  1. Thanks! I was trying not to call until later today. Then I went and checked the mail and there it was From here I have to wait until they receive the approval in financing, they have to bring my file up to my doctor's office and the scheduler will take it from there. If I don't here from them by Wednesday I'm going to start calling. Hopefully you'll have your answer (approval) early tomorrow. I'm sending out positive thoughts for you:) What are you doing in the mean time? Are you doing shakes or still following your diet?
  2. I finally got my approval, yeah! They took the whole fifteen days. Now I have to wait for my doctors office:(. Hang in there ladies!

    Gummy Vitamins?

Yep! My NUT say's absolutely NO! I had to go and get the wafer type.
  4. We should not have to put this much energy into "too tell or not too tell". Most of us have lived our whole lives making decisions based upon how we think others will react. For me, its time for all of that too stop. I'm 40, a wife, a mother, a four year cancer survivor, overweight with health issues and trying to reteach myself the right way to eat and live. That's enough on my, now smaller, plate. I have told my immediate family. I also told my short list of friends and associates that I see on regular basis. For me I would hope that they first of all would respect my decision. I also don't want anyone freaking out and thinking that I'm losing weight because my cancer is back. (God forbid) When it comes down to it I'll tell anyone who ask. If by sharing my journey touches one person and it help them then its worth it. For anyone I come across who has an issue with my having surgery to get healthy. They can join the "Whatever" list that I've had since I was the husky girl in elementary school.
  5. Oh my, I didn't even think about the end of the year and the holiday's. I'll be putting out some prayers that we all get squeezed in before the doctors take off to the Islands. Well ladies, what are we going to do over the weekend to keep our minds off of this? For me it'll be trying not to stress eat. Monday will be my 15th business day. I can literally hear the clock....tick tock tick tock:)
  6. "Brains being sucked out" LOL! How appropriate for today. Yeah, I can't wear mine when my sinuses are acting up. I understand the hubby being gone. My husband works on the railroad. US railroad wives call ourselves single moms with benefits. How many more days do you have to go? UHC policy is15 days, I have 4 to go. Sigh: (
  7. Thanks and likewise! Did they give you a CPAP machine for your sleep apnea? I was diagnosed with sleep apnea in February and have a CPAP machine. I'm hating it. A lot of people say that I'll get use to it, but no. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for it. I didn't have any other health issues besides being obese and borderline diabetic. With my BMI and sleep apnea UHC will cover my VSG 100%. Thank the lord for little miracles. But the waiting is exhausting. Every time I get an email on my phone I'm hoping its my coordinator. Maybe tomorrow!
  8. You are not alone! I'm waiting on United Healthcare. My paperwork was submitted on the 14th of October. I'm trying not to blow up my coordinators phone. (She is a very sweet and caring lady) Same here, nothing yet: ( They have 15 days, which puts me at November 4th. But I need to know already! Praying for patience.

    the big "C"

I'm here too! I am four years cancer free. I was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2009. Three days before my sons first birthday. I went through aggressive radiation and chemo. We had to go to a fertility specialist to conceive our son Ty. Not knowing that I would end up with cancer and no can't have anymore kids. It's only by the grace of God. I'm still awaiting my approval from UHC. I am a journey to renew myself, again!

    Waiting is driving me crazy!

Tick Tick Tick Tick Tick......... My last appt. was on October 11th. I have United Healthcare. My coordinator said they have 15 days to review my file. 15 days:( I'm trying not too dwell on it. I'm a stay-at-home mom/wife as well. It's tuff. At this point six months ago I would have raided the pantry (my sons snacks) . Come on already!

    I KNEW IT! :p

That must also apply to" Crispy Cream Donuts". I've always said it was like crack. Better add an ice cold fountain Coke with crunchy ice with that list for me.
  16. Does anyone else get this comment, "You don't look like you need to loose weight"? I am 5 9", 264 pounds (down from 289) with a BMI of 38.5 and wear a size 22. Whenever I talk about me loosing weight that is the response I get. I can't imagine what they would say if I mentioned me having the VSG. Is it me or has this society we live in gone that astray? Maybe people are being sarcastic or just feel bad and don't want too hurt my feelings. Either way I'm tired of hearing it.
  17. I'm the same way. It just started six years ago. Now I make sure that I put that I'm allergic to tape on my forms. All my previous procedures they've used paper tape. No swelling and no itching.
  18. Your all right! Goodness, I never realized how much mental work this journey would require. I thought that I wouldn't need to go to support group. But now I'm second guessing that.
  19. I'll have to let my husband read this one. He seems to think that I'll never be able to eat again:) So from what your saying is that I'll be a cheap date? Thanks and enjoy your husband and vacation!!!

    1st time Resturant post op

Way to go and thanks for sharing your story. I'm still awaiting my approval but things like this do worry me. I have never realized how much I base everything I do around eating. Now I have to retrain 40 years worth of damage. Keep on being strong!

    I have a DATTTTEEEEE! 11/4

I know that you are all smiles!!! I'm in that dreadful waiting for an approval period. Congrats!
  22. Thank you ladies! Your right, I've came this far to crumble now. I can tell that I've changed. Last year if I was stressed I would have turned to my pantry. Now I turn to yard work.
  23. Hi everyone! This is more of a prayer for continuing patience. On October 2nd I turned 40 years old, Yeah!!! I am a wife of six years and a stay-at-home mom of a five year old boy, Ty. I am also a proud Cancer Survivor of four years this month. I have been dealing with my weight from the beginning. Starting off as a 10 pound baby to being labeled a "Husky" kid. My HW this year was 289, my CW is 263 and I'm 5 9". I have been contemplating this surgery for two years. I have sleep apnea and border line diabetic. I have finally completed my long 6 month supervised physician diet, psych evaluation, NUT visits and every test they threw at me. My last visit was on October 11th. Now the dreadful wait. I have already called my nurse coordinator at UHC to verify that I have completed everything. Up till this point I haven't had any major issues. I have given up the pop, the straws, my chocolate, eating off of small saucers, almost of all the carbs (I have my week moments), and get in my exercise. But this waiting for an approval or denial is killing me softly. How did you make it through?
