Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?
crowsnestmama replied to *Dean*'s topic in Fitness & Exercise
I've had a couple of people say they want to run with me too, but back out. I decided that this journey, well it's mine and I can only control me. So, I run. I don't care if they go or don't, and I'm succeeding. You can do this guys, I know it! Grab some fast beat, fun music (even a little Elvis works) and your shoes. The only only one who will benefit/lose is you...let's do this! -
Surgery in the morning ????
crowsnestmama replied to KDCaballero's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep!!! Totally normal! I actually almost had a panic attack right before they started to wheel me back, but the anesthesiologist saw it coming, when no one else did, and very covertly gave me meds to knock me out before I ever left pre-op. I never had the chance to thank him, but he saved me from my self. I won't lie, there were some moments when I truly wondered what I had done, and began to regret, but ultimately those all faded and I will never regret this decision again. Good luck girl! Work the program and it will work for you!! -

Thanks Gamergirl!! Man what a head game a lot of it was! But good music and beautiful scenery made it go by faster and was a great distraction. My only issue was that my c25k app never told me when to start/stop. I only intended to run for 20 minutes for the week 6 interval, but I never heard the cues. I'm not really complaining because I did even better than the 20 minutes, but it was a bit frustrating. -

Don't know if this will upload or not, but I am so FREAKING excited!!! I just did a 5k, 8 weeks out!!!! Yes it includes my 5 minute warm-up, yes I walked 5:44 part way through...but dang it I DID IT!!! Lol!!!! (Run 1= 21:49, mid-walk=5:45, run 2=7:29) I believe this averages to 4.65 mph I ran farther than I ever have on this specific outdoor loop, dodging snow, ice, and standing water (major snow storm this last week in Wyoming, lol)... -

Just putting it out there, so 'dirty' little secrets may see the light of day!
crowsnestmama replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Bummer of a day. I ate a twix (full size, both pieces) a bag of goldfish crackers (2 serving size)...then drank as much water as possible as quickly as possible to wash it all through as quickly as possible. Felt really foolish, and the thing is, that twix didn't even taste good and I realized the whole reason I binged was because I hadn't had anything to drink....all day. Lesson learned, tomorrow is a new day, and when I wake up in the morning I will not have regained the 40lbs I've lost since May, I won't even have gained back the 22 since surgery. It is NOT the end of the world, it might happen again, but not tomorrow. -

I have read all these posts and man am I messed up, lol! I got a weird and slightly evil thrill from seeing all the slip ups, sorry about that :/ I'm 6 weeks out and I have eaten Doritos, salt and vinegar kettle chips, "cheat"oes, and heaven help me I ate brownie (about 3x3 over a couple of sneaking bites) Sick right? Only, I realized, not so much. I still haven't cracked 1000 calories, even on my worst days. I certainly need to re-evaluate my thinking process. I think that I wanted to do everything just right, and when I slipped it was like "of course I slipped" What I realize now is, yep I slipped and it's not the end of the world, I will not fail at this just because I ate a brownie. The thing is I stopped there, where I would have not before. So thank you all, for sharing your skeletons....we can do this, living this new life. -
August Sleevers?

You can see it but others can't. Even when they go to your timeline they can't see it. I've checked through my hubby and my kids' accounts, no sightings at all. -
August Sleevers?
crowsnestmama replied to Brettharris35's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine August 12 and I totally understand! My mind has been trained to think about foods a certain way for years (and about myself) and now that has been forced to change in a VERY short amount of time. Sometimes I think I get emotional whiplash. -

It's the little things......
crowsnestmama replied to FitnFabfor2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved 8/12 Heaviest weight 248? First weight at Drs office 236 Weight day of surgery 219.8 Current weight 198.2 I had a couple of little things today. 1) my pants fell off. Not in front of anyone but I absolutely had to wear a belt today and will never have to wear these pants again. 2) my shoulders were tight so I reached behind me with both arms, it was when I was several seconds into a stretch that I realized that my hands were clasped firmly and easily together behind me. 3) this was yesterday, but with my hubby down 82lbs and my 38 since May, well two people for in our shower waay easier, lol ;o) There are so many things to look forward to, some times it feels forever before you notice anything new, then suddenly all sorts of new things crop up. So, don't lose heart, life is going to be so very much better. -
what's the little things you've noticed with your weight loss so far!
crowsnestmama replied to sleeveb430's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I reached one-derland today!!! That was a huge "little" thing. I was told by a security officer that works at the same high school that "sagging" pants aren't allowed, lol! (I'll take the compliment as it was intended) I dropped 3 pant sizes over the weekend and passed a bag of pants on to someone else. Because of my and my husbands progress we have a friend who is beginning the process too. I was able to wear a skirt with a shaper. I could never wear a shaper before and always had to wear a pair of shorts under a long flowy skirt. Today, it was an A line above the knee. I had a friend say that they forgot I had legs, lol! I was able to quickly go up 3 flights of stairs without using the handrail to pull myself along, only breathing moderately hard at the top. I am so glad I did this!! Oh, and I finally feel like it's worth it to wear makeup again! That is huge for me. 1. I never felt like I wanted to draw attention to myself at all 2. My face is finally clear of acne. I've had it since I was 11, I'm almost 38 now. That is a huge little thing for me as well. -

HE:248 First Dr.appt:236 Surgery date: 219.8 CW:199.6 Sleeved 8/12 Eating 3 meals a day, maybe a small snack (edamame) and sometimes struggling with Water, but mostly I can get in 2 liters. I have learned that a variety of stuffed chicken is my friend, lol. I had a three week period when I gained and lost the same 3lbs. I think it was related to 1. The fact that I have the female cycling hormones 2. I think I was getting too much Protein. This worries me a little because I am almost to that point of my cycle again. I was getting almost 100gm of protein with meals and shakes. Now, no more shakes and I see good movement on the scale. -
I'm not proud of this....but....

Oh man! I had zofran to take home (sublingual), have they given you anything? Have you tried any add-ins to your water (like crystal lite liquid or mio)? They helped me for a couple of weeks, plain water made me nauseas. At 9 days I was on full liquid and used a chocolate Protein shake from SAMs club. -

My hubby had sushi at 3 1/2-4 months with no issues. I had a bite of rice yesterday 6 weeks out, no issue. You just have to chew chew chew! -

Look to your cycle...sometimes there lies an issue. I gained and lost within the same 3lbs for 3 weeks, now I am losing again. Don't lose heart, just keep working the program and it will work for you! -

Starbucks passion tea no sweetener hit the spot for me, decafinated and no sugar. Tastes a little herby, but oh so good! -
August Sleevers?
crowsnestmama replied to Brettharris35's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 8/12. Down 16 lbs since surgery. I lost 17 lbs in the months leading up to surgery. Pre-surgery 219.8 current 203.4. I'm basically eating regular foods. Except no beef or pork, no fruit, no raw veggies per doctor. So, my family and I have come up with TONS of stuffed/rolled chicken recipes. Favorites so far: bruschetta stuffed chicken, asparagus and Swiss stuffed chicken, and spaghetti squash stuffed with turkey burger, quinoa, fire roasted tomatoes and various cheeses. Man, our grocery bill has been radically reduced! My hubby was sleeved 12/31. It makes me laugh that a chicken breast lasts me 2-3 meals. Ladies: I struggled this month, right before my cycle with a chocolate craving. This is about better choices, so went and got an 86% cacao chocolate bar that has 5grams of sugar in 1/2 a bar. All I needed was a corner (that bar will last MONTHS!) and the craving was gone!! I also (as usual) could not get enough food, felt like I was starving! Nut said it was ok to add some calorie content those few days, but to listen to my body and cut it back again because I didn't really need it anymore. This helped a lot. I added a mini meal in between Breakfast and lunch and another after dinner, for 2days, now I'm good again and no hunger. I haven't lost a lot, relative to many. But for me, it's more than I would have otherwise. I have determined that I will no longer put CRAP into my body. If it doesn't serve a nutritional need it doesn't go in! I struggle drinking Water, but went back to the Protein Fruit drinks I used the first week, mixed in 1liter of water, and I can get 2 liters in a day plus sometimes. I also miss chewing crunchy things most. Has anyone found any good crunchy stuff? Not as a snack but to augment a meal? Thanks for reading my rambling, sorry! -
My nut. said around 100 is ok for me (per my weight) so I'd say ask to be sure.

Found out Starbucks has a caffeine free sugar free tea option, passion tea no sugar. It is tart and herby, but man oh man is it good!

Protein shake recommendations
crowsnestmama replied to Brighteyes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
SAMs carries MuscleTech (gluten and lactose free) it is 100% whey isolate. One scoop has: 30grams Protein Less than 1 gram sugar 160 calories 100mg digestive enzymes I add Fiber to help things along Can be made with Water (I've not tried, but hubby only makes it this way) or milk (which is how I drink it, I'm sure you could use lactaid if lactose is a problem). We have it in Rich chocolate and it is awesome. Hope this helps!
