I've been using it for a few years since I have a condition that makes my hair thin. My stylist assures me it's great, but who knows for sure? I haven't lost anymore. I've heard that a trauma will make your hair fall out and you'll get it back in 3-6 months. I had a major move in March, my hair got really thin on top, but now I can see hairs growing back. So my trauma was a move. I think it's the trauma of the surgery itself that causes it, but I'm not a doctor. I think if you're eating healthy, taking vitamins, and maybe a biotin pill for goodluck, you should be able to keep your hair or help it grow back. Just my opinion.

Babygotback - way to go on your goal!! How long did it take you?

Hi everyone. Just thought I'd post this for everyone still to be banded or just being banded. It will be two weeks tomorrow since surgery and I feel really good. The shoulder gas pain is gone, and it comes back periodically when I drive long hours or late at night sometimes, but it's not that bad anymore, and my tummy doesn't hurt at all. I can fully function now. Went for a half hour walk today with the dog and didn't feel lightheaded. I feel back to normal!

I am not in the medical field, so this may not be accurate, but I think PCOS, as a syndrome, can't be tested per se. It's just if you have a bunch of the symptoms, the doc will say 'you have PCOS,' and all they can do is treat the symptoms. I believe the only way it can go away or be treated or be lessened is to lose weight. Now, I may be wrong, and I would like to hear other opinions.

Hi, Craig. It's nice to have a man in the house!

I've heard you can get hairloss 3-6 months after a major trauma such as surgery, a big move, divorce, that kind of thing. I know I lost a lot of hair about that time after our big move, and then it grew back. That's the reason I think people lose their hair with this surgery, maybe along with not getting enough protein. You can get biotin at Whole Foods for sure, try health food stores. Linda

November Nymphs all the way!! Love the nymph, Stephanie!
-
Hi Bandster. I'm not doing so good either. I AM hungry, very, very, very hungry, and I'm only allowed 2 tablespoons/meal with a protein shake in between. I cannot wait to get a fill and I hope that will help. I don't even have head hunger - it's real!! Sigh. I was reading another thread where people who have been banded for quite a while still struggle with head hunger. I wonder if anyone has been 'cured' of this. Linda

Okay, Stephanie, you've got to post here and show everyone your nymph. I LOVE IT!!
-
Wow, good luck to both of you!! That will be so exciting to have each other to go through the process and nice to be able to lean on each other.

Hi everyone. I too have PCOS. Great thread! My symptoms are, drum roll, inability to lose weight and easy to gain!!, difficulty getting pregnant, male pattern baldness, major zits! ugh! I had lost weight at one point with Atkins, got down to about 170, and was able to get pregnant. Since then I've gained about 50, we tried, and couldn't get pregnant. I'm hoping the band can help me get the weight off because I have tried everything else and failed, failed, failed. Chickie, as someone who has lost a lot of weight, have you seen your symptoms get better? Anyone else? Linda

You look amazing and it's very inspiring seeing you and hearing your story. Thank you!

Well, I LOVE the November nymphs (teehee), but I think most people should agree, and it seems pretty divided. How about the Energized Elevens, and we can have the energizer bunny as our mascot - he keeps going and going and going ... Linda

Okay, who else is in love with their ticker? I love this thing. It's so motivating!!
-
Ah, that's funny! I guess it could mean that too - nymphomaniac, :omg: but if you look up nymph on Wikipedia it will show you what it means - not at all offensive.
-
Okay, so basically everyone is eating more than me here? I've got to get ahold of my nutritionist. This is ridiculous.
-
I get that when I'm on the stationary bike, the one that has an actual seat on it with a back - is it a recumbent bike? You probably know what I'm talking about.

I had my surgery on Nov 2 and am STARVING as well!! Sorry I have no solution, but you have my sympathy! Linda

Do you eat popcorn?

Lucy, what's this about a guy dying from microwave popcorn? Can you give me the details, please? Linda -
Do you eat popcorn?
lindata replied to bandster_1007's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Nana - I totally agree with you. That is my main reason for going to a movie - the popcorn!! I just had surgery, and my parents are here to look after my son. I thought me and my husband could go out to a movie - but it would be like torture, me sitting there smelling all that popcorn and not being able to have it!! So we didn't go. Linda -
I'm just 1.5 weeks post-op and hungry, starving to death! But I'm only allowed 2 tablespoons/meal, so all I do is open a can of soup or have some cottage cheese or oatmeal. Like as if I'm going to make a meal for two tablespoons worth! Not likely. Linda

Hope you dont mind me tagging along for the ride...

Hi, Bunny. Just from your short description, it sounds like you went through a terrible thing! Are you with a different doctor now? Linda
