Hi there, I also have MVP and got approval right away. I think they are changing their guidelines though and becoming more strict. That's what I have heard recently. But, good luck to you. Let us know how u make out.

Congrats to you all on your accomplishments!!!! I had surgery on 2/10/05 and as of this morning I am down 98 lbs, only 2 more to go until I hit the big 100......yippee!!!!!

I also heard that not taking in enough Iron causes hair loss as well....Anyone hear that also?

My Doc says I should use SPF 40 on my Scars before I go tanning. I had surgery Feb 10th. Did anyone ever hear of covering your scars before tanning? If so, why?

With my insurance you had to lose 5% of your body weight before surgery.

Take a look at this site! Very informative!

My question is ...is there a pouch above our band or not? It's hard to tell from those pics? -
Hi Jorjet I have gotten them at the other local grocery stores as well as eckerd and target. Good Luck. You can also take the EAS protein drink..but you have to drink one more a day because it has less protein then carb solutions.

Hi Porcln, sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well. You should try Simethicone tablets that dissolve in your mouth. Carolyn suggested I use those after my surgery. I found them at Stop and Shop. They work real well to break up the gas. I hope you feel better. Let me know I still have almost a whole bottle, I can bring them to you at the next meeting if you still need it.

Hi ...Dr Kwon told me to take simethicone tablets that dissolve in your mouth, it helps to break up the gas. I felt much better after taking it. The gas pains were real bad. You can find them at your local grocery store. Good Luck...

Hi everyone. I am debating whether or not to get a fill. I was filled 2.5 cc at the time of surgery in a 4 cc band. I had surgery on Feb 10th and have lost a total of 50 lbs now, that includes 14 lbs pre op. I am starting to feel hungrier than I have been since surgery. The weight loss seems to be continuing though. I am wondering what are your thoughts of getting a fill or waiting another month or so. What do you all base your fills on?

Hi Kristen. I didn't need a stress test either. I never had a history of a heart problem and i am young. i don't think that you need to call Dr. Kwon's office. The meeting on Monday is at the Orange Inn. Jess

Hi Jorjet. I am sorry that you are down. I know that feeling quite too often lately. And of course it's easier to tell you what a great job you are doing than it is to believe it myself. But, It's TRUE 12 lbs is a great weight loss. When I'm discouraged I try to think of how long would it of taken me to lose this weight without the surgery. 12 lbs would've taken me at least 3 or more months and then trying to keep it off would be even harder. You're doing GREAT!!!!! Hi Porcln. The stuck feeling for me is when I eat too quickly and don't chew well. Just about anything can get stuck for me. It feels like a pressure in the middle of my breasts, like something stuck. The other night it was bad. I was stuck for 30 min, spitting a lot of saliva trying to get it down. Then it was so painful I even tried to vomit, but it finally went down , Thank God. I had an awful burning sensation in my chest. Believe me, you'll know when something is stuck. You can have sugar free Jello and if you feel that you really need to eat something you can have whipped cottage cheese, or a little yogurt, baby food also. I will see you all on Monday. I am waiting till mon to see if I really am as hungry as I think I am, or if it was just b/c it was the time of the month for me.

I don't know about you guys but my doc tells me that his women patients should stick to between 500-800 cal a day. I think that's nuts!!!!!!! And, I find that I don't lose well when I don't eat enough. Wondering what your doc tells you?
