  1. The truth is that the 65% you almost just need to follow your hunger, the other 35% is where up the dicipline starts to become the rule and continues to be the rule for life. I am at my goal 195 lbs am 6 feet tall and am approaching 70. I still limit my carbs to once ir twice a week at one or two meals. I speed walk (I have knee arthritis) a minimum of 4 miles 4 to 5 times a week and do 50 to 100 ab crunches on those days. I still eat 6 to 7 times a day but always make sure to control portion size. The Sleeve is the best decision I ever made and I now am more confident about attending my grandkids weddings, many years from now.
  2. Try Weight Watchers. Your stomach is small enough to deal real well with their program.
  3. One year ago had my sleeve. I weighed 340lbs. I now have weighed 190 plus or minus 2 lbs for almost 3 months. At 6 feet and 68 years old I am done and I guess that I lost more than the 65% you were told. I still eat almost no carbs (once a week) and still stay high in my proteins. I exercise 4 to 5 times a week (5 miles speed walking at a 4.2 mph pace). I also eat 6 to 7 times a day, mainly a yogurt (Danon Fit and Light Greek) and Humus with carrots. That is it! Good luck.
  4. One year later I am still irregular, perfectly normal considering what and how much you are eating and drinking. More number 1 less number 2.

    How to fight HEAD HUNGER?

People with the overweight disease are predominately head hungry and not stomach hungry. My sleeve convinced me of that. I am one year post surgery and lost 150 lbs. I still put too much food on my plate and can't even eat even half of it. I eat every 2 hours but never eat carbs. My mainstay is protein then veggies then fruit. I also speed walk 5 miles 5 days a week. Every one has to find what works for them, but in order for the sleeve to work you have to keep trying until you find it.
  6. I am no expert, but I waited until I was 67 to take a surgical approach to a life long SICKNESS. For anyone who thinks that what I did was either crazy or an easy way out, think about a disorder you may have and what you are doing about it. Whatever you are doing, nothing or a lot, someone will say you are taking the easy way out. Making this decision was the hardest of my life. Look how long it took me. A year later and 150 pounds lighter (6.0 feet 200lbs) I feel better than I ever have. I speed walk (4.2 mph) four to five miles a day and have taken up boxing twice a week. Easy no, required for me to maintain, yes! For me, in the proper order, there is only 60+ grams of protein a day, then veggies or fruit and then very limited carbs maybe once a week (maybe whole wheat pasta). The other big deal for me is eating something every 3 hours (Danon light & Fit Greek Yogurt 80 calories is the best followed by Humus and baby carrots). I also drink as much as I can, even though it is not even close to that recommended 64 ounces a day. This is the best decision I ever made and I have no problem telling this to anyone.
  7. You too. I have stepped up my exercise as I do eat more than I did 4 months ago. Still am very strict on the very very limited carbs and that seems to be doing the job. I never experienced real cravings for the first 6 to 8 months and whatever hunger I felt was handled with a yogurt or some humus. Keep up the great work and I mean the word work.

    Upcoming Sleeve!

Expect your food life to change radically. But all for the good. Start exercising as soon as you can (walking is exercise) and stay positive. It really works if YOU want it to.

    Sleeved and not felt "full"

The more complex the food the fuller you will feel.
  10. Eat your protein first, then veggies, then fruit and if you are still hungry, don't know how, go for the carbs. That has been my way of life for the last year. I will allow myself a whole wheat pasta with turkey meatballs every two weeks. I also eat the individual a sabra Humus that comes with pretzels at 120 calories from time to time. I wouldn't worry about doing that especially if you exercise regularly.
  11. I had my sleeve a year ago. I am 68 years young and 6.0 feet tall. I weighed 351 pounds and now weigh 200. This is my goal weight and I have been maintaining it for almost 3 months. I certainly can and do eat more than I did post surgery but I still stick to the same routine of proteins then fruits and veggies but no carbs. I also eat 6 times a day, even if it is a Danon fit and light Greek yogurt or some humus with carrots. I certainly recommend doing that. Don't forget the exercise. I speed walk 4 to 5 miles a day and now box twice a week. The sleeve saved my life, let it do the same for all of you.
  12. You should be fine. I was back at work a week after surgery.

    Mens Stats

Today is my one year anniversary. I am 67 years old and 6.0 feet tall. I weighed 351 going into surgery and now weigh 203, a weight that I have been maintaining for the last 2 months. I eat 6 times a day and am still eating only protein, veggies and fruit. Carbs have not entered my body since my sleeve. I am probably eating up to 2000 calories a day. I speed walk (I need 2 knees replaced) 4 to 5 miles 4 to 5 times a week and now box twice a week. Average of 500 to 600 calories burnt. I weigh my self daily in the morning and am still afraid that I will gain weight (maybe that's a good thing). My sleeve saved my life. All of you hang in there.
