Can't Get Motivated to Exercise
LynRN replied to LumpySpacePrincess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey sleeve sister ( we were sleeved on the same day). I am struggling to get going too. I think I am going to start the 30 day shred today. But I am generally just tired. I work weekend 12 hour nights, I'm a full time student and have two small children. It's hard but we have to get it in if we want to be successful. I'm in a stall right now so I'm looking to burst through/. I am aiming to hit the 40 pound mark on our 3 month surgiversary. -
I think you hit the nail on the head. I am a "good girl." I kind of have that reputation at work. It seems silly, but I don't want people to think I'm a liar if/when it comes out. But I'm just not ready to tell people. Mostly because so many of my other coworkers have had the surgery so I have heard some whispers and judgments. One coworker In particular had surgery about a year ago and had some success initially but has appeared to already put most of her weight back on and she was very vocal about her surgery. Another coworker had a pretty bad leak. So I really am just not in the mood to be under a microscope. I even heard one of my coworkers call it a fad because so many people were having it done. Nurses and doctors can be a really judgmental bunch and surprisingly ignorant when it comes to weight loss surgery.

Lost - 105 pounds... and 1 wedding ring. :-(
LynRN replied to terry1118's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just decided to put my ring away for safe keeping until I am all done losing and can get it resized. I lost a little weight when I got engaged and lost the first diamond (and he still married me). It took ten years of marriage and two babies to get this one and I'm not chancing it. -
How much were you losing at 2 months?
LynRN replied to LumpySpacePrincess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think we were sleeved at about the same time. I'm 10 weeks out as of yesterday. Surgery date was 11/25. I am losing about 3 lbs/ week also. I am down about 33-34 lbs since surgery. I was hoping it would go faster, too. But honestly, If I can maintain this rate, I'll be at goal at about 10 months out. I try to remind myself that this is a marathon, not a sprint and as long as the number is going in the right direction, I'm good. We have to try to remember not to compare ourselves with others as we are all different. Just hang in there. We will get there. -
You know you lost weight when
LynRN replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
When your bra has enough room for another set of boobs. -
I think you should follow your nuts advice. Your body needs fuel. I am almost 10 weeks out and eating about 800 calories. I was told that I should be at about 1000 calories after 3 months. I know all nuts are different, though. Maybe add in some peanut butter or nuts or healthy fats from avocado, Are you eating fruits and veggies? Are you meeting your protein goals?

Do you have a favorite food as a "sleever?"
LynRN replied to Domika03's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always liked seafood, but since I've been on a regular diet, I cannot get enough king or snow crab legs. Such a yummy treat and high in protein, too. -
Hot Suppah! (Or hot supper if not in New England) ;)
LynRN replied to Teachamy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going to make "fajitadillas." It's my own made up concoction of ground beef, cheese, and fajita vegetables and seasonings stuffed in a flour tortilla and pan fried in a buttered skillet like a quesadilla. My husband and kids love them. Mine will be made with half of a light flat out, Cabot sharp extra light cheese, and no butter. I'll add some salsa and fage plain yogurt, cilantro and lime to mine also. I'm also going to make some mango chipotle slaw to go with it. Hubby's gonna be thrilled when he gets home. -
I was at Walmart and stumbled upon Farm Rich Sundried Tomato Basil Chicken Meatballs. 1 serving = 6 meatballs (3 oz), 100 cal, 3.5g fat, 3g carbs, 15 g protein. I baked 1 serving in a ramekin with 1/2 cup marinara. Top with some Parmesan and a little sautéed spinach with garlic and onions. Very tasty and with 22g protein.
-
Sure it's processed and there is 610mg Sodium. But it's also low fat, low calorie, low carb and high Protein. No prepared food is going to be perfect. But if its tasty and helps me get my goals, I'm okay with it.

I am dying for some Pad Thai from my favorite Asian restaurant. They make the most awesome Shrimp Pad Thai. It doesn't help that I watched "Throwdown with Bobby Flay" and the dish was Pad Thai. That was nothing but food porn. I was thinking of trying to find a recipe and subbing in Miracle Noodles for the rice noodles, but Asian Food is so outside of my culinary wheelhouse. Does anyone know of a good bottled Pad Thai Sauce or a sleeve friendly recipe? (Here's looking at you, Gamergirl) All responses are welcome:)

I was sleeved on 11/25 and had a doctor's appt today. Both the PA and the dietician said my target should be about 800. It seems like you're about right.
-
Okay! So I think I'm going to chicken out on the pad Thai. I work tonight and was really wanting something to take to work. I'm going to try to make it myself another day with miracle noodles. So for tonight, I'll probably get a burrito bowl from Chipotle. Just meat, cheese, and veggies. Sigh!
-
I will carefully measure 4oz, heavy on the shrimp and veggies. It may last me 3 days. But that's okay, I never get tired of it and I have already tracked it in MFP.
-
I think I just might. According to Myfitnesspal, 4oz is only 140 calories and it doesn't blow my fat and carb totals for the day. YAY, PAD THAI! Woot Woot!

What are you eating 8 weeks out?
LynRN replied to Alisa11/18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am seven weeks out and I average about 675-750 calories/day. I usually eat 3 meals and two snacks, one of which is usually a protein shake or Quest bar. I average about 65-75 g of protein. Today I actually had 86 grams! The protein shakes have gotten difficult for me, too, but I adore the Quest protein bars. Banana nut muffin is my fave, I'll meet with my surgeon and Nut tomorrow to see if this is where I'm supposed to be. -
You look absolutely great. I always look forward to your monthly updates as I think your "before" is very similar to my "now." Keep 'em coming!

So we got Chinese food for dinner and I had shrimp egg foo young with 2 tablespoons of gravy. I weighed it and it came out to 166 calories in MFP. It had lots of grease (I blotted with paper towels like crazy) so this makes me nervous that MFP could be wrong. I ate it and tolerated it fine and it seemed like a good choice (according to MFP) as it is low calorie, high protein and low carb. I don't know, though. When I make an omelet there's never that much grease, What do you guys think? I already feel like a slow loser and I don't want to sabotage myself.
-
Thanks. So far so good tolerating it. According, to MFP, it had 12g of fat which didn't blow my fat budget for the day. I'm just hoping that with all the blotting, it truly was in that ballpark. I just don't get it. Food can be cooked in oil, but it doesn't have to be greasy. I don't fry much anymore, obviously, but when I did, I made sure that my food wasn't sitting in a puddle of oil. It's unappetizing, to say the least. I'm a little annoyed , in case you couldn't tell, because I thought I was making a good choice. Now, I'm not so sure.

I'm glad you guys are talking about this. I am over 6 weeks out (11/25) and am down 18-20 pounds, depending on the temperament of my scale that day, and it's a little frustrating. I haven't been exercising much, yet as I have been really tired. But I have started walking and plan to ramp it up soon. I am eating about 650-750 calories/day. I'm getting in my fluid and 60-70g of protein on most days and 50-60 carbs. But it seems like the scale is stuck more than its moving. How many calories are you guys getting in daily? Any thoughts, suggestions are welcome. I can't help but start to worry that this might not work for me, either.

Apple Shaped Ladies: Holla Back!
LynRN replied to LynRN's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm about 6 weeks post op now. I'm seeing minor improvements already. But I'm trying to keep my expectations in check. Anymore progress pics from you apple shaped vets would be great. -
For the first time in our 12 year relationship (10 years of marriage), I weigh less than my husband! I still have a lot to lose and he could stand to lose a few, too, but I have always been at least 20 pounds heavier. He actually seemed genuinely excited for me, too. I think he's looking forward to being able to pick me up and carry me around. Still got a long way to go before I get there, but a girl can dream. I told him to start hitting the weights now, though.

Have you become more of a Foodie since surgery?
LynRN posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I kind of feel like I have. I look for recipes and watch food Network (food porn) way more than before and I have also made things that I have never made before like crab cakes and pumpkin custard. I have been finding ways to tweak recipes to my dietary needs (lower carb, high protein) and am just as excited about eating as ever. Granted, I am only four weeks post op and still on soft foods, but after the liquid and puréed stages, the soft diet is amazing. I had 7 small shrimp with a teaspoon of cocktail sauce and a couple of spoons of cheesy spinach. Pretty good. I am pretty excited about what the future holds and it's forcing me to go outside of my usual cooking/eating repertoire. Although, these may all be musings of a food addict! Uh Oh! Oh well. Thoughts?
