Okay, I don't want to leave anyone out here but my memory is getting really bad so, I will just give a generalize post here. HOUSEWORK?? I hate it. I'd love to have a housekeeper, but since I'm a stay at home mom, i'd feel guilty. My house isn't too dirty, or should I say, not cluttered. Now that DH is retired, he runs the vacuum and dishwasher. I don't mind laundry. I can't remember the last time I dusted. As for the lapband doing all the work. Man, I have to agree with Janet here. The reason I went with the band is that I thought it would do the work, and I could eat pretty much what I wanted. WRONG. I have a girlfriend that had bypass surgery. She wouldn't even consider lapband because she wanted to change her eating habits. She is almost two years out and has lost 66 pounds. I'm six months out and have lost 71 lbs. Maybe I'm being a little boastful, but I worked danged hard to lose those pounds. She lost 66 by doing nothing. So what?? I'd say she didn't learn or change to many of her eating habits. That seems like a small amount of weight lost for bypass surgery. Jackie, have your friend come here. Whenever I feel discouraged, this site really perks me up. My family teases me, but I sure do appreciate all the encouragement I get here. Tell her to log on. She doesn't have to post unless she is comfortable with it.......but being a lurker is very beneficial. Ruby. Glad you're feeling better. TIME TO FIX DINNER. HAVE A GOOD EVENING. TTYL

How To Find A Doctor To Do Fills On Outside Patients
kirajh replied to kirajh's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did not check out any doctors in the Detroit area because I didn't want to hastle with the city and traffic. Check out the Mi section here. There are a lot of doctors in that area. There should be at least one who will do them. -
Everyone handles lapband surgery differently. The only thing I suffered from was slight tenderness around my incisions. No shoulder pain, no vomiting, no gas. Would I do it again? YES Do I regret it? NO
-
Ruby - hope you continue to feel better. Take it easy and enjoy the day. Janet - Have a garage sale. Then you can continue to shop and have a clean garage. Karri - I'll sit through your meetings, but you have to come put up with my retired hubby. He is driving me crazy. Everything has to be done NOW. He has to find something to occupy his time. HAVE A GOOD DAY EVERYONE. DON'T EAT TOO MUCH. TTYL

Jackie - I have to agree with what Janet and Karri have said. I'll tell you if it were me, I'd have eaten four pieces of cake. That is one thing I have missed and avoid it cause I don't know when to quit. You quit. GOOD FOR YOU. I find that with myself, if the urge for something hits me, I have to satisfy that urge, or I go crazy. I figure it is better to splurge, then get back on track than to graze trying to satisfy my cravings. So don't feel guilty. Just get back on track. WE can do it. I didn't notice your smiley till Karri mentioned it. Good one. I love it. Karri - No appetite?? I WISH. Janet and Phyl - I got a phone call tonight from one of my dearest friends. They are out in AZ in their RV and heqding for Ca. later this week. Out near Palm Springs. That's out your way, isn't it? they said they are going to Emmett or Hemmett. Is that close to you? Phyl - I wouldn't want to come to Mi either. Don't have a choice though. i live here. I'm trying to talk DH into relocating, but then again, it would kill me to leave my little grandkids.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

THANKS JANET ! ! ! Now, I really am feeling OLD. -
GOOD AFTERNOON, LADIES. It's another cold, damp, wet, Michigan Sunday here. All my joints are aching and nothing much happening. Phyl, my fridge and panty both need cleaning and organized. But you and Janet really don't want to come to Mi. I think it is so cool that your hubby loves to do kitchens. Mine does to a small extent but not enough to make a difference. janet, yes, there is an ocean close. Only a couple miles from my mom's. It is just that I don't like swimmimg in the ocean. I'll walk in it but that's it. But there are a couple pools in her complex. And a Y down the street and according to the net, a couple fitness centers nearby. So I think I am ready to go. I'm gonna miss those two little rugrats though. The little one is starting to scootch around on her belly. She'll probably be dating by the time I get home. Have a good day. I'll try to check in later.
-
Hello Janet and Phyl - I'm here. just lurking. I don't have much to say. Janet, want to come clean out my closets? i hate doing that. Only four more days and I am out of this cold weather. Can't wait. I just hope I can keep up with the weight loss. My mom takes me out to dinner every night almost. And since she is giving up driving, I know she'll have me chauffeur her around. Anyway, nothing is happening up here. BORING!! So I will check back tomorrow. SWEET DREAMS.

Hi guys. I'm not from Florida but am going down next week to stay with my Mom for a month. She lives in Stuart. I was banded 7-16-07 and have lost around 70 lbs so far. Exersize has been a big part of this. Problem is, walking is one that can be done anywhere but I have a bum knee that needs replacing and it is painful for me to walk 100 feet. I pedal an exersize bike here at home and it is working. Anyway, anyone know of a gym or fitness club that will let you work out or join for only a month? THANK YOU
-
Good job, Teach. I think I learned something. As for surviving on a deserted island? I think I'd survive for at least a couple months. My new tops came today. 1X and I am wearing one of them. I can't believe it. It fits. I try to pedal of around 500 calories per day but last month I was aiming for 1400-1500 per day. The weight just didn't drop off the way I thought it would and I'm just burning myself out. HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GOOD EVENING. DON'T EAT ANY OF THAT VALENTINES CANDY. (I heard on the radio that out of 5 bags of valentine candy, 4 of them were left over from last year/expiration date) BETTER YET, HOPEFULLY OUR HONEYS LOVE US ENOUGH NOT TO BUY IT FOR US. SEE YOU ALL TOMORROW.

Hello Ladies - got on yesterday and only a couple posts. Get on today and there are three pages. WOW! ! ! Okay Steph, love the story about Daddy Longlegs. Just call him Daddy at work. What grade do you teach? Pizza....hey, if it doesn't get stuck, go ahead, one piece won't hurt.........too much anyway. And frosting out of the can?? Where's that can?? Phyl - Fix you..thought that was funny. Just tell him that you'll fix him. Jackie, hope you feel better. Being sick is no fun. Karri - I'm so glad that you respect your elders. Now lets see, which commandant says 'Honor your mother and father". How the heck did you get up early enough to be at work at 4:3-0? You've got to be crazy. Janet - I'm staying at my mom's. No exersize room but there is a pool. I'm gonna check out the Y down the street and find out if I can hjoin for a couple weeks. I've been pedaling quite a bit, haven't missed a day yet, but it is getting old. I've been having trouble getting back on it at night for a second hour so, I've only been doing one hour a day. Guess what?? Got on the scale this morning and it is down four pounds since last week. Is it possible that too much exersize slows down weight loss? I was thinking along the lines of Karri with exersizing off the food I ate and ending the day with a zero balance. Didn't work too well. Well, since everyone is so chatty today, I'll check back later. TTYL

Lapband scheduled March 27!!!!!!
kirajh replied to queenie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
gLAD YOU HAVE A DATE. I'm sure things will go great. You've picked a great place to have it. Dr. Ortiz runs a first class operation. One thing I will suggest for your trip is to bring along some chicken boullion cubes. There is a restaurant at the Lucerna and the chicken broth is just delicious..........but it costs $6.50 a bowl. Each room has a Mr. Coffee where you can heat the water, so if money is an issue, you might want to bring some boullion. -
I just have to start this by saying I love you guys. You are all such inspiration and enjoyment to me. Love this site too. Stephanie - Can't help you with the ex. equipment. I have an exersize bike and try to pedal 2 - 2 1/2 hours a day. Seems like a lot, but I split it up. Besides, the knees are too bad to do any thing else. Try mixing some onion soup mix with cottage cheese. Put in as little or as much as you want. It is really good and can also substitute as chip dip. Phyll - Sure am glad to know that I am not the only one who likes cottage cheese sandwiches. I love it on Jewish Rye Bread, doesn't matter if it's toasted or not. Yummy. To everyone - Hubby feels terrible about screwing up my birthday so he's taking me out for Valentine's day. I'll be AWOL after next week. Finally got my reservations for Florida. Three weeks,......sun and warm weather. Can't wait. Just got to figure out how to get my exersize since walking is pretty much out cause of my knee. TTYL

You sound just like I did when I returned from TJ and surgery with Dr. Ortiz. Glad it was a good experience for you.

HELLO LADIES I want to take a minute and thank all of you for being so understanding and letting me vent last night. I just want you all to know that today was a much better day. First thing my DH did this morning was to give me a great BIG hug. Then to put the frosting on the cake, THE SUN WAS OUT TODAY. Shining very bright.........but it was only about 10 degrees outside. But that sun..........(gotta make those Florida Reservations) JANET - I caught the brownie bit, but it wasn't that I was afraid of you...........it just sounded so yummy, I decided to say anything was to tempt fate. Besides, I had my BigMac yesterday. (never again though) PEACHES - M & M's. That sounds really good. In fact, hubby and I were in K-Mart and there was a box of them on the check out lane. I had to hold them up and show DH. He was very surprised that I didn't buy them. Didn't want to go from 65 to 60 in less than a day. PHYL - I bought myself two new bras today while at K-Mart. Cheapies but in colors. And instead of a 42DD, I bought a 40D and a 40DD. Both felt good but I have to be able to wear them for a while till I know just how they fit. I think I might have to go Capris too. I noticed that the skin right above my knees is getting pretty crinkly. I told my hubby that if my mother doesn't outlive me, I'm going to use my inheritance for a body make=over, A total makeover. Man, this 58 year old brain just isn't functioning right. I wanted to respond to Karri, and Ruby and Linda and Stephanie and others too but I just can't remember. One of those senior moments. ANYWAY, HAVE A GOOD NIGHT AND IF I REMEMBER WHAT I WANTED TO POST, I'LL BE BACK. JUST DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH. WHEN IT GOES, IT USUALLY STAYS GONE. Oh yeah, I remember something. My NSV of the day. Went to Meijers and all the riding carts were being used. Got a regular push cart and did my grocery shopping the normal way. It felt pretty good. OKAY, I'M OUT OF HERE. THIS IS GETTING PRETTY LONG.

I think that I possibly just spent the worst day of my life since I was banded. I am totally done with birthdays. THEY SUCK!! To start, DH woke me up at 8am for church. On the way there, he says "oh yeah, I forgot.....happy birthday." About an hour after getting home from church, youngest gets up, comes downstairs and says...."happy birthday. you have to wait for your present." Then she left. Then about an hour later my son calls and says "hqppy birthday. What are your plans?" Then he calls back an hour or so later and says he is heded out to Ann Arbor. I let him talk to my DH and I heard him say, "I don't think your mother wants to go out to dinner>" DUH!! I told him that hey, it's my birthday. I'm not cooking. Even if it's McDonalds, I'm not cooking. Then my son says he'll see me sometime soon and hangs up. It is time to go to bed here. DH comes upstairs and asks me if I would like goulash for dinner. Again DUH. I told him I wasn't hungry. A little while later after not being able to fall asleep, I got up, got my shoes and coat on and braved the 0 degree temps and went to Mickey D's.........all by myself for my birthday dinner. Ordered my first BigMac since my surgery and what happens? Eat half of it and then spend the next half hour sliming. Should have thrown the rest out, but no, I brought it home. Tried eating the rest of it later and slimed again. THAT WILL TEACH ME. Then my mom calls and tells me she didn't get out to get me a card (well she's 86, I can forgive that). Then my oldest daughter calls and after I vented to her, she had my three year old grandson call me and say Happy birthday....I love you." Then DH had the gall to ask me if I had really wanted to go out to dinner. DUH. Only talked about where I wanted to go for a week. I told him that some acknowedgement would have been nice...........maybe a birthday kiss or hug. Nope, nothing. Anyway, that was my birthday.............TOMORROW IS ANOTHER DAY. THANK GOD ! ! ! i WILL CHECK BACK IN TOMORROW. hOPEFULLY IT WILL BE BETTER.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
kirajh replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I will be a self pay and the thought of going to Mexico scares me to death. Anyone had that expereince and if so, what did you do for followup and fills? I am thinking of just going to a well known surgeon in the Salt Lake City area and paying the price. Any thoughts? I couldn't wait for insurance approal and ended up going to Mexico. I refused to pay the US prices and jump thru all the hoops. I was leery, but did it anyway. It was one of the best things I have ever done in my life. It has literally saved my life. -

Janet - were your bloomer gym suits blue?? I hated those things. After I got out of the hospital, my arms were too weak to hook my bras so I had to do it the "old" way. Or have hubby hook them up for me. I was telling my girlfriend about it and she said "oh, you mean like our mom's did." LOL Guess we're showing our age. Phyl - One thing I've always wanted to know..........Why do they think fat people don't want to wear sexy underwear? Or in colors besides black, white and beige. I finally found a bra that came in prints and colors and was sexy and the best thing was, it was the first bra in forty years that fit me right. Yeah, and then Vanity Fair had to go and discontinue it. I get so mad when I go shopping for undies and end up looking at harnesses. Guess I'm going to have to break down and tackle a mall. Thanks for all the encouraging words. I think this weather has finally gotten to me. All this snow and cold!! I checked the thermometer and it is only 4 degrees outside. CALGON!!! TAKE ME AWAY!!!

I'm sure there are doctors there who will do fills on outside patients. This is what I did. I did a search on line of all doctors who do bariatric surgery within a 75 mile radius of where I live. I must have found about thirty different ones. I then got on the phone and called them all. I will admit that most said no but I ended up with about five different doctors who would gladly do my fills. I compared distances, and prices and then made my decision. I then came here to the forum and posted the doctors, location and prices here so someone here could benefit from my research. Things have worked out great. You just have to thinbk outside the box,

GOOD EVENING EVERYONE I want to thank everyone here for all the birthday greetings and the encouragement you've given me. Seems like every so often I need a good swift kick in the a$$. We just got back from visiting the grandkids. Took us twice as long to get home cause of the weather, but it was worth it. Those little ones just light up my world, even when the little one (5mos) took one look at me and screamed till I left the room. I finally got a smile out of her. My daughter and SIL took us out to dinner for my birthday and I have to admit that I really shouldn't have been able to eat all I did. Rib-eye steak, garlic-asiago mashed tatos mm-m-m-m-m Skipped desert though. And my NSV? After dinner we went to Meijer's (like walmart) and we walked around the store. Yes, WALKED. No carts were available so I walked. Well, I still have a lot to do tonight and the night is almost over. THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE ENCOURAGEMENT. HAVE A GREAT NIGHT AND TALK TO YOU ALL TOMORROW.

GOOD EVENING LADIES Jackie-you are not alone. I know how you feel. I went in for a fill today and well, I have to admit that I lost 8 lbs. last month but I cut back on food and have been pedaling at least 2 hours a day and I am frustrated here. I'm beginning to wonder Why Bother? I check in a couple times a day, but haven't posted cause I have nothing to say. It is a down night tonight and I need some chocolate, but there isn't any in the house. After my fill last month, I felt so-o-o close. So, doctor and I decided today to just tweak it. He added only .2cc and I have less restriction than I had last month. Janet- the potty thing. Yeah, me too, about every 4-5 days and I even use laxatives. POOH!! I've got another birthday coming up and am feeling really fat and old. ANYWAY, HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GOOD EVENING. TTYL

Updated: Insurance requirements with questions
kirajh replied to mschaffer66's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Depends on your BC plan. I have BCBS throu Teamsters and it's been over a year since they required a diet plan.
