11/2/13 - I've been thinking about things this week, I list 5/16/13 as my first Dr. visit, well that's the general info seminar where I met my surgeon. Part of the AMAZING thoughts this week are forward from there, thoughts about what happened in the 8 weeks after I met my surgeon on 6/29 for the first time in his office. In that short 8 week period I went from a first consult to having surgery, so much in 8 weeks to happen with all of the education classes and pre op clearances and insurance that was dealt with, all of this with the support of my wife. Lucky to have a great team to help me through all of this.
10/27/13 - 58 days post surgery, 119 days after first Doctor visit, day after my birthday. Almost 2 months post surgery now, I've been out to eat twice with my wife now, the first time was about 2 weeks ago, we went over to Orlando and had lunch while we were out. Need to break this into smart things I did and not so smart things.
Not so smart - Ordered a beverage, iced tea, why did I do this ? habit ? as you expect I had 1 sip and that was about it of that, lesson going forward, ask for water only, why buy a drink you are not going to have.
Smart ? - I had 1 slice of her California Pizza Kitchen BBQ chicken pizza and it filled me, that was enough.
Our 2nd trip out, I thought of ordering a drink, and then remembered the not so smart item from above and asked for water, see I can be trained. It was my birthday, I ordered an appetizer and has some of it. I felt like I did much better on this trip.
So what are the stats at this point ? Almost 62 lbs down in the past 4 months, 15% less of me. I think I've take all of may daily work shirts out of the closet and retired them, several empty hangars now. A year ago my thought was I needed to go through the closet to thin it of all of the clothes I'd never wear again because I don't fit. Well it's a year later and kind of glad I never made it there, I have a wardrobe waiting to be worn. :-)
Lastly it's Football season and Sunday, so a habit seems to be happening where I go out and check lottery numbers, get a newspaper, and get 4 pieces of chicken wings, guess what I'm having for lunch. Portion control is not an issue any more.
9/1/13 Why ? that seems to be a pretty important question in my mind. So ..... I've struggled with weight for a long time now, I've been able to go on a diet and loose some weight and then yo-yo back up again. So once again why, I've been able to loose the 1st 1/2 that I've wanted to but never the 2nd 1/2 so here is to loosing it all both the 1st and 2nd 1/2's. I could have lost the 1st 1/2 and then had surgery but why put off the inevitable ? I went to a seminar initially just to explore it and did not seriously think I would consider surgery. Well a short 3.5 months later here I am post surgery.
Why ? I want to do things that I did not do because I was too big. I want a better 2nd half of life.
