Hi everyone. I am 7.5 months out and doing amazing. I am down 98 pounds since surgery. I am blessed to say that things have gone perfectly….. until now. In the last two weeks I have been having pains in my upper stomach region, mostly at night. It is centered right where my rib cages meet at the top. It even hurts when I physically touch it. It tends to happen with dinner which is my biggest (still small) meal of the day. Has anyone else experienced this? I go to see my nutritionist on Friday but I am hoping to get a bit more insight between now and then. Thanks in advance

I had my gallbladder removed before surgery.

Hi everyone. I am currently 16 weeks post surgery and I am currently down 63 pounds since my pre-op diet. I am getting married in November and I am planning to buy my dress in August. I know that I will have to buy off the rack instead of ordering it since it is such short notice but I have no idea what size to buy. Right now I am in a 16. I think I will be a 14 by August with no problems at all. Does anyone have suggestions?

Thanks everyone for responding. I went to try on dresses and picked an amazing one!! The first time I tried it on a 14 didn't zip all the way. The next time I went, two weeks later, the 14 zipped all the way and fit perfect. After talking with the head seamstress about my WLS she suggested that I buy a 10. That made me crazy nervous because in my mind I was thinking there is no way a 10 will ever fit me never the less in 3 months. So I bought a 12 and figured they could size it down. I went back this past weekend (3 weeks later) to pick it up and the 12 fit tight but zipped all the way. I am two months from my wedding. I go back for alterations in a month. It is crazy that the 10 might end up working…. I will post pictures after the wedding. What a crazy journey this has been. Never in a million years would I have though I would be buying a size 12 wedding dress and sizing down. I love my sleeve -

Thank you everyone for your responses. This is so helpful. I am size 16 misses currently. It makes me so nervous to spend so much money on something that doesn't fit me right now. Thanks again -

Did anyone else not do a full 2 week preop diet?
moonshun replied to Justicenga's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was scheduled and then less than a week left to be four days earlier. I only ended up doing the pre op diet for one and half weeks. I got really nervous about it but my surgeon reassured me it would be fine. Especially if I was sticking to it and not cheating. 5 days post op now and I am thankful that I didn't have to do the entire time! -
Pre-Op Diet Hell!
moonshun replied to She's_Sleeved's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took me 2 full days of torture and a 3rd day of rough until it felt normal on the 4th day. It does get easier. Remind yourself of why you are doing it. Don't give in!! -
I am having my surgery tomorrow. TOMORROW - I can't believe I am saying that. I was originally scheduled for Thursday but my surgeon changed it to Monday. I am scared out of my mind. I am down 12 pounds already from the pre-op diet. That is huge motivation but I am so nervous. I think the only two things that really scare me are not waking up (risk with any surgery) and the pain after. I have watched so many youtube videos of people right after the surgery. I know everyone is different but stressing is one of the things I do best. Any words of encouragement would be nice to hear today.

Well I made it! Everyday I feel little bit better but if I am being totally honest, only a LITTLE bit. I came home from the hospital today. I still have gas pains and a crick in my neck. I really feel if those stopped hurting so much I would be tons better. I can't believe I am on this side now. It's crazy!

Tomorrow is my surgery
moonshun replied to KimberlyBranco7's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is tomorrow also. The cravings aren't as bad for me as the the desire for something besides a sweet Protein shake. WE HAVE MADE IT!! -
What is a realistic goal?
moonshun replied to LalaLori's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Good Luck tomorrow LalaLori. I am also having surgery tomorrow. These nerves are crazy!! I never discussed a goal with my surgeon either. I am 5'6" and hope to see 150 but honestly I want to be happy with myself and healthy. The number isn't as important to being comfortable with who I am. Maybe I should add that to the list of questions that is growing for my surgeon! -
Good Luck to you tomorrow!!

I meet with my surgeon on Wednesday to prepare things to be sent to my insurance and book my surgery date. My insurance will be switching on April 1st so I have to HAVE the surgery and be out of the hospital by then. My surgical coordinator reassured me over the phone that it can be approved in 2 weeks but I feel like I read more and more stories about how that isn't happening for people. I have Oxford Health Insurance. Did any of you get approved within the first two weeks on your first attempt at approval?? I am so nervous!

I got my approval today!!! I can't believe it. My surgery is on March 20th. The roller coaster of emotions I have been through today is crazy.

In the past I have had ovarian drilling, endometriosis burning, and exploratory surgery on my ovaries. Has anyone else been through this who can compare the pain levels between any of those and VSG? Each of those surgeries were done in a similar manner with small incisions in the abdomen and gas pumped in. Thanks in advance.

My paperwork says, "Do not use a straw to drink as it may cause gas and discomfort."

I know many of you have blogs and blogs. I really want to start following them. Please reply with a link!!

I started my pre op today also. It is ROUGH!! This is definitely not the "easy way out". I have been through starving sensations, nausea, light headedness, doubt, and body temperature problems today from not eating. Day one down… 13 to go. I am still waiting on my approval. I will cry if I go through this pre op and don't get approved. Please say a prayer that my approval goes through!!

Telling people Im having weight loss surgery.
moonshun replied to karinbuck's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those of you who are not telling people, what do you plan to say when you get asked a million times about how you did it? -
I am going through this exact same thing. I am currently scheduled for March 20th pending insurance approval. My paperwork was supposed to be submitted yesterday… so I wait. My insurance changes on April 1st so I am trying desperately to be done by then. Good luck to you!

Telling people Im having weight loss surgery.
moonshun replied to karinbuck's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My date is March 20th also (assuming my insurance approval comes through - it was submitted yesterday). I struggle with the same thing. I don't want to lie about having it and am not ashamed to tell people that I had weightloss surgery but I have no idea how to handle the comments I get. I even had one person tell me, they had a friend of a friend of a friend who had ta sleeve and grew a second stomach. What can you say to that except that they need to do some research before they say ignorant things. I'm just left shaking my head….
