Has anyone else noticed how many users on this site have "nurse" or "RN" in our usernames? Ehy do you think that is?

Can you have peanut butter in the purée phase?
-
1 week post op on full liquids here. I can't get my mind off of food! Is this normal? I just want to chew something! I see my doc on Thursday and should be advanced to purees. Thursday cannot get here soon enough. I am dying for a scrambled egg.

Head Hunger Is In Full Effect
LynRN replied to LynRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Were you talking to me? I'm the OP. I was sleeved on 11/25. Why does it sound like I'm posting in the wrong forum (if u are talking to me, that is). I was really just wanting to know if the constant thinking about food is normal. I don't actually feel hungry. I just want to taste some real food, chew something. I think most of the posters have talked about actual hunger and eating, I'm more concerned about having food on the brain. BTW, I am getting my 64 oz of Water in and my 60-80g of protein in daily. I'm just sick of all the liquids and I definitely feel full after a Protein shake, yogurt, or cream Soup. -
Okay, now that we have PB2 all figured out, does anyone know if you can have peanut butter during the purée stage?

How Long Do The Spasms Last?
LynRN replied to LynRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am taking Levsin and Ativan for spasms. I was really just wondering when the spasms stop altogether. -
I'm one week post op and still having lots of spasms when I drink or eat cream soup or yogurt. How long does this last? Am I trying to drink too fast? What is your experience?

I am set to be sleeved on 11/25 so I have been on this site non-stop. Lately, many of the posts I have been reading have been about complications from surgery. I understand that those are a very real possibility, but it's starting to make me really anxious. I need some good news to keep me balanced and put my fear in check. I have an excellent surgeon and am in fairly good health (no comorbidities except joint pain). I plan on following all preop instructions to the letter. With all that, did You have a good recovery? Somebody please tell me that this process CAN (not wii) go smoothly for me, too.

Blurry Vision One Week Out Of Surgery
LynRN replied to ClaireT25's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you taking Levsin (hyoscyamine). I'm one week out and having blurry vision, too. It's listed as one of the side effects for this med. -
Has anyone tried SEI Max Protein. Shelly at "The World According to Eggface" swears by it.

I am currently on full liquids and I am trying activia vanilla yogurt for the first time. It's in a 4oz container. Is this too much. It's regular yogurt not Greek. I am letting it liquefy in my mouth before I swallow (that sounded gross.) what are your thoughts?

Thanks Cathy! I am now 6 days post op and so far, so good. I haven't had any pain from incision sites at all. My biggest battles have been gas pain and constipation which peaked about Day 3 post op but is now much better. I have been able to get my protein and 64oz of Liquid in. I do have spasms if I try to drink too fast, though. I go for my first post op appt on Thurs and should be advanced to purees. Thanks again for your words of encouragement.

Hi all, Everything went well. He found a hernia, so that was repaired. I had some pain initially, but it's been under control. I have a scopolamine patch and zofran to control my nausea. And I feel pretty good overall. My biggest complaint is that I am just exhausted. In and out of sleep all day. Also, I noticed an indentation in my abdomen where I'm sure my hernia was repaired. My nurses said they have never seen that before so I have to wait for the surgeon to see me to find out what that is. Anyway, so far, so good. Thanks for all of your support.

Thanks, Everyone. Today's my day. I'm actually being prepped right now. They're rushing me through because I overslept and was an hour and a half late. Stupid Iphone alarm didn't go off. Anyway, I will keep you all posted. Think of me today.

Ladies, were you able to wear an underwire bra immediately after surgery. I'm pretty self conscious about my large saggy boobs. Don't wanna accidentally slap a nurse in the face with these potato sacks.

Thanks again for the posts, Everyone. I go into the hospital at 5:30 Monday morning. I actually have to work a 12 hour shift tonight so I should be sleeping, but my nerves are really starting to ramp up. I wish I could be on an IV drip of Ativan until they put me to sleep for surgery ( but I think that a nurse walking around attached to an IV pole and high on benzos might be a little off-putting to some patients.) I am supposed to do liquids today and tomorrow. I'm not even dreading it because the anxiety has taken my appetite and I actually feel nauseous and shaky (or maybe it was that 5 hour Energy that I had at 3 am at work). Anyway, I just can't wait to get this done and be on the other side of this so that I can help some neurotic pre-ops like me. I just need to get a few hours of sleep, get through my shift tonight and I will be almost there. Thanks again, all, for your encouraging words.

Hi all. I am set to be sleeved on 11/25 and have been looking at lots of before and afters. I am 5"2 and 255lbs with all of my weight concentrated around my middle. It is very hard for me to picture what my body and skin may look like after I lose half my body weight. Would any of you lovely people be willing to show pics of what you looked like before surgery and how your skin has adapted to the loss: not asking for nudes, but just pics that show the excess skin, if you are willing to show it.

Does any soup that doesn't have chunks count as full liquids? I saw some bisques that looked pretty good. Or could I blend/ purée some potato soup? Does anyone have any savory suggestions for full liquid diets?

All You Experts: How Long Before That Nasty Main Stitch Releases?
LynRN replied to DirtyHarriett's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't been sleeved yet but I have had 2 c-sections and my lower abdomen near the incision was numb for a while. In fact, it was still numb from my first kid when I had the second one two years later. My youngest is now 3 1/2 and I finally have all of my feeling back. -

Nurses also tend to lose their identities in their profession and family roles. Meaning that identifying as a nurse becomes part of who they are, not what they do.
I think there is something to that. Being a nurse is absolutely part of who I am. I can't turn that off when I clock out at the end of my shift. Great insight, Everyone!

No! I think you heard that in your own head.

Lol! I was really trying to not sound like a Pervster McPervy Perv with this post. I just really want to see what loose skin issues people have after the weight loss. I promise!

All of you look great!

Just read a sad story so I need to resurrect this thread. Surgery in six days. More reassurance please!
