Oh Jackie, my heart goes out to you. I really don't know what to say except I'm here for you. I think Linda had some excellent advice. It sounds to me like you are a great mom and maybe a little tough love would be just what she needs to realize that. Counseling is also a great idea. Sounds to me that she is crying out for help. Steph and Karri also had good insight into this. Just know that we are ALL here for you. This is the place to come and vent. and to rejoice or whatever. The one thing I can tell you, is that it will get better. Might take a while, but.................................. Karri - great job on the running. I can't even imagine me running 10 feet, much less six miles. Of course, when you hit my age, you probably won't be running either. LOL Steph - Good job on the the eliptical. I tried it when I was in Florida and lasted 55 seconds till my back gave out. Never got on it again. Just recently, I realized I have to build myself up to it. Just like I did with pedaling. Janet - Hope you had a great time at the concert. Haven't heard any thing from you since Friday. Did you talk Trace into eloping? or maybe a fling? HAVE A GREAT DAY ! ! ! I'LL CHECK BACK LATER. DON'T FORGET TO DRINK YOUR WATER.
-
Phyll - She sounds more like the contrary, obnoxious threes to me. Here's a button for you to u=cut out and wear, today. Or there is this one.

It is very quiet here today. Must be the nice weather outside. I am on my fourth bottle of water today. I'm down about 4 pounds this week. Finally have restriction. (about time). I'm looking around to join a gym. I found one that's only about 15 minutes away and it is $90.00 for 90 days. Does this sound reasonable? I saw on TV last week that Bally's is $19.oo down/19.00 a month but it is more than twice as far. Every place I've checked is a whole lot more expensive. Including the Y. So, for now, I'm just pedaling. I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A VERY HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY. MAKE GOOD FOOD CHOICES AND DON'T FORGET YOUR WATER. TTYL

Janet - Terrible news. Did they catch the guy? or did DIL recognise him? You've reached goal lady. Don't feel guilty about the pizza. You deserve every bite of it. But I know you only ate one or two pieces.[/url] Steph - does your scale have an adjustment? Mine, you can change the dial to make up differences, but the difference is only two pounds between mine and the drs and i get on mine, nekked and am fully dressed, including shoes at the drs. I really think I'm there. Four days since fill and I still can't eat a whole lot. I just keep wondering what took so long. Karri - good for you.....getting qll that running in. Just don't hurt yourself doing it. Me, I'm a wuss. Forget running, but today, went shopping with DH and did a whole lot of walking. This smiley says it best.............so, I will check in tomorrow. Sleep tight.

WAY TO GO, JANET! i AM SO PROUD OF YOU. YOU ROCK GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Jo-Jo It takes me about 2 hours more or less to get to Grand Rapids. Depends on what area you're going to. Are you new to Stockbridge? How long have you been banded and how are you doing? I was banded last July in Mexico and go to Hillsdale Surgical for fills. I'm really happy with them, they are one of the least expensive places for fills and it is only an hour and fifteen minutes from Stockbridge. Quite a bit closer than Grand Rapids. Maybe we could get together some time or if you need any info, feel free to e-mail me at kirajh@yahoo.com. Kari

I asked my fill dr. about liquids after a fill, and he said no, I could eat whatever I can handle. I haven't had any problems except for that one time with the Sammi from Quiznos and I made soup for dinner that night and all was fine after that. I don't even notice swelling or pain after a fill. Hey, maybe I really didn't get banded and all these fills are placebos. P.S. I think I figured how to get the smileys to move around. Gotta keep the right click pressed.
-
QUESTION - I finally figured the smileys, now, How do you get them to go where you want them?? My sweet dreaming smiley didn't go where I wanted it to.
-
Janet - sounds like a bunch of wusses at your house. No hot water?? Haven't they heard of cold showers? LOL Karri - I hate to say this, but I sure am glad you pigged out on licorice. It sure is good to know that I'm not the only one who likes (and eats) candy. And I still have quite a ways to goal. Okay, I mentioned earlier that I had a fill this morning. Tell me, Is this restriction? For lunch, I was stuffed after a half of an Arby's flat bread melt. Then I kept burping. Water feels like it is sitting in my throat. and I keep burping. Couldn't drink water for at least an hour after dinner (boca patty and califlower) when usually I can guzzle a bottle down after half an hour. I have gotten four bottles down and the way I feel now, this is it for the day. I'm treading water now. BUT I'M NOT HUNGRY ! ! ! Nothing has gotten stuck though..not in any pain. Is this the sweet spot?? SLEEP TIGHT EVERYONE AND I WILL TALK TO YOU TOMORROW. HAVE ANOTHER BOTTLE OF WATER IF YOU NEED ONE. SWEET DREAMS.
-
Restriction??? What's that?? I was banded last July (in Mexico) and have had fills every four weeks since October. I'm up to 10cc in a large VG band (dr. said it is between 10-14cc) I had a fill this morning and think I may be there. Don't want to jinx it though. Sometimes it just takes a while. I have been losing between 7 and 10 lbs per month. (total 80)
-
Afternoon, ladies. Steph - I don't know if you can OD on water, but you might drown though. Phyl - so glad DD is talking again. It's the pits when they don't. But, you handled it right and it drove her crazy. Sometimes I think they just do it for attention. I just got back from my fill. I don't know if I've hit my spot yet, but I have to admit, this is the tightest I've been so far. Dr. went back and checked my records and I've been losing between 7 and ten pounds a month. Last month, I lost 7. I said I was in a rut and I guess I was. What is so strange, is, the dr. pulls out fluid each month and then he's been adding .1. But each month, when he pulls it out, there is a whole lot more than the month before. Last month, when checked, I had about 9.4cc. This month, I had 10cc. Back to my water. I'm now on number three. I am stuffed. TTYL

Well, from what I can see here, I'm the only one without a Wii. Probably won't either. We Got Nintendo way back when, after everyone else had it. The same with Sega. DH never played the things, and without the kids around, we'll probably never get it. Of course, if I could get him to do something, and go somewhere, maybe we'd end up somewhere where someone has it and he'd try it and like it. Yeah, right, in my dreams. Well, managed to get two bottles of water down today. At least two more to go. I'm starting to get tired of treading water. Jackie, don't beat your self over a couple fries. I mean, a small order, shared with two others, What, that's maybe eight fries or something like that. Well, I'm not really superstitious, but I do know that you don't mess with "THE EVIL ONE", So I hope we are off of it now. I'll so my part here. Since everyone is talking about shopping, I was at Walmart yesterday and decided to try on some jeans. They went on. A little snug at the waist and a little loose in butt and thighs....But they fit. We won't go into size though. I think from all I've read here that I need to keep looking and trying on for a better fit. What kind ....or what store, do you guys seem to like? It's been years since I wore or bought any jeans and back then, guys and gals all bought the same jeans. By waist size. OKAY, I WILL CHECK IN LATER TO SEE IF JANET OR KARRI ARE BACK. I KNOW THEY BOTH HAD A GREAT TIME. KEEP ON DRINKING LADIES. TTYL

Only four bottles down today. I'm not very hungry so I'm not drinking as much. Checked out a gym this afternoon. It's only about 15 minutes from here and not so expensive. 90 days for $90.00. Nothing fancy, just machines and a locker room with showers. The only other one almost that close is $300. to join and $69./month. Of course, they have the pools, whirlpool, sauna, steamroom and all the machines............but dang, that's a lot of money!! PHYL - Hope you feel better. If you can figure out who gave you the flu, I'll come kick some butt for you. That's not nice to do. JANET - have fun. Not too much liquid refreshment. Of course, that will keep thoose flu germs away, but we don't want those extra calories.

Just finished #5. Steph - that reminds me of a story about my dad. He was one to treat himself and not go to the doctors. He'd go to the corner drugstore and the druggist would give him a bottle of penicillan. He had this really bad cold once and after about a week of taking them, he wasn't feeling any better. So, he sent me to the drugstore to find out just what he was taking. Turned out to be diet pills. LOL No wonder he wasn't sleeping and not feeling better. Your exersize plan sounds good to me. You can do it.

Third bottle of water. Well, I downloaded the smileys but it took a while for it to get on the tool bar. I see it there now so I'm gonna try it out. It works. Thanks guys. I'm working on DH. I think I can talk him into it. I can't make the drive by myself and it really is too close to spend the extra money to fly. Okay Phyl, I guess I'm sounding a lot like our hubbies here. Basically, since I have never had to budget, I'm trying to figure out how much we spend a month compared with how much we get. So far it all seems doable but then we haven't had any big bills come in since he retired. HAVE A GOOD DAY.................TTYL Oh yes, Janet, Love Rascal Flats. That's one of country's best.

Good mornng, good morning, good morning. The sun is shining this morning and the weather is warming up again. I'm down one bottle of water so far, and pedaled 75 mins. If the weather holds (we're in Michigan) I'm gonna try walking again. Phyl - Maybe I can talk DH into coming to MofA. Your DH sounds just like mine. they should get along like two peas in a pod. Don't feel too bad about upsetting DD. What is important is that you are there for GD. That's something she won't forget and besides, that's our job as Grammas. Karri - I am so glad that it isnt serious with your foot. There's nothing worse than being discouraged from doing something you enjoy. Peaches - Good going with the DQ. Hope you got it out of your system. You can get away with it once in a while. As for not being able to eat it......that's what is known as a God Smack. Thumb your nose, and he'll always get you, one way or another. Hey, if you drive to MofA and go thru the UP, you can leave your machine at the border and we can drag Janet across the border. Janet - LOL I'm just kidding. Yeah, I don't smoke........anymore, that is....and still enjoy all that second hand smoke. If it still tastes good, I say go for it. Wish I could still smoke, I really enjoyed it (most of the time). If I go to MofA, I'll make sure I enjoy some of that second hand smoke. HAVE A GOOD DAY LADIES, DRINK YOUR WATER...........GOT TO GO AND SEE IF I CAN DOWNLOAD SMILEYS. THANKS EVERYONE.
-
I'm getting ready to start my sixth bottle of water for the day. Phyll -, where do you get those darling little smilies?? I need to find a floating one. Exersize - My exersize goal is to pedal everyday. I aim for one hour..............mostly do more but sometimes (usually Sundays) I do less. The only times that I did not exersize at all were the two days to and from Florida. Steph - That being said, I think you can do your challenge. 30 min. a day isn't a whole lot especially since most days you'll do more. Janet - Your fears aren't silly. Heck, I had my mammy the other day and they called me today and I have to go back and have them redone. I'm hoping the change is because of the weight loss and not the big C. Has anyone else here have a difference in their mammy since being banded? Karri - What happened at the doctors with your foot? Did I miss it here? Don't mess around with it. Screw up the feet and it's very possible to screw the weight loss. We don't want that. My May ex. challenge - I am going to try to add weights and/or walking to my pedaling. I'm afraid to say everyday cause I don't think I'd do it, so I will say 5 times a week. That's my goal for May. I WILL TALK TO YA ALL LATER, I HAVE TO GO MAKE MY BLADDER GLADDER.
-
four and a half bottles of water and still drinking. I'm floating! ! !

First, you guys make me hungry by talking about food...........now you are all over exerting my brain. I am a blonde, you know. LOL Give me a break. Gonna start my third bottle of water so I should get it all in today. Gave myself a break today, went to Subway for lunch. I forgot to post my NSV yesterday. Anyway, when I was hospitalized four years ago, they removed my wedding rings and by the time I was released, my ring indentation had filled in and I couldn't get my rings on. They would slide over the knuckles but then go no further. Then, I put on the weight after quitting smoking. I tried them on yesterday. Slid right on, right where they are sposed to be. They even turn. Man, they feel weird. Got to get used to them. DH has too much time on his hands. Decided he needed a haircut and was too cheap to pay the price for a haircut. He gave himself a buzz cut...........Looks like a cone-head now. I told him I was too embarrassed to go anywhere with him till it grew out. Got to find something for that man to do. Hm-m-m-m maybe I can get him a one way ticket on a slow boat to China. Nah, he'd still have too much time on his hands. MAKE GOOD CHOICES AND DRINK YOUR WATER. TTYL

Grass Lake works for me, too. I'm about 25 minutes from there. -
Man this thing is slow tonight!! I've had time to take a short catnap while waiting for pages to come up.:blushing: I just finished my fourth bottle of water. will probably have at least one more before bed. Steph=Love the idea. go for it. I am pretty much computer illiterate. This is about it for me.........so, go ahead. I can't wait to see it.

As for telling people about my band, I only told my hairdresser and hubby told a couple of our close friends who live in Kansas and Quebec. I agree with you on the band getting all the credit and I don't think it's fair. I believe I wouldn't have been this successful without it, but it was still me that did all the hard work, walked all the fat off, sweat buckets in the gym, ate food that I didn't want but knew was better for me and cried all the tears when the whole process got me down. My hairdresser is a lovely girl. It's always so nice when I go in there every 6 weeks and her eyes light up and she tells me how different I look. She knows of another friend who had the surgery around the same time I did and she tells me she doesn't see much difference at all in him. I told her that he probably isn't using the band to its full abilities. It's not a magic fix-it. I had no idea it would take this much hard work to lose as I am. And if I'm completely honest, I probably wouldn't have opted for it when I did if I had known. I'm lazy by nature and was forever looking for the easy way out to lose my weight. Nothing was easy. The band isn't either, but it is successful for me and that's what matters most of all. It would have taken me probably another 50 or 100lbs before I got desperate enough to take serious action if I'd known beforehand exactly what I was getting myself into. But I certainly don't have any regrets. I complain and moan about so many things on this journey, and I think it helps to be in the company of people who understand and take their own turns on the soapbox when they need it without fear of being looked down on. There have been 3 reasons for my success. My band, my band sisters and me. They share equal billing. i TELL EVERYONE THAT I HAD THE SURGERY, BUT I ALSO FOLLOW UP WITH THE FACT THAT IT ISN'T A QUICK FIX...IT'S A LOT OF HARD WORK. I have to agree with you about being lazy. That's me. I really thought it would be a lot easier that it is and I make sure everyone knows it Jackie - If I didn't know different, I'd think you lived in Michigan. Last week, temps were in the seventies, now we're in the forties. Yuck. Congrats on the casino winnings. What are you planning to spend it all on? Going clothes shopping?? Isn't it amazing how your kids can really surprise you? Janet - Sounds to me as if Meth is the drug of choice all over. I know, there are a whole lot of meth labs around us, being rural and all. Steph - I really want to know about that total gym........if it would be worth getting with a bum knee. I'm like Jackie (i think it's her).....we live out in the middle of nowhere and to go grocery shopping or to the mall, or anywhere else for that matter, it takes 30 minutes. I've been thinking of joining up with a gym but with the price of gas, that total gym would be good for me. Except that I don't have a basement and would have to put it in the living room.

KNOCK IT OFF GUYS ! ! ! ! I'm getting hungry just reading what everyone is eating. DD is home today for dinner so I'm going to make spaghetti and use multi-grain pasta. Had chicken salad in a half pita for lunch. Oh yeah......had some salt in the form of potato chips for a snack. IS THAT THE FOOD COPS I HEAR YELLING? I chewed really really good after licking the salt off them. Probably would have been better off with just the salt shaker, but that doesn't taste to good. Yesterday I pedaled for 2 hours and then.............are you ready for this? I went out and walked. Not far. But I walked....maybe 1/8 mile or so...........with a bum knee.........gonna have to work up to more time. Weather turned cold here though, so gotta wait for it to warm up a bit. I've gotten in about 50 minutes today so far. I hope to get back on later for more but I am just a bit stiff from yesterday. TTYL..................HAVE A GREAT DAY.

bpenney I am about the same distance from Chelsea as you are except I'm north, in gregory. Maybe we can get together in Chelsea some time. My e-mail is my user name at Yahoo.com. Feel free to e-mail me any time. Any one else too, who would like to meet up.
