Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
kirajh replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Charlene I was banded last July 16 and my Granddaughter was born Aug. 20. I was completely healed by then and lost thirty some odd pounds. Even babysat my three year old grandson. -
Not only did DD tell me I was getting too skinny, she told me she was proud of me. That she didn't believe I had it in me. I looked over at DH and saw him snickering. So I told her that that was okay, her dad didn't think I had it me either. And he admitted it. It feels so great to prove them wrong. HAVE A GREAT DAY, STAY COOL AND GET YOUR WATER IN.
-
PHYL-Sounds like you had a great time. BUT........did you see any whales? You mention food quite a bit, but I figure you didn't see any whales cause you weren't turned off food. LOL This morning at church, my dear, darling baby girl came up to me and told me I was getting too skinny. BLESS HER HEART. I think she's my favorite out of my three kids. HAVE A GOOD DAY. KEEP COOL AND DON'T FORGET TO DRINK YOUR WATER.

kARRI - 145...............I'm jealous. My goal is 150 Went up north with DH to see his cousin and I made him stop at the Outlet Mall on our way home since we drove right by it. Went to the Lane Bryant Outlet and got four new shirts. SIZE 14-16!!! Told my daughter and she told me she's never known me at that size. LOL But I can't get pants to fit right. Elastic waists that fit great.......butt, hips and thighs are huge!! Told DH i didn't think I would find pants to fit till I got rid of all that excess skin in my belly. CONGRATULATIONS Phyll on the birth of those two grand daughters. What are their names?? Better watch out though, it is really fun to shop for little girls.

I'D LOVE HIM, TOO IF HE SAID THAT TO ME.

Hi, I was banded last July in Mexico and have lost 94 pounds. I am from Michigan also, Livingston County. Feel free to e-mail me if I can help you or answer any questions for you. I'm at kirajh@yahoo.com What part of Mi are you from and where are you having the surgery? I live on the border of Washtenaw, Livingston, Jackson and Ingham counties. I would like to start a support group, meeting with other bandsters.

Ok, I pressed quote and it went directily here so I haven't read any of the other posts so maybe I'll have to add later. One suggestion I have to offer is something DH family does for showers. Rther than spend money on wrappings and ribbons, put gift in a grocery bag and add a non-perishable food item. Help stock the newlyweds kitchen cupboards.

CONGRATULATIONS, KARRIE ! ! !WAY TO GO GIRL. you have my utmost respect. I don't think I could run to save my life. Keep up the good work. SHORT UPDATE ON ME: I canceled my fill tomorrow. I do NOT need it. (about time) This cold I have has really knocked me for a loop. Healthy, I have a lung capacity of around 70%(smoking and legionaire's disease) so I figure it's probably only around 50%. Pedaled an hour this morning and then went to the gym. Did a half mile on the treadmill and then the weight machines. I am totally exhausted. NAPTIME ! ! I've been reading a lot about sizes here, lately. Can you believe, 93 pounds and one size. ONE SIZE ! ! ! That sucks. I'm getting tired of going around looking like a clown but I am too cheap to get new clothes. It's too depressing to only be one size smaller. Why bother? Frustrating. OKAY, ENOUGH PITY PARTY HERE. TIME FOR LUNCH. WILL CHECK BACK LATER. DON'T FORGET YOUR WATER, LADIES. HAVE A GREAT DAY. ENJOY

First Steps take - nervous and depressed?
kirajh replied to SciTeach's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You are doing the right thing. There is nothing more than being FAT to make you depressed. Tell me,........I know all about it. I was banded last July and have lost an average of 8-10 lbs per month for a total of 93. The main reason I went lapband instead of bypass was the fact that I didn't want to "do without". Last month, I finally got the restriction I'm sposed to have, but if I hqave a craving for something.......hey, I have it.....just in moderation. Yeah, I could probably have lost more, but I haven't been deprived at all and HEY.................maybe I didn't lose................BUT I DIDN'T GAIN ANY. And still managed to lose 93 pounds. Only about 45 more to go and then I can honestly say........'I'VE LOST HALF OF ME!" GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATS ON YOUR CHOICE. -
KUDOS, Steph, for having the guts (not really the word I want, but....) to post your concerns to Karri. I have to admit that the same thoughts have occurred to me, but never brave enough to say anything. I have to agree with Candice though, you guys are all blessings. I know I couldn't do it without any of you. We're all here for you Karrie, if for aome obscure reason you backtrack, so you can rest easy and chill out.........don't be so obsessive. One candy bar won't be the end of your size 4's. We won't let it happen!! That is what is so great about this site........THE SUPPORT. TAKE CARE ALL, HAVE A GREAT EVENING, MAKE GOOD CHOICES AND DON'T FORGET TO DRINK YOUR WATER!!! this message sent with love.

Here I am. I've been lurking, just not posting. I caught a nasty cold from the grandbabies and haven't felt this bad in years. Then, I'm frustrated cause the scale is stuck at that zero number again. I joined a gym and try to go every other day. Still pedaling everyday. That's about it for me. Nothing interesting going on, so if *I don't post, it's not because I am not here.......just nothing to say, Have a good day. TTYL

Beautiful, Phyll. And That Includes You Too. You're Looking Good!!
-
I talked with the U around a year ago and they told me that they hadn't done any bands yet.........and that it was a very long process to get approved. That was all I needed to know.
-
Karri - How tall are you? Back in high school and college, I weighed between 145 and 155. Now As I mentioned in the last post, I'm 5'9". Now, back then, I wasn't fat, but, by no means was I a skinny minnie. I'd say, I was average. In fact, hot. So, unless you are as tall as me, I wouldn't worry about losing more pounds. You're also building muscle. What's wrong with that? Yesterday, I did pretty good. Couldn't sleep so I got up early, showered and got my pedaling in before church. Then we headed out to see the grandbabies and babysit. I put the baby in the stroller and we went walking. I don;'t know just how far it was, Seemed like a couple miles, but in reality, it was probably only about a mile total. I had big plans to go join a gym today, but decided to hold off till tomorrow. I went by the pace the other day and they had a big sign saying they were having a sale and could join up for $199. for the year. Now that is more my speed.

Ruby - Love the way you explained things. That is how I feel. I'm going to struggle with certain foods for the rest of my life, so if the urge hits, I don't beat myself up over it. I figure if I don't gain, I'm doing good. So far, it's working. Maybe I'm not losing as fast as I could be, but I'm not deprived and I'm a whole lot healthier. That is why I got the band. A lot of people come up to me and call me skinny........5'9" and 200 lbs is still a long way from skinny but I guess if you compare it to what I used to be.....yeah, I'm skinny.

Willpower! ! ! What's that? I don't think I know that word. LINDA - Have fun at the Riviera Maya. My daughter keeps telling us we have to go. She loves it. Just do a lot of walking and swimming.
-
Hey Linda - I like you, You give out excellent advice. I know who I'm going to next time I have a problem. I did really good at lunch. I ordered the soup and salad. Ate the soup.......could only pick at the salad. I'm drinking my third water today and going to have a boca burger for dinner. I got a big shock when I took my shower this morning. Got on the scale and I'm down another three pounds. Two away from onederland. It's been at least thirty years since I've seen those numbers on the scale. TIME TO GET DINNER ON................MAKE GOOD CHOICES AND DON'T FORGET TO DRINK YOUR WATER. WE ALL NEED TO DO OUR PART IN FILLING OUR LANDFILLS. lol
-
Good Morning. Sunday, we all went out to dinner for Mothers dqy and DD's birthday. We ended up at Applebys. I ordered French onion soup and a chicken frajita wrap. I knew I wouldn't be able to eat all of the wrap, but would you believe I got four meals out of it? I'm going out to lunch today with a group of women from church and I've never been to this restaurant before so I hope I can find something to eat. Jackie - You were NOT too hard on your kids. I did have to laugh at the thought of DH not wanting to stay home and listen to them bicker. Smart man. OOPS!! JUST LOOKED AT THE TIME. GOTTA GO JUMP IN THE SHOWER. I'M GONNA MAKE GOOD CHOICES TODAY. DO THE SAME...........AND DON'T FORGET YOUR WATER.

I was banded last July. I just had my 7th(?) fill and I now have somewhere around 10cc in a large VG band. I now have restriction. I think it is the sweet spot. Before this last fill, I could eat anything. One thing you have to do, is start exersizing. I have a bum knee so I pedal an exersize bike for at least an hour a day and have averaged between 7 - 10 pounds per month.

Kalamazoo 269-978-0610 Consultation is $100.00/if fill done on same day it is $250. additional fills are $200.00 Holland - I couldn't find that info but I think it is Barix. check the yellow pages. they are the only bariatric drs in the area that will do fills on outside patients. GOOD LUCK FINDING A DOCTOR.
-
I can help ! ! I too was banded in Mexico and I know what you are going thru trying to find a fill doctor. I got on line and made a list and called every bariatric dr in a hundred mile radius, including Grd. Rpds. I live in Livingston County but my daughter and grandbabies live in Allendale. Kalamazoo will do outside fills and so will Barix (I think). They are in Holland. I was going to go there but I found someone closer and cheaper. I have posted it somewhere here so I'll try to find it and will post the info.

Hi Stacey and welcome to LBT. What part of the Michigan Countryside are you from? I live in Livingston County. I was banded in July in tijuana by Dr. Ortiz. Clear liquid is water, protein water, clear broth or fruit juice. A little advice on the fruit juice. we were told by the nutritionist to mix it half and half with water, otherwise diarhea. Well, since I have the opposite problem, I didn't dilute it and yes......diarhea. Good luck
