That is the worst feeling. I have lost/gained weight many times and hated that part the most. I always made it just to the border to XL and sometimes it fit, and sometimes it didn't. I felt like I was right in between plus sizes and regular sizes and I hated it! I just wanted to belong to one them! Just focus and use your XL clothes as a goal. You will be there in no time!

Hey everyone, thanks for your support. I feel a lot better today. A good night's sleep was the best solution for me!

Ok, what the heck am I supposed to do with myself when some emotional problem happens and I want to eat? What else do I do? Today my really good friend of 15 years called to tell me she was pregnant after just 2 mo of trying. I love my friend and am overjoyed for her but I have been struggling with infertility for years. So, of course I am happy for her. But I feel bad for myself...why can't that happen to me, blah blah blah and I am having a pity party here. So of course the first thing I want to do is eat, but I can't bc I slimed this morning and I am so sore, that when I tried to eat lunch it got stuck too. So I am on liquids and I don't know what the heck to do with my depressed self to make me feel better. I went to the gym and worked out for 75 minutes, but that didn't really make me feel better. Then I decided to go shopping and maybe heal my woes with some retail therapy...but that didn't work either. Should I just deal and tomorrow will be better? food always made me feel better and I don't know what to substitute that with now.

I hate the reaction too, and that is why I decided not to tell anyone. People have these ideas in their head and they think that just bc they have never had a weight problem, you shouldn't either and it is just your willpower. Screw 'em!!!

How do I feed my spouse?
TulipStar replied to zippykat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cooking for me and my hubby has defnitely proved to be a challenge. But it has worked out. I cook about 3 x a week. I cook healthy things like a stir fry (keep the vegetables crisp so it reheats well) and other chicken/vegetable dishes that reheat well. We eat it the first night and the 2nd night we reheat it. My hubby has actually lost some weight even though he only has 5lbs to lose -
How do you get used to 'leaving food behind' ?
TulipStar replied to Mrs SmartyPants's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just read a book about lapbands and it says to "leave some for the angels", meaning to leave food on your plate for angels. It sounds funny, but it works! -
I had one fill and I can definitely tell the difference. Mornings are especially hard for me as I am really tight. If I try to eat anything that is not warm, it will get stuck. It might take a couple more fills for you before you feel it.

Wow wheetsin, you are right. I didn't read your post and just tried to eat some tuna fish for lunch. Two bites and OUCH!! I am in pain and sliming again. Thanks for the advice, I didn't know.

I started walking every day about a week post op. Then I started going back to the gym around week 4 and got back into the full swing week 6. My dr. recommended 6 weeks, but said that as long as I avoid abdominal exercise, I should be ok at week 4. I am at 7 weeks po and still have tenderness when trying to do ab work, so I am still avoiding it until I feel better. I exercise 4-5 days a week at the gym, 3 days a week at home.

Congratulations Nancy! You are over the hump of getting approved for insurance and now get ready for the new YOU!

The bodybugg truly makes a difference. I had started to gain weight back before my 1st fill. I started using the bodybugg 2 weeks ago (this is my 3rd week) and I have lost 8 lbs. I LOVE it!

I am sooo excited. At work today someone actually asked me if I lost weight, because I look thinner! I have lost over 20lbs and no one has said anything and I know it's hard bc I am heavy and I expected people to start noticing around 40lbs. Yahoo!!:clap2:

Tomecia25, You should call UHC and ask them specifically what you need to get approved. Each plan is different. sometimes they want a 5 year history, sometimes they want you to try a diet for 6 months. If you only have a history from 2002-2005, then that will have to do. I never did go to the dr much, but I did go to the OB/GYN annually for my check-up. That's where I got my 5 year documentation from. Is there any change you went to you OB/GYN??

I haven't had any problems with it fitting under my clothes. I thought I would, because I wear alot of suits to works and the sleeves are sometimes tight. I was especially worried about a wool houndstooth jacket that is 2 sizes too small, but it fit just fine. I was also worried about people noticing it was under my sleeve, but when I tell people about it, they ask, where it is. So, you can't really see it.

The woman who gave me my fill is a physician's assistant. She is Vietnamese. She is a little cold, but I think that is her personality. I thought she just didn't like me... but now that I hear she is like that all the time, I won't take it personally! Joaquin, what time you get in and out depends on what time they schedule you for surgery. I was the last person scheduled for surgery at 1:00pm in the afternoon. they were running late, so I didn't have my surgery until 6:30pm and I got home around 10:00pm (decatur is about an hour away from my house). -
I had another person say they could tell in my face!! About 5 years ago, I lost over 100lbs with diet pills and I remebered that no one said anything untli about 40lbs. I was devastated, so I knew what to expect this time!

Why Aren't You Losing Weight?
TulipStar replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am so frustrated bc the weight loss is so slow. This week I lost ZERO pounds. I carefully logged all my food, with an average of 1200 calories per day. I am also exercising every single day, 4 days of step aerobics (45 minutes) followed by 20 minutes on the rowing machine. I also walk 3 days a week and I have start weight training. It is really frustrating to see the scale stay the same. However, my clothes are definitely looser and I fit into jeans I haven't worn in forever. According to my bodybugg, I should have lost at least 4 lbs, but I didn't so I must be lying and my caloric intake must have been over 3000 calories per day! No way is that right. UGH! I know that I should only be eating like 1000 calories per day, but that is soo hard. I find 1200 to be much more reasonable and I am still hungry with 1200. -
I gained a few lbs before my first fill and week 4-5 was the worst for me as far as hunger. I was eating about 1500-1800 calories a day during this time. After my first fill, I felt restricted and it is a lot easier to stick to 1000 calories a day. My Dr. gave me a menu to follow: Breakfast: oatmeal w/skim milk (for protein) OR lowfat yogurt mixed with kashi go lean Cereal OR eggs with turkey bacon/canadian bacon Lunch: Fill half of my plate with Protein and eat all the protein first. Then eat 1/4 plate of vegetables, then eat 1/4 plate of fruit (if I am still hugnry) Dinner: The same as lunch. She told me to stay away from Protein shakes bc they will not make me feel full and will only load me up on calories. Solid foods only! After my first fill, my weight loss started again and I dropped 4 lbs in the first week. Also, start getting more activity in. Wear a pedometer and try to hit 10,000 steps a day. The activity will counteract your caloric intake and result in weight loss. You can do it! Good luck!!

I had the same problem. As they say on this board "welcome to bandster hell". The only thing that I can say is that you have to use a little (ok, a lot) willpower. Also, try to load up on protein first and avoid bad carbs (white stuff) this will help control your hunger.

Sounds like you had the most awesome band day EVER! congratulations!

WOW, that is HUGE!!!! Congratulations!!!!

I have the display watch. I don't even use it. I can see how it would be helpful, but not for me, yet. congratulations on your bugg Suzzzie. You will fall more in love that you will have separation anxiety if you forget to wear it
