  1. So I just had lunch, well I tried anyway. I literally had less than an ounce of chicken and maybe 5 well cooked green beans and I'm stuffed and have the burps. I'm a little miffed because it was really yummy. I'm 5 weeks out today and this is the most restriction I've felt, so far. I've been able to consume 3 oz of food until now. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for the restriction as it is the reason why I had surgery. But an ounce of food is not going to put much of a dent in my protein requirement. Well, I guess that's what protein shakes are for. What gives?
  2. Me too! Lived off the breast meat. Today I had HALF an ounce of it and it came right back up. Finally realized that both times I've barfed and any time I've had the slimes have been because of breast meat. It will take me a while to get used to the thigh and leg. I'd rather have a soy burger than both of those. I guess its a good thing that I like dark meat. But I like to buy the Tyson fully cooked chicken and that's usually breast meat. I guess I'll have to see if they make thigh meat.So I found some Tyson fully cooked sweet Asian Chicken Thighs. They were pretty tender and moist. Needed a little flavor, but they were good, I think, I may stick to these and feed the chicken breasts to my husband and kids.

  4. What's weird is that I had the meat of a whole small skinless chicken thigh yesterday, which was about two ounces. Today it was the frozen fully cooked diced chicken breast that I cooked in a little broth so it was moist. It was my first time eating green Beans, but I sautéed them to death with onions, garlic, and Worcestershire sauce. I don't know.
  5. Sorry, I actually bought it too but I never tried it. It's still in my cupboard.
  6. Glad you got out of your wedding dress or it could've been like a scene out of the movie "Bridesmaids."
  7. I was also able to get my liquids in from the beginning. Count it as a blessing.

    Help! Protein is killing me!

Have you tried unflavored protein. I mix a half scoop with 32oz of crystal light.

  11. But I think they're tasty. The Protein in them is apparently garbage. But at least they have no carbs and as stated above could probably be useful in some way. Not planning on making them a regular part of my diet, though.
  12. I also gained about 5 lbs after surgery. I lost that plus another 8 pounds by the two week mark. Don't worry.
  13. Congrats on your amazing weight loss. I was sleeved on 11/25. I start NP school in January. Best wishes to you.
  14. That is an excellent idea. Especially now that I have a whole bag and can't use it as a protein snack. Thinking along those lines, it would probably be good atop baked cauliflower and cheese.
  15. Thanks for your reply. You're right, I actually had decided to buy them and had some last night. I asked the question, though, because I am a newbie and am looking for opinions and information from more experienced sleevers like you, Laura. I was unaware of the "not a significant source of protein" label until you pointed it out. I know a lot of people come on to this forum looking for someone to endorse bad habits, but that's not what I'm doing. I am trying to meet my protein goals with various foods and Snacks and while trying to make good, but tasty choices. So, the chicharrones, according to the nutritional info at least, seemed like an okay choice. But I do see now after researching that specific protein that it has very little bioavailability for our bodies. Now, I can make an educated decision on whether to eat it or not from now on. On a different note, just put a Pork sirloin roast, a can of diet Dr. Pepper, and some BbQ Sauce in the crockpot. I plan on making pulled pork sandwiches for the family, and just the pork with a little slaw for myself. This will be my first time eating pork (other than deli ham and a little bacon). I hope it is tasty and sits well. I marinated the pork overnight in a store bought Jack Daniels Marinade. We shall see. Can't wait.
  16. I'm eating those things, too. This was just a snack idea and a little something to help with the salt craving. It's not to replace all of the other good things in my diet.

    Weight loss question...

I'm not even wearing my wedding ring right now because I'm afraid to lose it. I am going to wait Until I get to goal to get it resized.
  18. Point taken. I will limit it to a half ounce serving. I actually already weighed them out. I'm most interested in the eight grams of protein. The fewer protein shakes I have to drink, the better.
  19. Swanson also makes some flavor infused broths, including Mexican Tortilla.

    Lost 40 pounds

I'm 1 month out and was starting to get pretty sick of protein shakes too. Have you tried Ready to drink shakes like Premier. I found a target brand that has 20g of protein and is kind of tasty. Also, I have mixed a half scoop of chocolate protein powder with a sugar free pudding cup and a touch of milk and topped it with fat free whipped cream. That was pretty yummy. I have also mixed a half scoop of unflavored protein powder in 32oz of sugar free Hawaiian punch. Protein and water for the price of one. Lastly, I have made protein shakes with other ingredients besides the whey protein powder such as cottage cheese, egg whites and puréed pumpkin and other stuff. It tasted like a pumpkin spice smoothie. Just go online and look for protein shake recipes. If you have an ice cream maker, you can even make protein ice cream (check out theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com). The possibilities are endless. Just make sure you get that protein in and check with your Nut.
  21. Have you tried them?. I am on puréed foods and have started using this in my chicken salad instead of mayo. 25 calories, 1g fat, 2g carbs, 2g protein. I like the taste and I'm trying to squeeze in protein wherever I can.
  22. I am one month post op today. I was 253 DOS and today I am 238. I know I should not compare, but it seems that others have had their greatest losses in their first month. I know that this is more success than I have ever had before and I am grateful for that. But I want this weight off, like yesterday. I am going to start exercising now. First, just water aerobics, walking and light weights and then Couch 2 5K and 30day shred. What are your thoughts? Does this seem slow or am I freaking out for no reason?
  23. I probably should put the scale away because I am becoming obsessed. I had my biggest loss the week after surgery too and the scale has just been inching since then. On a positive note, I measured today and I've lost lots of inches. The weirdest thing is that I lost 2 inches from my neck. What?
