CPAP issues
Norseman's Rage replied to calicojack42's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only thing I've noticed since my surgery last week is that I have headaches in the mornings following use of my CPAP, whereas before I did not. Given the short amount of time since my surgery, I'm hopeful this will eventually clear up. -
September 5 sleever
Norseman's Rage replied to sunnysleeve018's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on Friday the 6th, and aside from the expected soreness, the only thing I can complain about is this lump at the bottom of my throat. I've tried warm liquids and popscicles, but nothing affects it. I'd feel pretty darn good if it would go away. I'm sorry they didn't find the cyst prior to surgery, as it would have seemed logical to have removed whilst they were in their the first time. I also had my gallbladder taken out as well as repair of an old Hiatel hernia. -

Well, I'm right there with you. My operation is scheduled for 8:30AM tomorrow. I wish you the best, and hope all goes well and pain is a minimum! -
Surgery tomorrow! Still wondering if I could do this myself!
Norseman's Rage replied to grateful-1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have absolutely nothing to base this upon, but my logical mind tells me that having a large portion of your stomach cut out is not as big a deal as say, the Roen Y gastric bypass surgery. With the sleeve, as far as I know, the only thing that's happening is making your stomach smaller, as it was at one time anyway. I can't see the long terms issues with that, as it will eventually, and naturally stretch out a bit over time. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it's what I'm thinking. -
September 4th! Tomorrow is the day!

You poor thing. My surgery is later this week and am beginning to get "anxious" as well. Hoping I'm doing the right thing, and not creating more issues than what get resolved. I hope all goes well for you tomorrow! -
Struggling big time.....

I think I'd find another doctor. If one could lose 50lbs before surgery, why have the surgery at all? -
Whos in September? We need some September buddies!

I would be seriously pissed, but I'd also probably go out and buy a steak....lol -

Well, I began my liquid diet today. Chocolate protein shake this morning, strawberry protein shake mid morning, then chicken broth for lunch. Afternoon and evening, repeat and rinse. Actually, the shakes aren't half bad, but I can see where they'll get old really quick. September 6th is coming up fast. Rock-n-Roll! -
Well, I'm scheduled for surgery on Friday, September 6th. Anyone else having theirs around the same day? Kind regards, Kevin

I think it's probably SOP these days. Admittedly, it does make one somewhat nervous, but we've always known that nothing in life is certain when it comes to surgery, (or most things for that matter), and I'm sure the hospital wants to cover all the bases, no matter how remote the chances may be. If I die in surgery, C'est la vie. Have a nice time with my parts. -

Thanks for the welcome, Mytime2shine. I really admire the weight you've lost and the comittment you have to excercising 5 days a week. I'm hopeful of doing something similar. My employer has an on site gym, and since I live in Minnesota, I'll most likely make good use of it! lol Were you able to control the pain with the meds they provided to you after the surgery? I a bit leery, as I had a lower inguinal hernia surgery years ago, and it hurt like hell! Hopefully, this operation will result in pain that is better managed. Regards, Kevin -

I was at my surgeon's yesterday and he's got me scheduled for September 6th. That didn't take long. Both pumped and nervous, and not sure which one will win. lol I hope everyone here has a smooth and no issues surgery. -

Best of luck to you. I hope the surgery achieves everything you want it to, and that pain is minimal. -

Hi Everyone, I'm Kevin and I'm coming down the homestretch towards getting a surgery date from my doctor. I suspect it will be the second week in September. Until then, I'm trying to learn as much as I can from all of you. I'm somewhat anxious about the surgery, (moreso than the lifetime changes to diet). I don't care for hospitals, but I'm going through with this because I need to. Lots of co-morbidity issues here, so I'm also looking forward to a much healthier life. Please let me know your thoughts about the procedure, how you felt when you came to afterwards, and the days thereafter. I'd like to hear it from people who've had the surgery, what I can reasonably expect to feel when I awake. Regards, Kevin
