    Pain

I had no desire to get one. I never felt pain. I hardly used the pain pump during my 2 night hospital stay. although I was prescribed pain meds on discharge I still to this day have never had to take 1 pill. I never had to take anything for nausea either. My surgeon was excellent. Everyone heals different and everyone has different levels of pain they can handle. My thought on drains is if you and feel like you just have to have one talk to your surgeon about it.

    Breaking the news! HELP!

  4. After a week on Puréed foods, not bad I don't have an issue with the looks of it. It still taste ok. It takes me an hour to eat about 2oz of food. But I don't get sick or anything. I took the advice of my NUT and eat very slowly and really make sure I chew it even if its puréed. Since the surgery it's been hard to drink Protein shakes as the chocolate vanilla and strawberry make me wanna vomit. I did find that the nectar lemon tea flavor is about the only flavor I can even get in my mouth. So I try to get half my protein from that and the other half with puréed foods. As long as I eat slow I never feel uncomfortable. But I am full. I only eat to make sure I get protein in. Otherwise I'd not eat cuz I'm not hungry. Ever. Water is the best thing to drink for me goes down easily and I do stop drinking 30 min before I know I should eat and don't drink for 30 min after I eat. Again advice from my NUT. Hopefully this path continues. 3 weeks post op. down a total of 13 lbs since surgery and 33 lbs total since pre op. hope everyone else is doing well on their journey!

    Blood clots

My surgeon said the highest risk is up to 4 weeks. She made me take 6 weeks off work due to my long commute to and from work because of the blood clot risk.

    Pre-op diet and diabetes

I am diabetic and had a two week pre op diet, I just checked my blood sugar often many days I only took half of my meds or it would get too low. The last week I didn't take any because my blood sugar was in the 90's. after surgery my blood sugar went nuts! It was at 260! So they had to give me insulin at the hospital. The last 3 weeks since surgery I've just been monitoring it and some days I have to take meds other days I don't. It's still not stable. My surgeon said its normal and once I'm completely healed it will stabilize. But it's been getting better and the highest it's been since I've been home is 168. Time will tell I suppose.
  7. For me, it was a hairline fracture in both of my feet. I was out doing the couch to 5k program and doing pretty well till I had these pains in my feet so I went to a foot specialist. Where I found out I hairline fractured a bone in each foot. Was then told to lose weight before I worked out, but to stay off my feet for a while as they take a long time to heal... That combined with my diabetes my PCP and I had a long talk and decided this was the best decision for me. Although in the couple months I was doing the diet and exercise plan and lost weight, my injury made it impossible to keep off because I was already devastated that here I was doing well and of course I'd get injured. I'm looking forward to getting back to trying the couch to 5k again after some weight loss because it really was a great program.
  8. Um ok. I'm not sure what that has to do with anything I said, but alright.
  9. My surgeon said yesterday at my 2 week follow up that its normal till you become more active. At least in my situation as if I walk or stand too long my left side starts to spasm where the cut through the muscle. So until I'm completely healed and that no longer happens I can't be as active, therefor I won't burn as many calories to loose, but it's normal... So I'm not worried that in 2 weeks I've only lost 11 lbs and most of that was in the first weeks post op.
  10. I didn't call anyone for a few days I had my family text my friends and other family members for me. I just had no desire to charge my phone to call anyone or anything.
  11. It tasted metallic to me and I couldn't eat it either

Are There Any Single Sleevers Out There..

Ugh dating.... Lol I'm only two weeks out from the surgery... But dating hasn't ever been easy or hard... Easy to get dates, problem is (and I don't mean all men are like this) men seem to like dating more than one person at a time. I just refuse to deal with it and I walk.... I've never been one to deal with lying or cheating because I'm better than that. I'd rather be alone. We shall see how this stuff goes after the losing process.... Who knows.
  13. I tried many other low dose hormone birth control pills and all of them made me super sick and I bled straight through... So the depo was a life saver. For me.
  14. I lost weight on depo lol not a lot like 10 lbs but it had the opposite effect on me...

    Fecal Impaction... tmi... HELP!

My surgeon told me bowel movements would be irregular till I started puréed foods and not to worry about pooping till then... I get that tar like disgusting bowel movements once in a while but it's not regular... I will be 2 weeks out on Monday, but don't start puréed foods till Tuesday. I can't imagine there is too much waste to get out if you are still on liquid.

    Period

My surgeon made me stop my birth control as the risks of clots are higher when you are on it... I'm on the depo shot( which I love) I have only spotted here and there since I stopped She also told me I can resume 3 months post op. I know your body goes through hormonal changes during surgery and its normal to be off but maybe the added hormone is making it worse? Maybe check with the dr you normally go to for birth control and ask them if you should continue to take it or stop for a while...
  17. Gastric Sleeve Diets Guidelines and diets for the Gastric Sleeve Pre-op Diet 2 Weeks Before Surgery: In the 2 weeks prior to surgery, you will be on a liquid diet. You will begin having 3 meals per day. This diet helps prepare the digestive tract for surgery, helps shrink your liver and reduces surgical risks. Two meals per day will be liquid Protein supplements. FWLB recommends Bariatric Advantage Meal Replacement or Premier Protein shakes (Premier may be purchased in our office). Men may need an extra one to get enough protein. Protein (based on your current BMI) does NOT change even when you get to your goal. This will be the amount you will need forever. 3rd meal will be soup (any kind, and you may have everything that is in the soup). Campbell's, Healthy Choice, Progresso, homemade, etc. is fine, but stay away from heavy cream soups- like tomato basil from La Madeline's. You may have any of the following: Low fat cottage cheese, Tofu Diet V-8 fusion, etc. Iced tea (unsweetened or use artificial sweeteners) coffee (decaf only) Low fat creamer, Skim or 1% milk, Soy milk sugar free popsicles Artificial sweetener sugar-free drinks only (Crystal Light, G-2 gatorade, Diet Powerade, etc.) Sugar-free pudding Low fat yogurt (Greek yogurt has almost double the amount of protein per serving) Sugar-free Gelatin (no fruit added) This was mine.. And I lost 20 lbs before surgery... Every office is VERY different in what they believe is best.... I was happy with soup because it wasn't sweet... But we had a list of things we could replace things with still staying low calorie and high protein.
