    Just cant eat solids

It sounds ike a psychlogical block, try something that you thoroughly enjoyed b4 surgery, but only one or two very small bites, completely chewed up. I really hope you're able to get past this quickly, think of your health needs

    Swelling/fluids/pain

I only had that probem for a day; they gave me ice water and ice chips in the hospital and that helps with the inflamation initially. I can take in more than a sip now, more like a swig, without any problems. I set my timer for 5 minutes and take a drink of something; I alternate being sure to get enough protein in. I am on full liquids right now. I wouldn't say anything bad is going to happen, but you'll know if you drink too much at one time, you feel REALLY full when you do, and it hurts a bit; I wouldn't suggest more than 2 ounces at a time. Is this what your doc said?

    Pre-op diet

What shake are you drinking??? I didn't have that prob with the Premier shakes. And, why do you have to be on liquids so far in advance??? I only had to do liquids the day before; I drank Premier, Isopure, broth, Water, Jello, popsicles. The broth I drank was from egg flower Soup at my fav Chinese restaraunt... yum!

    Farting (lol)

I had my sleeve done on the 7th and it took AT LEAST 4 days for me to pass gas, and it was very little because liquids don't usually cause that kind of gas for me. However, since I'm on blenderized/strained foods now, I am constantly farting, but there is no scent... weird, but glad! LOL It's important because they pump your abdomin full of air during surgery and the air comes out when it is absorbed into your system. Burping is good enough, I say, this means it is making it's way out, just not out the way you would expect! Happy farting!
  7. Hi, make sure you get all of your required protein in each day. I would say that 11lbs is a lot, but may be "normal" for you, but once you start eating it may slow down so don't be surprised or discouraged. And, you are on track with your BM... lol
  8. You're doing a good job so far, I am in the same boat. A friend asked me out for lunch tomorrow, I'm just going to tell her that I had to have hiatal hernia surgery and have to stick to a strict diet for a while. It's realy no one's business what you do. Good luck to you!
  9. It gets a little better, I just make sure that the liquid is as far back in my throat as possible before I swallow, this prevents excess air going down. Your stomach is much smaller (and swollen right now) and doesn't have extra room for air; make each drink count!

    hungry after surgery

It's actually common, you can watch this video. This doctor is a good one to follow on YouTube. Hope this helps!
  12. Hi, I can totes relate! I had mine on the 7th and have had similar issues. I find that if I get up and go for a casual walk outside for only a few minutes, I feel better and am able to burp the excess air out that I managed to swallow when I drink; I feel somewhat relieved after. I have felt hungry, but to alliviate this, I take a large sip of the choc Premier Protein shake, and it will go away for a little while. I have also tried a few teaspoons of unsweetened applesauce or regular jello to help me out. When I see my family eating, I do sometimes want a bite, but then I remember that I did this for a reason, and that this liquid thing is only a temporary event; eventually we will be able to eat reguar foods again but in much smaller portions. All the foods we like will be there when we're able to eat them again, although some of them will not taste as good or go down the way they used to. I hope this helps and that you are abe to hang in there, don't get discouraged, this will all pass!
  13. Sorry you're not well. I would go see my PCP immediately if I were you, be safe not sorry! I truy hope you feel better quicky!

    Finally!

That's great news - Congratulations! I hope all goes well for you
  19. Scott ate in front of me last night, and I had no problems wanting his cheeseburger n fries! I am not craving anything, but my stomach growls even though I am getting plenty of Protein based fluids, it sucks!
  20. To tell you the truth, I am so sore inside that I can't feel if I'm full or not, I just sip fluids every 5-15 mins or so. If the doctor isn't worried, I would say that you shouldn't be either. Everybody is different and their bodies will react differently. Just keep trying small amounts of liquid and walk around the hospital if you are able to, it REALLY helped me; I did 16 laps in one day - It will help with the inflamation and gas! Has he started you on the antacid meds yet?
  21. Hi, I'm so sorry you are going through this! I hope they remedy it quickly!! I had mine on the 7th and came home yesterday; no issues. The surgeon is probably right, but I hope he didn't make your stomach too small, I've heard of this happening, especially if the patient stretched out the stomach prior to surgery. Did you over-do it a couple of days prior?
