How Many Calories Should I Be Eating?
livvsmum replied to Bombs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked my surgeon that at my 2 week post op appointment as well and he said not to worry too much about calories at that point, that the main things to concentrate on were Protein and fluids. Every surgeon is different though in their instructions. He said long-term when I am fully healed I would be somewhere around 1000. For now, I'm almost 8 weeks and averaging about 500/day, which I know is on the low side.... -
What do you order at restaurants after weight loss surgery?
livvsmum replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have a lot of work lunches/dinners. I am about 8 weeks post op. I've found that I can find something just about everywhere.I basically order a lean Protein "sandwich" of some kind and just eat off the meat part of it and not the bread. To me the worst part of eating out is not finding things to eat, but is in convincing the waitress that everything was fine with my meal when I only eat a couple bites of it....lol. And trying to ward off questions from my co-workers as to why I'm not eating. -

Does anyone do B12 injections? I had my first one at the doctor's office and today I'm supposed to do my first injection on my own. I'm definitely NOT a nurse and a little nervous about it. Any tips???

When will food go down easier?
livvsmum replied to callchrissy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 7 weeks post of as of yesterday, and it is definitely still a struggle. I agree with others though, it has been trial and error. Some things bothered me at the time and then I tried again a couple weeks. Some days are also easier than others. Yesterday was a not so good day for me..... could only manage to get down about 300 calories and it should be much more by now -
What do YOU do to break through a stall or plateau?
livvsmum posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just wondering what you all do whenever you experience a stall or plateau? Things that have worked to help you break through? -
What do YOU do to break through a stall or plateau?
livvsmum replied to livvsmum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Cheri - that makes sense..... I don't really get too upset to not see the scale move, as I know, like you said it will eventually work out. Just trying to see what others have experienced. -
What do YOU do to break through a stall or plateau?
livvsmum replied to livvsmum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was thinking about that and wondering if upping my calories with "good" calories (not just a bunch of carbs) might help. I'm doing only about 400-450 cal./ day at this point (only 6 weeks out) and I was wondering if maybe a boost would help. -
Question for Those 1 Year+ Out
livvsmum replied to livvsmum's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks for the response! It helps to know what things will be like down the road when you get past the initial few months. I think maybe you're right...maybe I need to mix things up and get some variety. I also weigh myself every day. like you said, it's hard for some people to do that, but I just don't worry if the number is the same, it just kind of motivates me. Thanks again! -
I'm doing well Joy, thanks! I have my 6 week post-op appt today with Dr. Neale and am hoping to get the all-clear for working out. Hang in there!! I know the pre-op appointments seemed to last forever!! Right up until the day of my surgery it seemed surreal because I had waited for it so long. :-)

I had Dr. Neale as well.... Sleeved on 9/12. I'd be all about an online support group for the area. There really aren't any that I've been able to find except for the one in WB, and that is a decent drive for me coming from the Clarks Summit area.

Yes! Agreed! The girls in the office were super-helpful!

What did you eat and/or drink while still in the hospital?
livvsmum replied to MindiJean's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I only had clear liquids in the hospital. I don't think I did pureed until 3 weeks. I had water, diet iced tea, jello, and broth. Very, very small amounts, and that 1 oz. medicine cup was my best friend. -
What is on your menu today 5 weeks out?
livvsmum replied to guthsj's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I'm at 6 weeks now. Typical foods are chicken, fish, lunch meat, cheese, greek yogurt, (still) a Protein shake in the morning, low carb oatmeal occasionally, and I found this awesome low-carb, low-sugar & low calorie apple juice that I was pretty excited about. As far as calories, I struggle with that. I avg. probably 400. I wish it was a bit more because I feel like that would help with the weight loss...but that is about what I can do. -
Hi I'm in the Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton area & scheduled for Sept 12 with Dr Neale

Whos in September? We need some September buddies!
livvsmum replied to janie2024's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't say I'm too terribly nervous at this point in the game. I started the ins approval process almost exactly a year ago so I feel really prepared. A couple of things that do make me nervous are (1) I'm afraid of any post-surgery complications, namely blood clots since I have a family history there. (2) I am generally healthy other than being way overweight and my brain seems to call into question the fact that I am having a surgery that could cause me complications when I am otherwise healthy. HOWEVER, I the remember all the reasons I wanted the surgery in the first place, the first of which is to live a LONG life with my 4 kiddos & hubby and the second of which is to be able to LIVE my life and not watch from the sidelines anymore. I also realize that while I don't have any huge medical issues right now, I am pre-diabetic, and doing "nothing" will lead me to more health issues quickly. -
I am in Scranton and my surgeon is Dr. Gary Neale
