Hi everyone, another newcomer!
DebbieTh replied to mooster's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hej Kath! Where are you coming from? I was banded last week by Dr. Chris. You will do fine. He and the hospital are wonderful. I had a friend who had also been banded by Dr. Chris with me as support. She said every day you will feel better. She is right! I am feeling good. -
I am Mrs. JJ's friend. While my experience was different it was bearable. I had some problems with the anesthetic. I had some lung problems previously that they have not yet diagnosed. They knew I had restricted lung capacity. It was the first time I had general anesthetic and as Dr. Chris put it "Waking you up was not pretty." I think this whole thing made me groggy longer than some other people. I had some trapped gas and it took a while for it to go away (a few days). sleep does help..so does time. Mrs. JJ kept telling me that in a week it would seem like a dream. I expected it would seem more like a nightmare. She was right. It is 6 days post-op for me and I am feeling good. As for packing, JJ is right. Here is my list: 4 pair panties, one nightwear, 2 tops, one pair trousers, deodorant, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste. Pack light! JJ also arranged for a wheelchair in Brussels and Copenhagen for me. If you have doubts about the airports do it. Did I say yet the Dr. Chris, his team and the hospital were fantastic yet?

I was just banded a week ago in Brussels. Remember every doctor has different advice about pre-op diets....go with the doctor that will operate on you. Low fat means just that. Do not be concerned about calories. Also do not be afraid to email him. He will answer. The night before my surgery he told me to go out and have a nice dinner with a glass of wine! FWIW I had the same worries you did before the surgery. It is normal. You crossed the hardest step IMO and that was making the contact with Dr. Chris and setting the date.

Live in Sweden and going To Brussels tomorrow
DebbieTh posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I will be banded on Tuesday. I am feeling a strange sense of calm, but I am sure I will get nervous again. All sorts of silly questions to ask and I am sure the doctor has the answers to most, for example: How long until I can take the dog for a walk? (This involves picking up poop). I am hoping my husband believes when I tell him I cannot walk the dog for 6 months. I want to publicly thank MrsJJ on this forum who will be coming with me to Brussels. She is a real friend. I am trying to find a doctor in southern Sweden (Skåne) that I can see for aftercare so I do not have to make the trip to London or Brussels. Does anybody know someone?
