  1. I'm having the hardest time with eating with no liquid, Every time I eat, I have liquid close by and end up drinking during my meal. I've gotten food stuck & I felt is if I was going to choke without the water to push it down. Sometmes I spit up when I'm too full, or eat too fast, or It's just not going down. Does anyone else have this problem with liquid and meals? :help:
  2. :help: I have 2 re-accuring problems at the moment, 1st one is, I can do good all day long, nite time I fall apart, I eat all through the nite. I will say I don't eat as much as I did, I just don't want to eat at all during the nite, once I wake up the first thing I go for is a bowl of cereal. It goes down easy, it has liquid with it and I enjoy it, I just don't wish to enjoy it at nite.:hungry:  my other issue is, I feel like I can eat more, I've had 2 fills total. when I first got the fills, eating was a little harder, now after having the fill for 2 weeks, food goes down easier. Do you think the liquid somehow comes out and its not as tight, or did I stretch something? How do you know? My doctor did tell me that my 3rd fill would be my most noticeable, which I'm due to have done on 7/18/07, has any one else felt like the tightness goes away as time goes by. I'm a little discouraged because I don't seem to be loosing any weight, I'm not gaining but I'm not loosing either-got any suggestions:speechles

    April 07 bandsters?

Hi, I'm Teri, from California. I was banded on 4-23-07. I lost 13lbs before the surgery and 14lbs since the surgery. I had my first fill 4 1/2 weeks after surgery-not a real big change in eating, 2nd fill was 6/13/07 at that time, I weighed exactly the same (no weight Loss), I'm due for my third fill on 7-18-07. I'm nervous, I feel like I'm not doing that well. Somedays I feel lighter than other days, I never weigh, unless I go to the doctor (im too chicken) When I first recd. my fills, I surely felt the tightness, but after a week or so, eating becomes easier. So I'm concerned I've stretch it, or the fluid has leaked out some how, I'm a worry wart too. I know that I'm not the same as before and thats a good thing for me. Little goals one at a time. Happy to be here with all you other April 07 bandsters- please keep me updated with your concerns, facts, progress- I want to know it all. Your Friend, Teri

    Getting a Correct Fill

I Have had 2 fills, w/o flouro, I don't even know what that is. My first fill I had no restriction, my second I have, I'm looking forward to the 3rd come July 18th, I know I'm restricted and feel it, its just not enough, I still eat to much.
  5. Lisa, something you said about the 3.5 cc and then after a week it was 1.5 cc, does this mean you've lost some of the liquid being put in the band? If so, how does that happen? Why I ask, is because I've had 2 band adjustments and they start off tighter but feel they get looser after about 3 days afterwards.
  6. I was banded on April 23rd, I lost 14lbs before the surgery and since have lost 14lbs. I've had 2 fills, my first fill I had gained 1lb. my second fill I remained the same. I have alot of weight to loose, I began at 341 and now I'm 313 and not real happy with my self. At first I felt no restriction with the 1st adjustment, the 2nd I did fill somewhat of an adjustment, I return on 7/18 (I'm hoping for a loss) somedays I feel like I've lost and other days I feel the same, I have yet to feel like I'm gaining, which is a good thing for me. The doctor told me that the 3rd adjustment I will feel alot of difference. He adjusted the 1st time after only 5 wks. then 4 wks later the second time. I guess it all depends on your doctor. My doctor is Dr. Coirin from Modesto, California. He was a little upset with me on the eating part after the surgery, I was really bored with the soft, puree, liquid stuff-I wanted to eat and slowly I just kept trying things. Bread, Pasta, Rice, Doughy things bother me the most, Plus I can't seem to stay away from the liquid during my meals, so I'm pushing the food through to fast. I really have to work on this. Also I have a bad habit of eating during the nite.....thats a real bad habit of mine. Sorry so long
  7. Vicky, I was also told to eat 800 calories a day, I have yet to try to calculate that, I'm lazy. I'm not an expert at anything, but I believe you will loose 30lbs, in 5 weeks if you eat 800 calories a day, thats about 6lbs a week. It can be done!!! Let me know how its going....I will try to watch my calories too...
  8. I did the same thing before my surgery, I kept telling myself I had to eat all my favorite things before the pre-op diet, because I wouldn't be able to eat again. Thats not true, I had my Band placed on 4/23/07. First 4 wks. I ate soft, liquid, puree, then I started introducing my self back to solids, Now I find that I can eat just about anything, with the exception of bread, rice and doughy things, I eat a smaller portion, I chew my food alot more, (because I have gotten food stuck) thats kinda scary. Eventually you will be able to enjoy the foods you love, you'll just enjoy less of them. Don't get me wrong I don't eat junk food daily. I do eat better, I watch whats going in my mouth and I don't deprive my self 24/7. I could never keep up with this, if I did. My weight loss has not been that steady, I lost 14lbs before surgery and 16lbs since the surgery. total of 30lbs. I Have lots to loose, I started out at 341, now 311, I don't know about you, but I can tell when I'm loosing and when I'm not. My first adjustment, I had gained 1lb. so doctor said no more protein shakes, 2nd adjustment I remained the same. So Its been awhile since I've taken some weight off. That concerns me. Hopefully with a 3rd adjustment due in July, I will do better. I'm hoping for some loss by my appt. I get to comfortable at times....if you know what I mean. I've started riding my bike after dinner with my girls.
  9. I sure hope not, I have alot to loose. The reason I chose the Lap Band because I feel its safer than the bypass surgery. It can always be reversed if complications arise, also I was told I will have 6 adjustments, I have had 2 adjustments so far. I'm looking forward to the third, which I was told will be real noticeable to my eating. 1st I could barely tell I had any restriction at all, 2nd was alittle more restrictive, I have trouble with bread, rice the most, I don't even eat them anymore.
  10. I will tell you, I did not have to do the liquid diet for two weeks, only 24 hours. I did have a 2 week diet, that was hard to handle, its 4oz. protein, 4oz veggie, 4oz fruit and 2 protein shakes a day. I was starving, and I don't know how your doing only liquids for 2 weeks, I don't think I could do that. I say eat the popcicle, Jello, Crystal Lite, Bouillon, what ever, or leave the house, do something else.
  11. The pre-op diet was hard for me, and I had to do three times, The first time my surgery was canceled because they ran out of beds at the hospital, after only having liquids all day, they called about 5pm. to tell the surgery had to be re-scheduled. Then the 2nd time, I actually made it to the operating room, except they had hard time inabutating me (the breathing tube down the throat) So I had to re-schedule again. 3rd times a charm. They had trouble with the tube again, but this time I finally went through the whole procedure. I'm not a big fan of the pre-op diet.
