a long week end to babysit. Should do pretty good food wise cause it's not my house and besides she doesn't have too much junk food to munch on. I defineawtely need a fill though. Went out to dinner last night......had an omelet w/hash browns and two pancakes......and drank two colas and still wasn't stuffed. Gonna call first thing Monday. This morning we went to the Frederick Meijer Memorial gardens and went to the butterfly museum there. Oh, there were some beautiful butterflies there. It was so neat. One came up and perched on the end of my finger. Well, I probably won't be back here till Sunday nite, so Have a great week-end. AND MISS STEPHANIE - TAKE IT EASY. DON'T DO TOO MUCH. NO MORE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS!!!! WE DON'T WANT YOU TO DO ANY MORE DAMAGE TO THAT BACK OF YOURS. One of the reasons we all got banded was that we wouldn't all end up in wheelchairs, crippled.:crying:
-
Karla I did Dr. Ortiz and it was a great experience. It is a great place to go, everyone is nice and friendly, and the hotel is fantastic. I do have one suggestion for you though. Bring along some broth or bullion cubes for the hotel after surgery. Don't get me wrong, they do offer it in the restaurant there, (and it's real good ) but it is $6.50 for a bowl of chicken broth. There are coffee makers in the rooms so you can heat Water for bullion. The hotel is in a good part of town and if you want to eat fairly cheap Sun. nite, Domino pizza is right across the street. Good Luck

Happy Birthday, Denise. And I hope you feel better. Nah, Janet's not in bed. She's out there showing those boys the ropes, drinking Mqrgaritas and gambling. HAVE FUN, JANET!!! Hey Steph, I saw online that Wyoming's having a blizzard. Are you in the middle of that? Man, that's enough to make one eat...and eat....and eat.........and eat. I think I need another fill. I'm still burping a lot and I feel full. I just don't know when to quit and the food keeps going down and doesn't come back up so I think it is fill time.
-
Hey Phyl, I can't believe how much Earl sounds like Brad. Maybe I aught to get him to come to Candace's with me and the two of them can sit around and discuss the financial woes (oops, I mean World).:rolleyes2: It might keep them occupied so we can all go spend some money. LOL:lol: Steph - Great to see you've posted. I think it means that you are on the road to recovery. In fact, I'm glad to see that everyone is posting. Seems like whenever janet is gone, so is everyone else. Have a good day all and I will TTYL.
-
bon voyage, janet!!!!!!!! have a great time.
-
Hey Phyl Let me know how it goes. If he's cheap enough, can I go too? I went to Dr. Ortiz. I'm not scared of Tijuanna either. Janet - Have fun on your cruise. Where are you going again? Don't forget us, while you're gone. Steph - Glad you are doing so good. Couldn't believe you got out the same day of surgery. Just be sure you don't get hooked on those loopy pills. So, are we going to see you in Canada this summer??
-
I don't think so, but I know they have referrals. It's on his website. And it is cheaper down there. But not much in the way of aftercare..unless you recouperate down there. And you've defeated the purpose of saving money. We are home. And it's cold. I miss the sun and warmth. I didn't do too bad. Weighed myself this morning. 175. the high side of my plateau. I got on my bike this morning and OMG.....the resistance was tight. Real tight. I never felt it before...didn't think there was much. I was wrong. Then I finished unpacking, got dressed and went to the gym. But I had to get a script filled so I went to Walmart first. It took forever but had a blast shopping. They have all their tops on sale. Got a big bag full. One was $9.00(not on sale), one was $7.00 and the rest were $5.00. Stocked up.got lots of different colors. I ended up having to wait over an hour for my pills so I didn't get to the gym, but I am ready (I think) and motivated (for now) so I'll start up again Monday. (that's the plan, anyway):scared2: I can't wait till this summer. Janet, Find out if it is cheaper to fly into Detroit or Flint. I'll pick you up and we can go from there. It'll be about a 6-7 hour drive. Got to go make dinner. Going to make spinach stuffed shells with low fat ricotta. So, TTYL. I've got time now red these so....
-
Steph I was banded by Dr. Ortiz. It was great. He is good and he runs a first class place down there. Everyone speaks english, the hotel is great and the clinic is super clean. I'd go back if I did it over again. Tell her not to worry. It'll be fine. As for the passport, I can't answer that. I didn't need one but that was when they gave you an extra year to get one. And, we drove across the border from San Diego. I would have needed one if I flew into TJ. Have your friend ask the co-ordinator about it. They are located in SD and aren't in Mexico, so they would know.

Peaches Where do you have a picture of this posted? I'm scanning posts and it sounds to me that they are somewhere here. I'd love to see it.
