Liquid extra strength Advil. It's keeping the pain at bay, but I feel so weak and useless! And he pulled more teeth than I signed up for. The roots were so long in the healthy top wisdom teeth that it opened up a gap between my mouth and sinuses. That's probably the worse part. Plus I was having trouble keeping hydrated enough in the first place with me surgery, now its even harder *facepalm* Mouse be careful with the Motrin. They didn't want us taking it preop and I don't think postop. I would switch to the liquid Tylenol as soon as you can. Hope you're feeling better.

    October Sleevers - Who else

You have to tell us what reactions you get. Going back to work smaller was a mixed bag for me- some people looked at me you could see them trying to figure out what was different. Most of the people who knew were okay, but some were intrusive and I could see them looking me up and down every time I would come around which for me was uncomfortable. Someone from another unit in the hospital heard I had gotten a tummy tuck (don't know how that rumor got started), came to my unit to find me, and actually touched my stomach and said how good it looked!! WTH?!? I know you're a guy so you probably won't have as many issues as the women do.

First off, I'm so glad your hubby is completely on board- he's the person that's in the house with you and will be the person you really need on your side. As far as the other people in your life, they can have a seat. Your adult choices-especially ones you're making to benefit your health- are none of their business, especially your boss! How does she know what's right for you? Has she been a friend your whole life and is she there through all your weight struggles? On top of that- this sleeve is NOT easy. It's easier to do weight watchers and have a day where you "cheat" then get back on the wagon. But what would happen-your weight would continue to fluctuate up and down and you would be in the same position or worse this time next year. Right now if I didn't have my sleeve and I was doing some other program, I GUARANTEE I would've cheated and had something I wasn't supposed to. Having the sleeve and knowing something may possibly make me sick is deterrent enough for me- that was part of my personal reasons for getting the sleeve in addition to weight loss and having something in place to help me keep off/ control weight gain long term. The people who are saying these things to you should do some research on the sleeve before they chime in on what you should/shouldn't be doing. I would be willing to bet if you countered their opinion by asking them what they know about the surgery they couldn't even tell you what it is. And for sure the weight doesn't just fall off- you still have to work out to see good progress. Your supposed to exercise 60-90 minutes daily with this in addition to trying to drink all your water, all your protein, and take all the vitamins. Some people get the surgery and lose a small amount of weight and then nothing else (now that we're all together, I came upon a sleeve to bypass revision thread). Easy- I definitely don't think so.

First congrats on your promotion! I'm assuming your training will be 8 hour days, but I don't know if it's typical training where you're sitting all day. You do get tired some days in the beginning but everyone is different. Also know that when you drink/eat, you're what I call "noisy"- airy and burpy. I still pat myself on my chest when I drink/eat sometimes and apologize to people around me for my "noise". People don't seem to hear it as much as I think they do though. I think it's really hard to focus when you have to sit through those all day training sessions under normal circumstances. You could always buy one of those recorders we used in college so you can review it later on your own time. During that time you will be on full liquids.

Derby I'm sorry I misunderstood your question the first time. I had shakes and clears the whole day preop but the only reason I didn't eat a salad was because I was traveling and didn't bring my dressing. then at 11pm I downed a large bottle of water. Your stomach will definitely be empty by the time you get to surgery the next day.

Thanks mouse, but I mean before hand. We thought there was 2 days before hand it was clear liquids, but then we are told no. So I am just wondering.Derby it also depends on your BMI. I had a longer preop diet that then went into the 15 day shakes and leafy greens. When you contact the nutritionist, she will tell you what you need to do for your BMI.

It's true!! If you're preop, eat as many crunchy leafy greens as possible. You will miss chewing for a while

There are some days where I probably got little to no protein I was so not into it, but it is what it is. Isn't it funny how something so simple tastes so good after you've been through this?

Hey Karliy. Glad you're doing better. Those protein shakes do start to get nauseating, I'm not even going to sugarcoat it. I had to switch things up and eat jello and other things and sacrifice protein shakes on some days toward the end of the full liquids. I was SUPER over the shakes and protein powder in general. I mixed some protein powder in my mashed potatoes the other night and I couldn't take it- up chuck!! Right now my nose is in overdrive as well like a pregnant woman. So many things stink and make me nauseated! I'm hoping it runs it's course or at least dies down a little. Mouse I hope you're still doing good too. Hi Mbindra! Mazzers, welcome back!! I'm not sure what shakeology is, but it seems like everyone kind of does their own thing preop, then they kind of narrow things down post. I was drinking Atkins a lot preop but because of sugar don't use them much. Plus my taste buds have changed. Things don't taste the same!

Hey you!!!! Yay you're here now

    October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!

Yeah, there were a couple of days where I gained a pound or two, but then I figured out that I needed to keep up with the Miralax, and then I'd drop what I'd gained the next day. Constipation's no joke! I'm anticipating the dreaded "third week stall", but I'm ramping up my protein and fluid and hopefully, I won't stall at all. I'm buying Miralax on my way home tonight!!! I need it anyway. I only go once a week since this surgery and that's with MOM when I used to go daily preop. It is NO JOKE!!

No issues E-girl. Just lots of pillows to lean against are good. Karliy, what a hot mess and a half. I'm so sorry you're having such a rough start!! Quarantined!! I wonder if it's from the intubation? Have you ever had tonsillitis before? I hope you feel better soon
  21. Peanutz, you've been through a lot and I'm sure this decision is a hard one to make. You really have to look at all of the doctors and their credentials and do the homework. Money should be a factor but definitely not the main factor. Speak with some of the doctors if possible prior to making any deposits for some peace of mind. I went to Dr Ariel Ortiz at the Obesity control center. It is not a hospital but a surgical center, which is where I would've had my surgery had I chosen to have it in the US. I have no health issues besides obesity, so it was never a huge issue not having my surgery in a hospital. On top of that, Im a nurse and there are so many germs in hospitals I'm glad I wasn't in that setting. The OR at the OCC was cleaner and less cluttered than any OR I've ever been in since they aren't doing so many different things in one place. Like your post says, there are many variables that go into your decision and everyone is in a different situation. The other major thing I will mention is postop. It's not like the other people I've seen on this site who go to regular appointments and support groups which you don't have when you go to Mexico. I personally was happy for this because I don't need a bunch that support and would pull my hair out if I had to go to a support group. Some people need that though. That should factor into your decision as well. You may want to ask how each doctor handles patients postop or look around this site for people's postop experiences with the different docs
  22. I am glad this thread was bumped. I'm almost 6 weeks out from surgery and would TOTALLY DO IT AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT! Tomorrow I will be 40 days out. My recovery has been completely uneventful- and I had surgery in Mexico! Who knew it would be such a great experience. My parents even had a good time! I had some nausea the night of surgery in the surgical center which was much better the next day. Getting liquids in was a bit of a struggle, but that's all. No major problems- or minor to speak of. So thankful and so blessed to have such a wonderful experience with surgery and recovery. I went back to work last week and had some episodes if nausea vomiting, but nothing to write home about. I need to get readjusted to normal life. Picked a great surgeon as well which I believe is also key.
