I need the best Advice
Jammin & Losin replied to slimmer sue's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
The feelings you have are all normal. I remember those few days and sleepless nights before surgery and it is a tough time. Hang in there this is a life changing decision and you have every right to be nervous and excited all at the same time. Just tell your self Things will be okay and you will be in band land before you know it!!! This is just the begining of a whole new chapter in life for you and starting this journey is a wonderful thing. you will gain so much health from this and feel so much better just keep reminding your self of all the things you will get to do with all the new found energy once the weight is gone. Good positive thoughts will help you through this rough time and on to a better you.Good luck with your upcoming surgery and I hope you are able to sleep well tonight!!! -
So happy for you Patti You have done so good with your band !!! Congratulations on a new journey to a healthy you!!!!
-
Sounds like to me your friend isn't being very suportive and you should tell her that the band will help you get healthier and that matters to you more than what your legs look like. You have to make this decision for your self and you shouldn't let anyone say something that will change your mind. This is something you will be dealing with the rest of your life at that means you will need to do alot of reasearch and alot of soul searching to be sure this is what YOU want not what others want!!!!

Babs I'm so glad that something is starting to get better with all of this. I sure hope you will be able to get all that you are trying to get approved for!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!

2 Week Up Date Post op....
Jammin & Losin replied to Jammin & Losin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Donali~ Thanks for the advice and I will try to not get impatient. I just want to make sure I'm doing all I can to lose weight and I guess you can get really stuck on counting calories instead of paying more attention to eating the right things. This is the begining of my 4th week and so I should be proud that I've lost 11 pounds and I know it will keep coming off and at what pace doesn't really matter as long as it is still dropping!!!! Thanks Donali!!! -
Well it has been 2 weeks since I got banded and am feeling good! I'm down 10 pounds since surgery and I had lost 13 before surgery so I'm down 23 pounds in all!!! But have not lost any more in the last few days. I am starting to wonder if I'm eating enough I am trying to count my calories and I 'm only getting around 700 -800 a day! At this point how many calories should I be getting??I think I am not getting enough and my body is hanging on to every bite! Also I eat and get full pretty quick but I feel like I can eat a little more than 4 oz and then only a couple hours later I'm hungry again. I 'm sure that once I get a fill I will stay full longer. I go to Dr. on April 25th for check up and possible fill.So far I've had no problems with any food I've tried but I did get that stuck feeling on a piece of shaved turkey yesterday and it really hurt for a few minutes. It just didn't go down all the way. I took a deep breath and it felt like it went down after that, but I stoped eating and waited a while to be sure that stuck feeling was gone.I am being more careful and making sure that everything is mushy and not taking any more chances on getting that awful feeling again!! Also I'm getting in alot of water and eating at least 40-50 grams of protein each day! I feel like I'm on the right track but was wanting some suggestions on how much intake of calories is idea for me in the mushy stage???

2 Week Up Date Post op....
Jammin & Losin replied to Jammin & Losin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Donali I see what your saying it did kinda sound like I was saying a fill would help me eat less and I wasn't eating much already but I was still feeling hungry between meals and was keeping my self from eating for fear I was going to eat more than 4 oz at a time and it would come back up. So I would eat alittle bit but would be hungry for a while in between a meal. I wasn't able to eat alot at one time but I wasn't staying full very long there for I was hungry between meals and was paying so much attention to less calories that I think my body was in starvation mode. now that my stomach isn't swollen anymore I'm eating way more than I need to be eating and I'm just mantaining my lost weight right now. Does this make more since?? I think it was a matter I was scared to eat to much at one time. But I wasn't satisfied for very long and was entirely to hungry between meals. So now I'm up to more like 1200 calories which I hope is a better amount untill I get a fill.I feel more satisfied with this but I'm not losing weight I'm just stuck right now. I lost 10 pounds the first week and I've only lost 1 pound in the last 2 weeks. Thanks for being concerned !What should my calorie intact be at this time and also what will jump start weight lose if I'm aready eating less calories? i'm excsing about 3 days a week and I am going to start doing that everyday. I'm getting in my Protein and About 50 to 60 oz of water! Thanks for the help !Jamie -
Need Help, I feel like I'm "dieting" again!
Jammin & Losin replied to TraumaNurse's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I must say this thread is helping me. Like Zoe said weeks 4 -6 are hard and that is also were I am right now. I feel bad that I can eat more than I should be able to and that 3 hours later I'm hunry again. I sure hope after a fill it gets better and I know this next couple of weeks I probably won't lose any thing but if I just mantain what I've lost till I get a fill I will be on to the next chapter of being banded! To all of you at this stage in banding lets hang in there these trials are all part of making the positive changes and how we learn to be a good bandster! We can do this. -

Looking for Memphis,Tn LapBand talk
Jammin & Losin replied to MemphisLady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sandie this sounds nothing like the seminar I went to at Dr. Woodmans office. he was at the seminar as well as Cyndi and also both were very helpful with all details. He explained the band and how it worked had a band there with him and passed it around for all to see. yes Cyndi did warn me that until she checked with my ins company to be sure for me not to be suprised if they would want at least a 6 month supervised diet which they did end up needing for my band to be covered. I can tell you that my seminar helped answer alot of my questions and I was also able to talk to Dr. Woodman for a few minutes after the seminar and he answered a few questions for me then. I have had nothing but a good experience with everyone in his office and I would recomend him to everyone asking for a Dr. in the Memphis area. Does he have a good since of humor NO but his he a good surgeon very much so. I could care less if he makes me laugh when I go to his office... I just want him to know what hes doing and that I feel he does. he is very straight forward and will set you straight on what your not doing right with your band in a heart beat but to me that means he cares. he wants his patience to succeed or he would just say do what you want and eat what you want and if you lose then okay you lose...no he says you messed up now stop messing up and get back on that band wagon. I for one need someone that will keep me straight and doing all the bandster rules so we will get along just fine. He has done 2 surgeries for me and I think he is an excellent but straight forward surgeon! -
My Answers would be: #1 usually the first couple days after surgery is the worst.... each day gets better and better! I was really sore for several days but it really wasn't bad pain just really alot of sorness! Everyone is different and surgery effects them differently! #2 My Dr. gave me liquid Lortab. #3 I think that it depends on your Ins. Co. and there stipulations on Plastic surgery. Some Ins. co. will require it to be a medical necesity to get it paid for with Ins. ( rashes and other skin irritations under your stomach panel could be a good example of a medical condition that the extra skin is causing!) Showing this medical necessity might get a tummy tuck covered by ins. #4 Everyone heals at a different pace. I feel most people are okay to go back to work in just a few days depending on what type of job you do it could take a week or two to feel fully recovered. ( the first 2 or 3 days after surgery are the worst and you get better really quick after that.)You don't need to push your self to soon. taking a few extra days off work will help you rest up and heal quickier. Also remember it will be very hard going back to work while on liquids because everyone will be eating around you and that will make this phase harder to get through .( I stand on my feet alot and I took of 1 week and that was a good recovery period for me) Hope some of this helps answer your questions. Good luck with getting your band and remember we are always here to help. Jamie
