Ive been told I no longer have to wait 6 months

I had to switch half way through too. I did 4 months in one program & then switched to a new one. It was pretty seamless. They had all of the appointment notes, tests, etc from the first place so I just picked up where they left off & had my surgery scheduled after the first visit. I definitely didn't have to start the process over. Good luck to you!

    Memorial Day Challenge

So this is a 5-week challenge, right? I just want to make sure I'm counting correctly so I set the right goal. Starting challenge weight (after splurging a little more than I should have on Easter): 167.0 Memorial Day challenge goal weight: 157.0 That would be super exciting for me because it would move me to a "normal" BMI range :-)

6mo post op. Down 101lbs. My success ..

    You've done amazingly! Congrats!
  6. It looks like you and I both started around the same weight. I would say it was between 40-50 pounds lost when people really started to notice. I still get comments almost daily from people at work and church. It doesn't get old....lol. I answer the questions if they are from people I'm comfortable with, or not if not. It really is a case by case basis, although no one at works knows I had surgery, only my close friends and family.

    Low Carb or not....

I'm 7 months post op. My daily goals / limits are no more than 40g carbs (30 is what I shoot for), at least 65-70g Protein, and at least 80 ounces of Water. As of today I've lost 111 pounds, so yes, it seems to be working :-) It is easy to pick the carb-laden foods because they are the snack foods and the foods that we are used to. It definitely takes some work to make other choices. Are there times I would rather grab a handful of pretzels than a cheese stick or greek yogurt? HECK YES!!! lol. But then I try to think about "nutritional value" and carbs bring little to the table there. I've been tracking everything I eat in myfitnesspal and that has taught me a lot about the nutritional value of foods and what exactly is in our food and how much. I would recommend that for sure. Once you look at the actual benefit or value from those carb-heavy foods, it makes it a lot easier to reach for the protein instead :-)

    coffee anyone?

I started back on coffee around 3-4 weeks. The research out there on the pros/cons of coffee on weight loss and after weight loss surgery is divided in conclusions. So basically, I would go with whatever you and your surgeon are most comfortable with. For me, it has been totally fine.

Things I want for my life

This is great! I just have to say that I've been blogging since my first pre-op doc appointment and early on I wrote a blog post about my "bucket" list for after surgery. It was very helpful and motivational for me. I went back to that post again and again when I would doubt my decision to have the surgery (before) and when I would be having a rough day in the first couple of weeks after surgery. It's been awesome to go back to that list now and see that I've checked off a majority of the "bucket list" items and it's only been 7 months since surgery! Good for you, and keep this list somewhere so you can go back to it! You will need the reminder at some points along the journey of why you've made this decision and what you hope to gain from it beyond losing weight.

Desperate: any ppl 5 years out?!

I was going to say just this. It probably makes sense that you are seeing more posts from people who have recently undergone the surgery because that is when we feel we need the most support. I've seen it in myself as well over the past couple of months kind of forgetting to check in etc...... That in combination that the surgery itself is only a few years old as someone else mentioned.

    Easter Challenge

168.6 today for a loss of 2.6 for the week. Not what I had hoped for, but we were at Disney for the week & I didn't eat completely clean, so pretty good I think, given that :-)

  13. Am headed to Disney on Saturday & looking for some info/advice on eating (post-sleeve) there. So for those of you who have been to Disney since surgery, a few questions: - Do Disney dining places accept the little surgery card to let you order smaller or kids portions? -Do they allow sharing of meals, or is it more that you're paying for the experience? -Any tips or tricks for eating healthy & staying with high Protein, low carb while eating at the parks? Any tips or advice is welcomed!

    Eating at Disney

Wow Thank you for all the great information! I didn't realize you were able to take in your own food and Water. Good to know.
  15. I try really hard to stick to no more than 30-40g of carbs, at least 60-65g of protein & 80-100oz of water. That combo has worked for me. I also track everything on myfitnesspal.com. My name on there is livvsmum if you want to friend me & see my logs you are welcome to :-)
  16. Yesterday was my 6 month surgiversary and I cannot be more pleased with this journey. I have so much more energy, have discovered a hidden runner inside me, am more active with my kiddos, and all-around more confident.
  17. You are so close to your goal! You are doing amazingly as well!! Thank you on your kind words! I hope to be able to run my whole 5K too... The training is hard, but every time I complete a run I feel amazing. :-)

    Would you do it again?

Absolutely ....in a heartbeat! I had a little bit of buyers remorse in the first 2 weeks.... but mainly because I'm not sure there's much that can *really* prepare you for the emotional changes if you are an emotional eater.....but since then, I have not regretted it for one single minute. I have, though, been sad that I didn't do it about 10 years earlier!

  20. Sorry it took me so long to reply! I would say the key for me has been sticking to the "basics".... I do no more than 30-40g of carbs per day, at least 60g of Protein, and 80-100 oz of Water. That keeps me feeling full and satisfied for the most part. I also started running and I really enjoy that. :-) Good luck!

  22. My starting weight the day I started my 2 week pre-op liquid diet was 278.4.
  23. Thought I would post this to encourage someone. I feel like a totally different person and have learned a lot about myself through this process. I've learned that I'm very goal-oriented, I've learned that when I take the time to take care of myself I'm a more balanced person, I've learned that the sleeve doesn't "cure" emotional eating & I've learned that success takes really, really hard work & perseverance! :-) Anyway...my "official " 6 month pics :-)
  24. Thank you! Yes, I do work out. I've found that I really love it and it is "me time" :-) Probably my only regret related to this whole weight loss journey is that I didn't start working out until 4 months post op. I should have started much sooner. I don't know what I was afraid of!
