    Christmas - New Year Challenge

Perfect! Thank you! I will take the extra week for sure! :-)
  2. I know! It's kind of crazy to read that it can last up to 6 months! That is scary!

High BMI - VSG vs RNY

It's a tough choice. I went in to the first few months of my pre-surgery program thinking I was going to do the RNY. At about 4 months in I started to have some serious hesitations. I realized that my reservations were all related to the rerouting of the intestines. If I chose the sleeve, I could still have very similar results, but no intestinal changes. When it came down to it I realized that if the RNY would allow me to lose a few more pounds than the sleeve, but I felt more comfortable with the sleeve, then I would go with what I felt best about. In the end they are both just "tools" and losing that extra 10 pounds is now up to me. .....if that makes sense....lol. I have never for one minute regretted it. My point is not to say that you should have the sleeve, but that you should figure out what YOU feel most comfortable with, and go with that. In the end, neither one of them alone will get you to goal....YOU working with your choice will get you there! :-)

    The waiting game begins

Good luck to both of you! I remember waiting for approval! It seemed like it took forever, but it was really only 2 days....lol. I hope everything goes through easily for you both!

    Alcohol?

I have only had 1 drink since surgery and it was when we were out to dinner with friends at about 8 weeks post op. I had a martini. I drank it fairly slowly and couldn't finish the whole thing. I didn't notice any different effects than I normally would.
  6. I'm three months post op and mine just started. Luckily I have loads of hair, but some mornings in the shower I feel like I may go bald! lol.

So I have a question.... Is this a Christmas challenge or a New Years challenge? When does it officially end?

    Christmas - New Year Challenge

Starting Challenge Weight: 224 Check in Week 1: 220 Check in Week 2: 216 -4 pounds each week. I'll take it! :-)
  9. Hi all! Everyone is doing great!!! Go us!!!! Surgery Date: 9/12 Surgery Weight: 278.4 Current Weight: 220.0 58.4 pounds lost! Woohoo! As for me I really can't complain too much. Things have been coming along pretty well, no major stalls or anything. While the pounds were certainly coming off, it took a while for my sizes to start moving down. I got to go out this past weekend and buy some new clothes because the old were just looking ridiculously saggy, so that was fun. My "donate" pile of too big clothes is growing, and last night I put on a cami that used to be skin tight on me and my daughters and I had a good laugh because I literally could have worn it as a mini-dress. :-) So lots of small victories along the way. I would say my biggest and only issue is that I'm having some issues not getting enough Fiber in to keep things moving if you know what i mean. lol.
  10. I know exactly what you mean. No one at work knows that I had surgery. They just think I am on a diet. We have lunch meetings frequently and there is this one person that consistently goes out of her way to ask my why I'm eating so little or be sarcastic about it or try and pressure me into eating more in front of everyone. It's totally uncomfortable and getting to be a real issue to me. Clearly I don't want to tell you why, so quit making a big deal about it!!!!! Most people will say "is that all you're eating" I'll say "yeah" and that's the end of it. Not her..... (insert eye roll)

    Christmas - New Year Challenge

Checking in!! Beginning challenge 224 Current weight 220 Goal weight 210 Off to a good start!
  12. So I was feeling kind of discouraged today and decided to go back through my blog looking for a picture I took about 1/2 way through my pre-op requirement process. It was at my highest weight (same as I was on day of surgery on 9/12) and I just happened to catch a glimpse of myself in the bathroom mirror at work and thought, "I better get a picture of this because i want to remember how terrible I look". When I found it today I put it side by side with my 2 month post op pic (taken 11/12) and I was stunned at the difference. I am still not where i want or need to be, but I'm feeling better about myself today! I LOVE MY SLEEVE!
  13. I know what you mean! It's my worst area too (obviously...) or was anyway. I'm glad I could help give you alittle boost. Hang in there....it is totally worth the journey!
  14. Thanks guys! You all are amazing!
  15. No, no,no... I am TOTALLY happy! It's just hard when you see yourself everyday...you know? I still see the very same person in the mirror most of the times. Sometimes it takes putting the pics side by side to remind myself of how far I've come. :-)
  16. Everything looks fabulous! I definitely need to get more inspired in my cooking.

    New Year's Resolutions

Well I've got the losing weight part down, but I still haven't started working out regularly (bad, I know). I really need to get my butt to a gym, and I also want to run!!! I would love to work up to a marathon of some sort. That would be awesome to accomplish in 2014! I would also like to get to goal in 2014!
  19. Hi all! Checking in. I love reading everyone's updates ! I'm 10 weeks post op & down 55 pounds. Couldn't be happier. I am struggling to find low-cal creative ways to get my Protein in, beyond chicken, fish, & Greek yogurt. Lol. Happy thanksgiving all!!

How Do You Know When To Stop Eating?

I try to stick with portion sizes, and physically I get the hiccups when I am full. There are many times when it tastes so good & my mouth wants more, but I have to stop before I am regretfully uncomfortable
  21. I couldn't agree more! I don't want to go back to "normal". I'm only 10 weeks post op, but I find everyday I'm settling more into my "new normal" :-)
  22. It's frustrating! I agree! I've lost 55 pounds & just now am moving down from an 18 to a 16. It helps to know others have found the same thing.
  23. 5 tiny incisions healing up & getting less noticeable at 10 weeks post op
