Well, took DH and headed for the outlet mall this afternoon. Started at Liz Claiborne, thinking I could find something for my HS reunion next week-end. Business Casual.....something classy. Nothing there, Then went to Lane Bryant. Size 14 pants were too big all over. Did find a cute sweater though that is perfect for the reunion. Then I hit the jackpot at VanHeusens. Ended up buying two pair of dress pants that fit just the way Stacy and Clinton say they should. Two more sweaters and three t-shirts. Then went to Wallyworld and got a couple more tops and a pair of shoes. DD also gave me two pair of jeans today. Old Navy, size 12. Wahoo!!! Well, I should have enough clothes to wear till I hit goal. Then it will be back to the stores and start over. I still hate shopping but I did enjoy myself a little.:w00t:

Good Morning!!! Took two tylenol before bed last night. I wasn't sore this morning. Pedaled this morning for 75 minutes and no gym today. Gonna hit the stores this afternoon. The weather is getting too cold here to wear shorts. I hate shopping. Well, the fat me did. Maybe the slimmer me will like it again. Who knows? we'll see. Janet - Loved what you chose to wear. :cool2: If they don't use your before and after......they need their heads examined. You look fantastic. Ruby - Well, it's almost afternoon, so I'd better go hop in the shower and get dressed. And make lunch. I boiled up two eggs.....gonna chop them up, add some relish and mayo. Egg Salad, no bread. I really like that and fills me up.

OH-H-H-H I'm gonna be hurtn' tomorrow. Got up this morning, pedaled my bike for 70 minutes.......got dressed and went to the gym. 35 minutes on resistance machines..........then 35 minutes on the treadmill (2.9mph, incline 1-4). Then tonight, I climbed back on my bike (had to finish my book) and pedaled another 70 minutes. Then, would you believe, I went into the kitchen to get a bottle of water, and ended up eating three oatmeal cookies, (and they weren't even homemade) Breakfast - one pop tart 210 calories Lunch - chicken (with egg) salad sandwich ???calories Snack - 1 cherry 7-up 150 calories Dinner - baked chicken lean cuisine 220 calories. Snack - 3 oatmeal cookies ???calories 3 1/2 bottles of water Would have done really good and wouldn't have minded all the aches and pains in the morning if I hadn't eaten those two snacks. Tomorrow's another day. Gotta do better. Janet - what did you finally decide to wear for your commercial? I can't wait to see it. Steph -

Pam A fill won't make you less hungry, but you should get full faster. You'll know when you get the restriction you should have. It took me around ten months to get to that point. That's not to say I don't work at it. And mostly the hunger I have is head hunger. My doctor says that the average weight loss per month is 8-10 pounds.

RUBY - You make me laugh, girl. I needed a good laugh today. PHYL- Bathing suits. That reminds me, my class reunion is in two weeks and I'll be staying at a a hotel with a pool and spa. And, I live in Michigan. All the bathing suits have been put in mothballs for the winter. SOLEIL - Welcome. Glad you came over. I just want you to know that everyone here has our best interests at heart. Exersize is super important. When I first started my journey, I had bqad knees. (they're still bad) and couldn't get around too good. I have an exersize bike and I pedal for an hour every morning. This is when I get my reading out of the way. You could do something like that while doing your homework. Also, your college or school should have a gym where you can work out. Or a pool where you can swim laps (if swimming is your thing). Also, community ed at your local schools should have some kind of workout program. Or, to be really inexpensive, get a workout video. Cardio workouts are good for burning calories. 1/2 a day is good for a start. I find it hard to get through the day without my pedaling now that I've been doing it for a year. It becomes normal.

Okay, here's my take on regaining weight after bypass. With bypass, you don't have to do anything to lose weight. It just happens. Your body will becme accustomed to food that you couldn't eat at first (like sugars) and you will start eating more and stretch your pouch. With Carney, she put most of the weight back on after childbirth. The band is a tool. If you don't eat right, don't excersize, don't get your water in...............YOU DON'T LOSE. Hey, you do have to work at it to lose with the band. It isn't a quick fix. I've lost over a hundred pounds so far and you know, I'm kind of embarrassed to admit that I have the band. It took over eight months to get restriction for me, so I've done most of the work on my own. AND I AM PROUD OF IT. Once, you hit goal, you can get some of your fill removed so you can eat more to maintain your weight. And if you start gaining, you can always go and get another fill. What can you do with the bypass? I've heard of people who have gotten the band after the bypass surgery failed. Now does that make sense?

Becky, you're a lucky seven too. Please join us, we'd love to have you and chat with you.

I came across a post as I was browsing the site tonight. It was under Introductions..............titled "HELLO ALL" by Soleil. She was banded the same time as all of us but isn't doing well at all. She said she wished she had found this site a whole lot sooner. Any way, I invited her to join us here and thought I'd let you know about her so you could maybe give her a warm welcome and invite her to join us. I know that we could all help her as you've been all a great support to me.

CONGRATULATIONS, PHYL on walking the stores. Isn't it a terrific feeling? I get so hyped up when I walk Walmart and Meijers now. It feels so good. I've got a CR-V too. I love it. You are so funny,. Love the attitude. Okay, where is everyone tonight? I have to admit that I was sweating a lot at the gym today, but I didn't think I smelled that bad. I'm hoping to get back on track here. I've spent the last couple weeks eating more calories (yes, junk too) and keeping the exersize steady so I don't gain. Got to get this body out of starvation mode. HAVE A GREAT NITE ALL.
-
Hello Soleil, and Welcome. I was banded last july also. I'd like to invite you to join us at the Lucky Seven Thread, for 2007. We've all become a close group and the support offered is so encouraging and helpful.. We are always delighted to meet new members.

Where are all the Michigan people at??
kirajh replied to Cinnaberry's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Slim and Trim Where in Michigan are you from? I'm 58 and live in Livingston county. I don't come to this site often Cause it is very quiet and folks are usually pretty quiet here. I've been wanting to get together with others from Mi and start our own little support group but, so far no luck. Only one or two people responded positively. I know how you feel about your hubby though, Mine is still wearing the same old clothes he did way back when. And, he keeps my kitchen supplied with goodies like chips, cookies, soda, etc. But, I'm doing good. It's been 14 months since banding and have lost 115 pounds. Only about 20 more to goal. Hope to hear back from you. Feel free to e-mail me at any time. I'm at yahoo.com. -
jANET I have to agree whole-heartedly with what you said. I feel the same way. Heck, if we have to bail out all those fiscally irresponsible people, next thing you know, the other banks need bailing, then the auto companies.........who by the way are the biggest out sourcers there is out there. Have you ever walked a car lot and looked where the vehical was put together. Yeah, BUY AMERICAN. Right. That's why we have Hondas. You know, you have a point. Shut up Kari.......you're getting yourself worked up............ RUBY - Janet has some excellent advice. It makes a lot of sense to me. Net calories don't make any sense to me. There have been days when I've exersized and come out in the negative for calories and the scale doesn't move. Stay under 1200 and exersize. It'll work. {Phyll - Yeah, maybe the kids didn't do so hot, but you were there to support them. That's what counts. What they will remember. Karri - So sorry to hear about your MIL. From what you've said, it wasn't unexpected, but still hard to handle. Take care. We'll be praying for you and DH. Candace, - Only one thing to say,............Moms are like that.yeah, they are. I've been bad today. Went up north to DH cousin's 80th birthday. I will admit to eating a lot of fruit and veggies. You know, Carrot cake,.....lemon bars.......apple crisp........oh, and some fresh veggies with dip. And Chicken. Didn't get my water in either. Oh well, I guess you only turn 80 once. HAVE A GOOD NIGHT ALL. SLEEP TIGHT.

Hi The best advice that I could give you, is RELAX ! ! ! Dr. Ortiz runs a first class operation down in TJ. I was banded by him last year and it was the best decision I have ever made. (well, next to hitching up with my hubby) Get on the phone, call all the bariatric places and doctors within a 50 mile radius. That's what I did.....made about 25 phone calls and found four that would do outside fills. Thankfully, the cheapest one was the closest. ($110.00 and covered by my ins.) GOOD LUCK MAKING YOUR DECISION. AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT DR. ORTIZ. HE'S THE BEST.

Hey Phyl, What kind of life would we have without ma en to drive crazy? Isn't that why they were put on earth? LMAO is Laughing My Tushie Off, Congratulations, Steph. What an honor. Sounds like everyone is doing good today. I've been going since I got up this morning and I still have 40 minutes left to pedal. Guess I'd better get my rear in gear. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. TALK TO YOU ALL TOMORROW NIGHT.

I really don't have anything to say here, but Since no one has posted in a few hours, I thought I'd show myself and say HI ! ! ! HAVE A GREAT EVENING, ALL.

Thanks, Janet.

Hello folks spent the past couple days with grandbabies. They are so-o-o cute. We had a big family picnic and I didn't do too good with the food, although the scale hasn't moved. I haven't seen my nephew in about eight months or so and he told me I was getting tiny. (at 5'9"?) DD took some pics and mailed them to me............I don't know how to post them. Anyone out there want to do it for me? I'll e-mail the pics to you. Only problem is, I can't get them larger to view. Every time I try, the computer kicks me off. And the one I did see, looked pretty goofy, with closed eyes and all.

He said I was too full, the food was sitting in my pouch too long. He took .5cc's out. I feel a whole lot better. The reflux isn't bad and I can eat a little more but still get that full feeling. And the food is staying down now. Janet, My BFF was telling me about a friend of hers that had bypass surgery and then had plastic surgery. She had a tummy tuck and her arms done. She said the tummy tuck was a breeze compared to the arms. Well, I'd better go. I slept in till 10 this morning, missed my exersize group, had to get labs done, then went to see sister since I was so near..................so, I haven't gotten any pedaling in today at all. And only one water so far.

Thanks Janet. Now, the visual I have in my head is going to do me in. (too bad I'm in my jamies, I could have gone to the store. NOT)

Afternoon, Ladies. KARRI -Glad to see you're back and are doing better. You will get those 11 lbs off in no time. Doesn't it feel great to feel back in control. I made the comment a few days ago, that it felt great to be alive. Before the band, I was praying for death. Kudos to you for going off antidepressants. I'm not brave enough to go off my Zoloft. JANET - I called the doctors office today and I have an appointment tomorrow. I know everyone is right, but I just don't want to hear any bad news about my band. I'm scared. Threw up again last night but it was clear with bits of chewed up ham in it, (dinner) But, that was seven hours after eating. Shouldn't it have gone through and be digested till then? Elephant Ears. Yummy. it is kind of a dessert, a pastry. dough, rolled out and deep fried. Sprinkled with cinnamin and sugar or with pie filling on top. They are really loud when they call your name. PHYLL - Good for you for resisting those carnie foods. Especially those elephant ears. They are so good, although, I had one last summer and it just didn't taste quite as good as I remembered. DH talked me out of another one when I wanted to make sure they weren't as good. (different fair) Maybe you can talk your SIL to get lapband. My triglycerides were sky high too, but now they are on the low side of normal. (that's the best I could do for a carnival smiley.......but it is appropriate) Candace - Know what you mean about IKE. I went to the gym this morning and I couldn't believe how many yards and fields are waterlogged and flooded. It's been raining steadily here for three days now. Hard and soaking. Yeah, we needed the rain, but enough is enough. LINDA - Cheer up. We love you. That empty nest feeling is familiar. It's hard, but try to take control. You'll be fine in no time. Just say the hell with them all. Okay, gonna let you all go for now. Got a little wordy here and don't know how to shut up. Just tell me "SHUT UP< KARI" Gotta get my water in. Man is that hard. I've only gotten one bottle in today so far. I'll let you all know how it goes at the doctors tomorrow. I'm praying that it's nothing. Just a little unfill.

Well, yesterday I managed to stay on liquids till dinner time. I couldn't take it any more. Had some meat loaf and garlic potatoes. Then, right before I went to bed, I got nausious (sp) and threw up again. Same thing. Caught a little of it on a kleenex but it was too hard to figure it out. I really liked the suggestion of a baggie. I'll do it if it happens again tonight. My stomach does feel a little better today. I'm mostly sticking with liquids again (as much as I can) till dinner.
-
Way to go ! ! ! ! I used to ride my bike for hours after dinner, years ago. I loved it. Then I got fat and was too embarrassed to ride it. Now, my knees are just too bad to handle a regular bike. The best I can do is at least an hour a day, on a recumbant exersize bike.

I agree with Ruby, Janet. I especially like the black and white top with the white pants. I thought it looked hot.
