Because you guys are like family...
Jammin & Losin replied to Jonathan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jonathon Congrats on getting the job you always wanted. Sorry for the divorce but it looks like you are doing good concerning every area of your life. Continue to focus on your work for God and you will have great rewards some day!! -
Christina I'm thinking and praying for you today. Go get your band girl. You have waited long enough!!!
-
Mary Emily I'm not sure why your husband would say that. But I hope he realizes in time that this is a hard journey to get through without his suport. Maybe he will see things differently at a later date. You both should talk this out and see if you can figure out why he is just now being negative about your choice to have this surgery and why he feels the way he does. Just wanted to say that your weight lose is a great success and you should be very proud of your self we all are proud of you!!!!

Paula this is such a great NSV!!! Sounds like you enjoyed your new found health as well as enjoying life with your family!!

Wishing you luck on your surgery. Hope you get that leak fixed!!!

PattyAnn what day in March did you get your band. I was banded March 18th. Sorry you are having so much trouble losing. I hope your next fill will be the one that gives you the restriction you need. Good luck and if you need to talk just pm me okay! -

The weight loss coming to a screaching halt or slowing a few weeks after surgery is very typical. Until you get a fill you probably wont see alot of change in your weight. Or you might see some change but at a slower pace. Don't worry you are normal and you will do fine after a fill and your body is needing time to adjust to your new eating. I lost 10 pounds my first week after surgery and then sat still for 2 weeks after that. Then it took me 3 weeks to lose 3 pounds more. I got a fill and I started dropping 2 to 3 pounds per week and its being good and steady ever since! You will do fine!! Remember the first 6 weeks is a time for healing.. weight loss along the way is a geat bonus to the healing process.Am I seeing that right that you lost 22 pounds in a week??? I'd say thats some major weight loss in 1 week. Its no wonder your body is confused and in shock. 20 pounds is alot for your body to adjust too in such a short time. You have lost 240in all right? In like not even 3 weeks time? Thats a great weight loss. Nothing slow about that you should be proud of that !!! Way to go!

desertmom I weigh everyday. I like you, worry that even if I'm eating the right things that the pounds will sneak up on me without me realizing it.

Well I think if your ins co. covers both procedures band and GBP. It ultimately should be up to you which surgery you want to have. My dr. said I offer both... here are the pros and cons and I will not make the decision for you. You must feel comfortable with the one you choose. The band was my choice right from the start. The pros deffinatly out weighed the cons for me. I think the main thing the dr and ins wants to know is if your bmi is high enough/what comorbities you have... high blood pressure ect.. -
I did protein drinks the day of my fill along with other liquids.

This is a wonderful reminder that life is precious handle with care. Find time for life before life passes you by!!!

I know Terri it was really hard for me not to be scared at first. You have all these what ifs??? running through your head. You will feel so releved that its all over and you will be recovered and back to normal life real soon. The first 6 weeks is the hardest. Going through the food stages and all but it does get better and when you see the pounds coming off you will see that the band will help you lose the weight and you will be so thrilled you went through with getting banded!! Hang in there and remember your not alone you got all of us on LBT!!!!
-
Wow I'm sure thats gotta be something terible to go through. Please tell us more about your experience and also how your wife is doing in all this?
-
Not sure on that hot and sour soup thing. My Dr. did say to try and stay away from spicy stuff for a few weeks after surgery. he even said not to eat tomato soup or V8 juice because of the extra acid in them. Every Dr. is different and yours may tell you its okay. So I guess the best thing to do is ask your dr about eating spicy stuff and then make your decision on the soup.

Good luck withh your new band. I hope you have lots of success!!!

unable to eat much! is something wrong?
Jammin & Losin replied to Stacey1985's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Stacey you sound like a typical postop recovering bandster to me. It is very hard the first few days and then you start seeing improvements each day. the best advice is to sip, sip, sip, on small amounts of water and other clear liquids all day. My dr. said try for at least 3 oz an hour to keep hydrated more if you feel you can. Deffinatly use the heating pad. I slept in the recliner for 1 week with the heating pad so it could take a few more days before your feeling a little better.Remember every step of the way is a learning experience and you will hit obsticals but be patient and keep reaching for your goal and you will get closer every day to getting your health back. -

Magnoliamiss~ It's only natural to be scared and worried. Believe me I was too! I must say though I'm only a little over 2 months post op and I love my band!!! I think you are making the best decision you could ever make. I live in Byhalia Ms. Which is about 20 miles from Memphis Tn. How far is Laurel from here? We should try and meet some time. I know of 2 bandsters that live in the same area I do that post on LBT. We might have to make us a Magnolia bandster bash!!! L Good luck on getting your band and let us know how you are after surgery!!! l
