For you long term bandsters : Does this brain hunger ever get better? I've been banded since Feb 10th and I deal with brain hunger every day. I know it's going to be a long journey, but does it ever ease up? It's awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It controls me.

Hi there..I live in Dutchess County. Dr. Kwon and his staff are great. I am 19 days post op. Caroline the physician's assistant is so caring, and Dr. Kwon is real strict, which is great. Where do you live? Have you gone to see him yet? Let me know how you're doing.

Hi there...Yup I live in upstate NY..and it's still coming down!!! The snow is halfway up the tires on my car. My husband is lucky, He works for the school district and of course they closed. But, my job opens at 11..I hope they close so I don't have to venture out in this weather. My car sucks in the snow! Hope all you are safe and sound..and of course WARM!

Won't do surgery until lose some weight....
Jasper replied to LapBandFan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi there..I had to lose 15 lbs before my surgery and of course I waited till the last minute..thinking that Thanksgiving and Christmas were going to be my last holidays where I could EAT and EAT and EAT.. But , needless to say that I did take the 15 lbs off in less than a month. I started off drinking 2 protein shakes a day, and a small dinner with carbs. I did that for 2 weeks and then drank a shake for breakfast, had soup or chilli for lunch, then did a dinner lo fat with no carbs. That worked for me. But we all have different body types. If she is going to eat lo carbs but high fat...I am not sure if that's going to work. I hope this helps. -
Hi there..I had my surgery on a thurs and woke up groggy and with some pain. I felt like i had some trouble breathing through my mouth. The nurse said she thinks it was because I wasn't used to that feeling of the band there. But, that soon passed. The only pains I had were gas and the pain from the port incision since it's bigger than the other ones. I was up walking around 5 pm, but was only able to walk around the nurse's station once before I had to rest again. This was my first surgery...and I was really scared, but It went better than expected. Good luck, my prayers are with you. Let us know how you are doing afterward.

Hi there...I am 17 days post op and I too lost 10 pounds in the first 4 days. But, according to my scale haven't lost any since, and actually fluctuate from 2 pounds higher- lower on some days. I agree with you that I feel discouraged since we are only eating less than 500 cal a day. But, I have to often think of those 10 lbs as a great start...and that thought keeps me motivated. If we didn't have this surgery 10 lbs would most likely take us a month or more to lose and we lost it in less than a week. Try not to stress out about your lack of weight loss..I believe that It will come...Good luck and let us know how you're doing.

Hmm let's see...I started gaining weight when i was 13, in junior high school. I know I was teased, but can't remember, or at least don't want to remember the names that I was called. But, one thing sticks out in my mind vividly. For gym class each girl was weighed. Of course we were all weighed in front of each other. I wasn't obese then, but I was definiately overweight and enough to be embarrassed about it. I remember that I was mortified and my excuses came quickly. I told one girl well you appear thinner than me b/c you are taller. How awful was it that I was 13 and already knew that. I also remember that throughout my school years I hated gym class, I hated big crowds, walking in the halls with the other kids was so intimidating to me. I can't believe I've let food and weight control my whole life. It's awful!!!! I remember growing up my mom would always say some kind of comment when she saw me eating too much, or snacking a lot. HMMM, didn't she know that it made me EAT more??!!!?? I ate when I was depressed, happy, sad, angry, bored, anxious, alone...Just for no reason at all. I am only 16 days out and find that food still controls my life. I think about it most of the time. Last night we were hanging out with friends, playing games, they ordered pizza, and had snacks. I wasn't hungry my egg drop soup and protein pudding filled me up just fine. But of course, instead of enjoying each other's company in my mind I obsessed about wanting that pizza and wanting those chips. Does it ever end? I don't want food to control my life or monopolize my mind!!!!! It's sad, but it's reality. Food seems to be the only thing that comforts me, in the moment of course, but then it becomes the devil. I want to be FREE! http://www.TickerFactory.com/">

I had a 2.5 fill at surgery with a 4cc band. I am 2 weeks post op and am starting to get hungry these past couple of days. Eating soup and cheated a little but I still could eat. I don't get this feeling like OMG i have to stop or else? Does anyone know what that's about?

Hi again. I am 14 days post op today and today is the 1st day that I am feeling really hungry. I had a protein shake for breakfast..and normally I drink the next one in the afternoon although I am not very hungry. Today I have hunger pains. I have a high protein pudding for lunch since I am not on pureed till Monday. But what do you think of a tsp or 2 of finely chopped egg salad? Is it too soon? Is it normal to feel so hungry even with the band filled 2.5 cc already?

Is it hard to stop eating when you're full now that we have the band. I just ate 12 oz of egg drop soup, was full but of course I could do more. I prob should of had 8 oz? Is that stretching the pouch too much? Will the band slip?
-
So for the mushy food stage , it could be any food , obviously not steak or anything, but as long as i put it in the food processor?
-
That's Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a great feeling, isn't it? Keep up the good work...

Thanks for the words of encouragement Alex...I have the band which can hold up to 4cc is that the Vanguard band? How many different styles of bands are there? I did eat the egg sald and wish i didn't, my stomach is rumbling and swishing...I lost 10 lb right after the surgery , but haven't lost any since..Is this normal? I am not eating much and feel i should loose more. Are lolipops okay to suck on for something sweet occasionally? Is it possible to gain weight during this phase?
