  1. It was a week today I had my surgery. Didn't take much pain meds in the hospital and haven't taken 1 of the pain pills since I've been home, every day seemed to get better till today where no matter what I do I'm crazy gassy and my left side actually hurts if I stand too long or try walking a lot. I'm pretty irritated but my drs office said its normal to have this happen... I'm hoping tomorrow is much better because today has sucked.

    why do people hide it?

Lol I enjoy the haters!! Funny thing is I was telling my brother yesterday that its kinda nice to have someone not like me ( we were talking about 2 specific people in a group of friends, they are friends with several of my friends) I need a little yin with my yang!! I'm always entertained by those that hate me... Kinda thrive on it! Lol As for hiding the surgery... I haven't hidden it from anyone... The choice to have surgery was mine, nobody else's I gave everyone the opportunity to deal with the news of my surgery the way they wanted... Only one brother of my 4 was upset about it... I simply told him that he didn't have to like my decision but his opinion wouldn't be considered in my decisions. This is my body not his. I told him I do however expect you to respect my decision. He was at the hospital the day of my surgery. Because at the end of the day I'm his sister and we support one another no matter what. The difference between myself and most people is the kind of family I have and the kind of support I have. I am extremely lucky in this regard, everyone at my work knows why I'm on medical leave. All my friends and all my family know as well.. I chose to include them in my journey because they are all a part of my daily life in general. I'm Italian I have a huge family (ever seen my big fat Greek wedding? Sums up my family in how family gatherings are) I think confidence plays a huge roll in why people don't say anything or do... I wasn't that kid who got picked on for being fat, I was the kid who had friends in all different social groups. I have always made friends easily, dated traveled... I'm lucky. But it comes from the support and love of the family I was raised in.. Not everyone has that. Again I am lucky to have that kind of support which is why it's easy to tell everyone about it. I wish everyone had the kind of support I have. But they don't.
  3. And itchy my tummy is!!! Lol it's driving me nuts!
  4. You look really bruised... Are they warm to the touch or oozing? My surgeon told me if they are warm to the touch and oozing to call right away.. I don't have staples tho mine are different.
  5. I want to learn to surf, go on a zip line ,go sky diving, scuba diving, horse back riding, and go back to Greece and conquer the 3 mile incline of steps! I got halfway through before I called it quits but I was very proud of myself for making it halfway!!!

Had my surgery on monday 8/12/2013

Yeah I've been sleeping in one. But it's so hard to stay comfortable in one I go back and forth just to change positions but getting sound sleep is something I haven't quite gotten since the surgery I'm staying positive that it will get more comfortable!
  8. 4 days post op. I'm doing better each day. Showering is harder than I expected. Walking is easier than I expected. I took the binder off today to let my incision sites breathe. Having a hard time really sleeping at night as I so badly want to roll on my stomach to get comfy like normal and that us obviously not happening. Anyone else have that issue?
  9. Rather why you decided to have the surgery**
  10. Nobody is perfect. Everyone is gonna slip at some point, you just have to remember why you had the surgery and remember to stick with it... Tomorrows another day, so you lost a battle today you still have a war to win. Keep your chin up.
  11. Oh yeah my back side was hysterical... But probably more accurate!
  12. I think I attached this right Got a good laugh at mine

    Any help would be awesome!

Thanks! Learning after surgery is very different... Taking it one day at a time... But I'm very hopeful this will get easier daily..

    Any help would be awesome!

I think I may of been the only person to ween herself off food about 5 weeks before surgery I replaced one meal with a shake for 2 weeks then three weeks before I did two shakes and one meal. Then two weeks before surgery was the liquid diet I was able to eat one cup of cottage cheese (nonfat) a day or Greek yogurt plus 2 shakes. If I was hungry I'd eat some sugar free Jello. I also drank Water through the day it made it very easy. The two days before surgery I did the clear liquid diet and used the ready made Isopure to stay full since it has a lot of Protein. I weighed 283 5 weeks before surgery and the day of surgery( monday 8/12/13) I weighed 263. Which I was actually very proud of.. Good luck!!

Is Isopure ready to drink a "clear liquid"?

Yes!! It is but it has to be the bottled kind and its been a great thing the last couple days!

    Checked in @ Hospital!

    Good luck!!!
  17. I can get through half a single side before I'm full they are the double stick ones I cut them in half and then try to eat the one half but I get about half of the half in before I'm full.. Wait 30 min before trying any other liquid.. Even one bite or teaspoon over and it's very uncomfortable.
  18. I took my binder off a kettle bit today to let the incision sites breathe ( had sleeve done on Monday) none of them are painful. Walking helps release the gas and that could be causing discomfort ..
  19. [quote=holidayexpressions]Got sleeved yesterday. So jealous of you folks that didn't get gas pains. As soon as I woke up in recovery I had then. worst pain I have ever had in my life. I was regretting my decision to have this surgery until this morning. Still some discomfort but better. Haven't drank anything for 40 hours so sure would like to do that. Could care less about eating or sipping broth. I had mine on Monday, gas pains still have them. Remember to only sip 2 oz at a time when you start..try to space it out every 15 -20 min. That pain of over full by one extra spoonful of liquid is terrible.

I am looking forward to it... I've tried side sleeping and I am too uncomfortable. Even with the body pillow and array of others.. Mostly been sleeping in the lazy boy
