My feet are numb from the socks down. I am 9 months out of banding and have lost 80 pounds. I am now off all insulin, Avandia and just take metformin for diabetes. The numbness in my feet has not gotten any better. Hasn't gotten any worse but.........

Do your research and talk with your doctor before making the decision. I decided to go with the lapband because it was less invasive than bypass. BUT..........one thing you have to remember, the band isn't a magic fix or a fast fix. IT IS A TOOL TO WEIGHT LOSS. I was banded 9 months ago and have lost 80 pounds so far. EASY???? No way. It's a lot of work, hard work. If you are not willing to do your part, go bypass.

Hi there.............I'm from Gregory, Mi. I wqs banded last summer in Tijuana by Dr. Ortiz. I go to Hillsdale for my fills. I am down 80 pounds so far with about 60 to go. I know exactly where you are coming from about doing things with your kids. I'm interested in getting together with others who have been banded. This site has been a lot of encouragement to me but a support group is better. You're from Lansing and the last poster is from Jackson, I'm halfway between the two of you. How about we all get together some time and chat?

Let's not even go there. Because of that one thing, I ended up in Mexico, paying cash. Today, I am 80 pounds less and no longer depressed.

HELLO ALL I couldn't get on at all yesterday and considered staying up and getting on in the wee hours of the morning, but I was too tired. Went to bed instead. Sure hope they get this site fine tuned and quit messing with it. PHYLL- I agree with Janet here. Just continue being normal. Act as if nothing has happened (at least in DD case) and eventually it should get better. Not that thqt helps any but............ GAS PRICES - Gas here in Mi varies. It's going up and down. One day it's $3.50 Next day we got it for $3.32 (5cent discount for using credit card) Then the next dy it was $3.69!!! OUTRAGEOUS I had a whole bunch of replies to make and now I don't remember. Thought of using the multi quote thing but figured it would be too long. Oh,..........these senior moments. I've been on sabatical from this diet. Well, I'm still careful and watch what I eat......I haven't gained. I'm maintaining. I have to get back on track. SCALES - We're still using one we got as a wedding present 35 years ago. Still works and is pretty even with dr's scale. SNACKS - Has anyone here tried Skinny Cow Ice cream sandwiches? My daughter gave me the heads up on these. They are really good. Can't tell the difference. They are 97% fat free, 140 calories, 3g. fiber and 0g trans fat. And they are decent size, too. YUMMY oKAY, THIS ENOUGH FOR NOW. WILL CHECK BACK LATER FOR MORE ACTION HERE. Hi Kim Welcome to lapbandtalk. This is a great place. I get my fills in Hillsdale also, by Dr. March. I really like them. I live up near stockbridge. Maybe we could get together sometime when I am down there for a fill.

Try going to THE WOMAN WITHIN. They had some really cute bathing suits that looked like shorts and tank tops and others that covered.......with reasonable prices. Weather here in Michigan is gorgeous too. Didn't think spring would ever get here. But, in Michigan, all you have to do is wait a day and everything changes. Just waiting for the other shoe to drop. I need to go finih my pedaling this morning, so I'll check in again later to see how everyone is doing.

I have the same problem with veggies. There is only a couple that I will eat. The other night, I took hamburger (ground turk, less calories) chopped up some fresh spinach, mixed spices and onions and made some meat patties. They were yummy. I've also grated one or two carrots in meatloaf.. They really enhance the flavor. Zucchini is another veggie that is easy to eat because it doesn't really have any taste. Add it to spaghetti, chicken dishes etc. It is a good harmless way to get your veggies in.

Don't worry about the size, Jackie. My eyesight is not what it used to be. I need them big to see them. I could see that your daughter is gorgeous and so happy. Phyll = did you reserve your work-out tape for Wii? Steph - I've been thinking about that total gym since I saw it on TV a while ago. If it's good enough for Christie Brinkley, it's good enough for me. Only thing I didn't see, was the cost. How Much is it? I've been checking out gyms and dang, they're expensive...and then you have to figure in the price of gas. (closest one is 25 min away). Denise - BR...............my life long dream. And now with the weight loss, there is a lot of very loose skin. We Celebrated GS third birthday today. Little guy was just exhausted. Had a great time though. Made some good food choices for me. I'm pretty proud of myself. Had celery, burger patty,(couldn't figure which was turkey or burger) No bun and a spoonful of potato salad. And yes, I did have a small piece of chocolate cake but no ice cream. And lots of water. Tried to talk dh into burger king on the way home but I resisted. (after he refused...then agreed) I really have to get myself back on track.

It was 76 and very sunny today. Gotta tell you that I just love your emoticons. Where do you find them? Stephanie - Egg Rolls. Love 'em. I found a recipe for egg rolls in a Richard Simmons cookbook and he suggests that you spray the egg rolls with butter Pam and bake them in the oven. It's the frying part that adds the calories, isn't it? Janet - Guess I wasn't too far off with my definition of Peckish. Has to do with food. LOL I kind of like it though....PECKISH.. Bad Parent? Isn't that kind of hard to be when your kids are adults?? They have free will and so do you. They know right from wrong so don't mess with their heads. Tough love, all the way. That is really hard to say. My husband has BCBS of Mi. through the Teamsters and my fills have been covered. (less co-pay). The UAW usually negotiates decent coverage like the Teamsters so......

My first week banded, I had broth and drank water and orange juice. Any kind of juice will do. But, be sure to dilute it 50/50 or you will be spending a lot of time in the bathroom. The second and third week, I added protein drinks and liquid yougurt. (danactive). Being diabetic, for my protein drink, I drank Glucerna once a day. I didn't have any problems with my sugar levels.

Okay Janet. Dont go throwing words out there without a definition. Anyway, let me take a guess at it. Peckish........picky? Like a chicken pecking at grain and gravel? Phyll - I love a lot of the Newsboys songs.........but they are loud. I remember taking dd to see DCTalk and I couldn't hear anything for a week. Managed to get in about 4-5 bottles of water yesterday. I've already drank one this morning. Seems I'm most thirstiest at night. I can guzzle about three bottles easy then. DRINK YOUR WATER, LADIES. I've worn a size 2X or a 22 like forever (it seems) When I was looking on line last night, it said that a 2X was size 26-28 (used to be 22-24) and a 1X was 22-24. So what size should I buy? Saw my pcp today......I am down a total of 79 lbs. And I no longer have to take my insulin. WHOOPEE!!!! And he took me off one of my blood pressure meds. Slowly but surely, one step at a time. How many times did you have to get up in the night to pee, Janet? I don't have trouble getting my water in. My eyeballs are usually floating by the time I go to bed at night. Phyll - I guess you can pack away those red ruby slippers for the summer now that you are home. Bet it felt great to sleep in your own bed. Gotta go get some water. TTYL

Okay, Ladies...............I'm as ready as I will ever be............I am in the middle of a major power struggle between my head and my stomach. One is satisfied and the other wants something but doesn't know what. And, I've reached another plateau..but it's probably from all that grazing. At least I'm not gaining. I see Dr. March in Hillsdale for my fills. My surgery itself was done in Mexico. I am very happy with Dr. March. I believe the name of the group is Hillsdale Surgical.

Hello ladies. I'm here...lurking...not much to say......feeling a lot like Jackie. You're not alone, Jackie. I'm right there with you. Daughter came down yesterday with the grandkids. Then she left them with DH and me and went and had her hair done. Karina decided to play strange and wanted mommy.....screamed almost the whole two and half hours she was gone. For some reason, the little girl doesn't like me. Gavin was pretty good. Then this morning Both daughters decided to go shopping. I had had a melt down before they got back. Gavin was whiny, not feeling good and just being a typical almost three year old. Karina was a little sweetie, full of smiles but Gavin............ They just left to go back home. I love those little ones dearly but I guess I'm not doing as good as I thought I was, (mentally) I was glad to see them go. Daughter said Gavin was asleep before she was a mile away from the house. That's where I've been the past couple days. Plus the DH is always underfoot since retirement. I've got to think of some way to get him out and about. He is just delighted to sit around with just him and me...............I see the pounds going back on. OH NO!!! Anyway, HAVE A GREAT WEEK-END, MAKE GOOD CHOICES.... I hate it too, when we lose power. No heat, and we're out in the country. No sewers. Wells. No water and no flushing toilets.
