    Preparing for the sleeve

I'm 53 and also 5'4" I started at 238 but was 227 at time of surgery which was two weeks ago today. I'm at 210 today. I feel like I dieted myself fat so once I reached that high point I just knew I couldnt do another diet. I'm very glad I chose this route.
  4. Does anyone know if cream soups are considered solid as in do I have to wait 30 minutes before and after to drink anything?

    Drinking fluids post op

The only thing I truly unjoy drinking is the 4-C lemonade packets and homemade decaf tea, iced or hot, with equal. I too dislike all the MIO and other drops.. Too sweet for me.

Hi- new here... Planning on a sleeve

I was surprised by the anesthesiologist recommending an epidural to me. This occurred as soon as I entered the surgical ward. I'd never had one and the thought of it caused me a small amount of anxiety but I chose to go with his recommendation because he indicated I would have significantly less pain after surgery. I'm thankful I did because pain-wise I was really in pretty good shape. The epidural itself was not painful just unexpected. I guess I like to know ahead of time what to expect. It was all good though.

Hi- new here... Planning on a sleeve

In my recent experience, this surgery rated about a 2 on a scale of 1-10 with my hysterectomy being a 10. The recovery part isn't even on the same chart as the hysterectomy.
  9. I'm two weeks out and scheduled to cruise in November. At two weeks out I think I've got a good handle on what to expect at say 5 or 6 weeks out. Things become easier everyday. I'd go ahead and schedule the surgery and the cruise. Oh, one more thing, I felt and feel so good, so improved over what I felt before surgery. Can't wait to be in the Bahamas!
  10. From what I understand, this surgery was done as a first step in the duodenal switch (DS) WLS which has been done for some time now. I have a friend who is 11 years out from the DS. She is doing very well. What health problems she has had have in no way been related to her stomach.
  11. My doctor told me to sip one ounce every ten minutes. Try using a medicine cup and have her continue to refill and sip it. Also, if she is watching tv she could try sipping every commercial break. It really just takes a few days to get the hang of it.
  12. Definitely making this soup! Sounds delish!

    New to the Forum

My daughter came home last week to help me with surgery etc... She brought me three beautiful bottles of Sonoma County wines. I too wonder when I will get to taste my new wines but am figuring it will be awhile.
  14. I was sleeved on 8/12 and struggled first few days to get my liquids in but don't worry it gets easier. I'm now having no problem getting all I need in. You will too. The swelling and gas gets better and those fluids go right in.
  15. I hope I look half as good as you. I've been worried that I will look older. You definitely look significantly younger!

    Full liquids

I had a very hard time getting any liquids in for the first few days too. Something that works for me is diluted white grape juice and sf Popsicles. I was served diluted juice while in the hospital which turned out to be the easiest thing to get down.

    Tomorrow is the big Day

Best wishes for a smooth surgery and fast recovery!
  18. Hi everyone, I'm Donna. Im looking forward to making some sleeve buddies! Time is moving along fast since my sleeve surgery on Monday. I'm feeling so much better than I ever expected to feel this soon after surgery. I did struggle with some nausea and ended up in hospital longer than I anticipated. I weighed this morning and learned I've lost 11 pounds already. Amazing!
