Ditto this for me too. I self-sabotage anytime I lose weight and I have absolutely no idea. I love the attention, I like talking about my weightloss, I don't mind the work to get me there. The junk food calls to me and I just keep eating it. I've gone through the whole "why" thing and I just have absolutely no idea why I do this. Really.

There are a lot of people in my peer group in town starting running, doing half marathons, etc. I really would like to be this type of person. It would be an amazing achievement. But try as I might I just can't get my head around the point of it all. Maybe it's my laziness factor. Maybe it's because I'm built for durability rather than speed. Ask me to pull weeds and dig out a garden all day I'll jump at it - but ask me to run around the block and you can forget it. I'm trying to get my butt in gear and start going to the gym again. My body obviously needs it. But once again I have hit the wall in terms of wanting it enough. I'll regret it come bathing suit weather. What is the secret these people have, to go to the gym day after day, or to hit the pavement when it's raining and cold? I'd rather curl up under the covers with a good book. Anyone have any insight? November nymphs especially? I'm so sick of this on again off again relationship I have with food and exercise. I'm an all or nothing sort of person, but unfortunately the going all out with eating right and exercising is happening fewer and farther in between.

I just can't believe this. Kendra had such spirit, you could just tell she was someone special. I'm so unbelievably sorry, shocked and saddened.

WHAT????? Oh My God, I had no idea. I'm looking through all the old posts now. Damn damn damn cancer.

So I'm still fat - how do I get over the embarassment of my super jiggly (remember I've also had a baby) stomach going up and down when I do this in public? I can visualize myself in slow-mo and it's not pretty. Am I making excuses? Hmm, I think I am. But seriously how do you get over that?

Spring Into 2009 Looking & Feeling Fine Challenge

Shortgal - I am soooo going to hibernate with you! I feel like curling up with a good book and that's it! -
Thanks Jacqui and L12. Jacqui, I really appreciate you saying it took a good six months of pushing before you finally felt good in your body and heart about it. I think that's my thing - it just doesn't feel good! I don't get that runners high. But I would like to BE a runner, to have that achievement. I used to be athletic when I was younger, in baseball, and I was damn good at it too - better than some of the guys I played against! So I just have to tap into that good feeling I used to have, to remember that feeling, to get inspired to exercise again. Six months, huh? Yikes. That's a pretty good commitment to do it that long without it feeling good. You got some willpower, girl!

Spring Into 2009 Looking & Feeling Fine Challenge

Wendy - So unfair! You weigh around the same as me and are in pants two sizes smaller. No, I'm happy for you really. You're sounding so positive and happy! Way to go! I had a total unfill before Christmas because things were highly irritated. I only put on five and the doc was happy with that. They were sure I'd put on more. I had one fill and he wants to go slow this time so I don't keep yo-yoing with the fills. Anyway, I feel like a stuffed sausage now because the pounds are coming on pretty fast. I'm starting the gym again Monday!!!! -
"Lindata, you're right - I also eat out alot less. In fact, it's amazing how much of my existence I've had to redefine because food is no longer the center of my life, no longer the "thing I do" to verify that I am alive and experiencing life. I see this especially when I am travelling. How can you be in America and not have a pizza, a calzone, a pint of Haagen Dazs or an egg roll? The band has made me stop living life through my mouth, and this has been difficult, traumatic, even, but it is a path which I have committed my self to and on which there is no way back." Yes, there's so many things that I've had to give up. I used to LOVE going to the movies. Now I realize it was really only for the popcorn. So now we rent movies at home (cheaper and funner!). I wanted to eat out all the time before and now we're saving a lot of money there too. We hardly eat anything anymore. My husband is marathon training and rarely has an appetite. I just can't get over how little we all actually need to live.

Hey Longhorn, sorry, it's mostly the type of food (they call them superfoods!) that I wanted you to look at, not really supplements - things like berries, green tea, etc. I knew that sounded off when I typed it.

I can't BELIEVE a new coal plant is going to be developed in AR. What is the governor thinking approving this? There is no such thing as clean coal. There can be just as many jobs developed with a clean energy plant such as using wind turbines or solar power, geothermal, etc. This is absolutely ridiculous that in this day and age of global warming that AR would even think of making a new coal plant. Coal plants should be shutting down, not opening! I can't believe this! Please call or e-mail Governor Beebe today and voice your complaint! Linda

Kendra, I find a lot of info on www.mercola.com and www.naturalnews.com very useful. There's tonnes of stuff on there about what kinds of food and supplements help kill off cancer cells. Vitamin D is supposed to be one of the very best things to take (at least 4,000 iu/day). I would highly recommend going to these sites and checking it out.

Hey Bandpal, I have a very active four year old boy too, so I understand what it takes to get through the day! I'm sorry to hear about your dad. That's got to be really tough on your mom taking care of him at home, even with help. It's hard to see it happen to someone you love ... When I go out to eat at restaurants (a rare occurrence now since I don't really see the point!), I find a small Soup always fills me up too. I'm quite appalled at the amounts everyone else eats, which I used to eat. Why did we stuff ourselves so? So you find the American culture very different from where you live in terms of food? That's very interesting. Is the rate of obesity as high where you live as it is in America? My brother lives in England and he's always shocked when he comes to North America in terms of the amount of overweight people here versus there. Have you gone to the Museum of Natural Sciences yet? I wish I could take my little guy there, but I think we'll wait to go to NY when he's a little older and can go to some Broadway shows.

Bandpal - in the south there are only two food groups - deep fried everything and Mexican. -
Does anyone feel like "I should be eating more just for nutrition?" I'm never hungry, but I'm always thinking I should be eating, I'm not getting IN enough. I could probably live off two glasses of milk and one small salad a day. Anyone else feel like this?
-
I had .5 cc's out today. I guess I'm now down to 5.5 cc's - thought I had less in there! I'm feeling much better today - no reflux, and I can drink lots of water again and the eating seems to be much easier.
-
Hi Kendra! It's so nice to hear from you. I think of you often! I've sent a few prayers your way myself, so they're probably in that prayer box of yours.
-
I know you can't tell me how much, but people say a big unfill or a small unfill and I really don't know what "big" or "small" means. I just wanted an opinion on that. I have a 10 cc band, but only about 4 cc's in. I'm thinking 1 cc unfill. Anyway, I'll let you guys know tomorrow what happens and if I feel any better. Today was a good day - hardly any reflux. Any time I had some I had a sip of milk and it went away.

At what point did you stop losing?
lindata replied to dietpeach's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I went from 225 to 171.5 today. I want to get to 150. Does that make a 71% loss of the weight I want to lose? Am I doing the math right? If so holy crap, that makes me happy. -

Hey Jacqui, I'm being totally obtuse here, but by large do you mean like 1 cc? That seems like a lot to me.

Good news! I searched "natural reflux remedies" online and came up with this site that had all kinds of suggestions. The most popular seemed to be eating ginger or ginger tea, chewing gum, and swallowing 1 tablespoon of vinegar or apple cider vinegar. Last night I sipped a few sips of the apple cider vinegar, had ginger tea, and slept elevated. No reflux!
