It IS kinda like torture sometimes but I try looking at the big picture...I can't eat what I want to eat because I chose to have this surgery and change my old eating habits so I would lose weight. I still want the things that my husband eats and every time I'm tempted I remind myself that I didn't go through this surgery just to go back to the way I was. (sometimes that helps!) As for the "I'd rather not eat blues", If I don't get enough calories I don't lose any weight so I try to choose healthy foods (most of the time) with good calorie & Protein counts in them. Hope this helps!

Well I don't know who they are targeting because the only people that live in my house is me, my husband, and Bedford, our puppy and he isn't allowed on the internet!!! I sure ain't gonna google domino's pizza just to sit here and stare at the screen and drool on my keyboard. -
I guess I made the mistake of asking a stupid question. Whatever...LMFAO

So has anyone found where the new stuff is? All I can see is 'stuff with no replies' & 'trending' and none of that seems new...

Whos in September? We need some September buddies!
SDH replied to janie2024's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought I wasn't losing fast enough for a while till my husband went and got 2-20 pound weights from the weight bench and sat them in my lap! 40 pounds is heavy!!! That was 5 pounds ago! Chicken, seafood, and turkey are on my menu most days, and I usually drink a protein shake everyday just to make sure I get enough in. I guess the next thing I need to work on is eating more veggies... -

I'm gonna try those gummy vitamins...if these hadn't cost so much I would trash them! -

Yesterday was my 2 month surgery-versary and I am down 45 pounds!!! I need to exercise more but my knees are shot...I went to my ortho doc this past Thursday and he suggests a total knee replacement on my right one...that sounds lovely!!! He has a date open in Dec. but I think it's a little soon for another major surgery, the shots he put in them have kicked in and they are feeling pretty good now so hopefully I can make it a few more months. Hope everyone is feeling and healing good. Does anyone know of a good liquid multi-vitamin that they would recommend, my chewable one from Opurity tastes like crap! I know vitamins aren't supposed to taste like candy but I think I would rather take a liquid and get it over with than to have to chew & chew & chew this horse pill I have!!! -

Not me...can't get pizza delivery at our house!!! We live about 30 miles from the closest fast food joint! -
Thanks for posting that laura-ven...I have learned more from reading on this website than I learned going through all of my pre-op appointments!!!

My docs office sold it but I went straight to their website to buy mine. http://www.unjury.com/store/protein/

I blame EVERY weird noise on my little puppy (Great Dane) whether he is laying across my lap or not!!!

I had my surgery on Sept. 11 and I'm not a pro at this but I can help with a few of your concerns! I cook less now than before surgery! As for not liking yogurt or cottage cheese, I didn't have a problem with yogurt but I hated cottage cheese before my surgery. However, after surgery I tried it and was soooo glad to have something to 'almost' chew that I started to really enjoy it! Canned chicken & tuna are great when you advance to that stage. Seafood has lots of protein, I like pre-cooked shrimp or crab with mashed potatoes...all microwavable! I still drink protein shakes too, there are lots of brands but l like Unjury (chocolate & chicken flavored). Eating really is easier that ya think! The pain after surgery I would say varies from person to person, I drank pain medicine for about a week after my surgery, a little less everyday but I still wanted/needed it, I hate pain!! My husband and this website are my support system, I didn't tell my sister or any other family members because I made my mind up to have this surgery and did not feel like discussing it with anyone. When he eats in front of me, it really doesn't both me much...I really want to loose this weight so I have my meals & he has his!!! Hope some of this helps! Good luck!

I had acid reflux before my surgery and none of my doctors ever said that I shouldn't have it. I still take Nexium but I haven't gotten any worse since my surgery.
-
I'm kinda fond of mine too! It works better than any diet I've ever tried!!!
-
Congratulations! Hope all goes well!

Don't know if this will help but I use Unjury protein mix, the chicken flavored is great in chicken broth or hot water and the chocolate mixed in skim milk with 2 tbls of PB2 in it tastes like peanut butter cups...I've never been a milk drinker either but it's not bad!

Sleeved 10/21.. large incision
SDH replied to Seela's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a little over 7 weeks out and my big incision is still a little sore, I think it is from the muscle inside still healing. It doesn't hurt constantly but if I do something stupid it lets me know it's still there! -
Good ole mashed potatoes...we went to Red Lobster after my last check-up, my husband had a lobster fest meal that was absolutely beautiful but I sat there and enjoyed tha heck out of my mashed taters, didn't finish them but what I did eat was great!
-
I guess I should have had pre-op fears but they didn't show up till I was post-op...for the first week or so when my husband would cook his dinner I would be silently screaming in my head "what have you done to yourself" and "you're never gonna be able to eat again". That's behind me now though cause what I have done to myself is get the help that I needed (this surgery) to loose weight and I now know that I will be able to eat again, just not the amounts or the bad choices that I used to make. One day at a time I am gonna loose this weight and take my life back!

I don't know if this will help but sugar-free popsicles, frozen yogurt, and the strained 'cream of whatever' soups were real good when I was at that stage. Good luck!
