  1. I'm at 5 weeks and solids are hit-or-miss but always disturbing. I have been in real pain with some, and also the food tends to shoot back up into my throat (not my mouth, but close). I went to the doctor for this because I was really worried that this was how my life was going to be...awful! He said that this problem wasn't usual, but it is fairly common, and that it typically resolves by 3 months out or sooner. The longest he's seen is 9 months. What I've found is that I need to take really, really small bites and go very slowly. I really hope that is not a lifelong thing - I know I can't wolf food down like I used to, but I would hope a small but "normal" bite would eventually work. The really tiny bites that get chewed to mush end up not tasting very good anyway. One food I did find that works - shredded ham (or honey ham) from the store deli - I ask for the meat "shredded" which makes it very flaky and pretty easy to eat. I'd rather get protein from food rather than shakes, so I feel good about that. I'm sure turkey or maybe even roast beef would work as well, and at least there's some flavor and it tastes good even after being chewed to death!
  2. Tomorrow (Thurs) at noon is my surgery. Good luck to all and I'll post how it went.
  3. Note to IMLooznit - I am sure you have good intentions, but in my opinion, it doesn't help to get your messages full of "screaming" caps, admonishments, and shouted directions, all supposing "bad" behavior from people that you don't know. I am glad you were successful in your weight loss journey. Please leave others to find their own paths unless they specifically ask for help. I believe most members of this site understand the behavior changes that are needed. Sometimes (and hopefully most times) good decisions are made, but everyone is human. Success will look differently to many people as well. I believe this forum should be for useful information, moral support, friendship and perhaps gentle guidance and suggestions, not for shrieking mandates.
  4. My surgery date is 9/26, but just found out less than two weeks ago that my insurance now will NOT cover it, so I'll have to go private pay - $14K ouch!!. Very difficult. In addition, I'm having a chronic lump in my throat, been there for about the same time - stress? but I need to have it checked out. I am having to cash in almost all I have to do this...I believe that it will make life better, but it's still a hard choice. I know so many people are so positive and wouldn't change a thing, and I guess this is the time I need to hear the good experiences on the blogs. Best to all you fellow SepSleeves!
  5. My date is Sep 26th...just got the date and I'm so relieved that all the insurance prep work is done. September will be here soon. Can't wait! I live in Colorado.
