I was sleeved on 09/18 and I've lost 21 pounds. Have been in a bit of a stall for the past 10 days but I'm still pleased with my weight loss so far. Tried cottage cheese, which I love, and it made me ill. Same with eggs. I can eat string cheese, any kind of yoghurt, applesauce, soup, the odd protein shake. Invested in a box of protein bars and only managed to eat half of one as they are huge. Been having diarrhoea off and on, but I'm not sure if this is related to my sleeve as a few people have been off in my work. Been sick a few times but this has been mainly due to me drinking too quickly. It is mainly trial and error just now. No problem with my incisions and my stitches were out after 10 days. My doctor has already dropped 2 of my 4 blood pressure pills. I go back to see him on Wednesday and we'll see what my BP is like then. This has been the best decision of my life and I don't regret it one bit.

Have had a few episodes of diarrhoea but I think that comes from trying to eat too much at one sitting. Old habits die hard! Strangely enough I feel at my best when I don't eat. Protein has been a bit of a no-no with me. I can eat potatoes. However I feel really good. I have so much more energy. I can now walk up the two short flights of stairs to my apartment and not be out of breath. I have already stopped two of my four blood pressure pills. My ankles are no longer 'cankles' which is a major bonus! This op for me has been a lifesaver. I wouldn't change it for the world.

Nope, have been taking it easy. Liquidised home made soup, yoghurts, crackerbread with Philly light, fruit juice, V8 juice, the occasional protein drink and water. I'm not good at consuming my proteins and getting enough water. Before my op I did drink a lot of water but now I find it so hard just to sip.

I live in Falkirk, a town halfway between Glasgow and Edinburgh. The NHS wouldn't do my surgery because I did not have diabetes. So I paid privately and went to a clinic in France. I consider this to be the best money I've ever spent and don't regret it one bit.

I'm with you all the way Lady in Red. I was sleeved on 09/18 and have lost 17 pounds since surgery. Have just updated my ticker to find that my BMI has finally come out of the 60s and into the 50s. I just want to shout it from the rooftops! Woohoo!

I was sleeved on 09/18 and to date I've lost 17 pounds. However I expected to put on weight as so many other people have previously. I am over the moon and you should be too. Any weight loss after major surgery is a huge bonus. Remember this is enforced portion control for life. The doctor does his job but the rest is up to you. Go for it girl and take the losses when they come.

I am 9 days post op. Occasionally I have had a pain in my left side but I put it down to still having a bit of gas left. Certainly when I have burped it has eased off. Last night in bed (thank god I do not have a significant other!) I burped the whole night long. But then again I haven't been managing a lot of food so maybe it is wind from a very empty tummy. Having said all that I had a BM this morning and felt better. However I feel on top of the world and cannot stop smiling to myself. Maybe I'm just crazyeeeeeee!

I too am more or less new to this site and to the sleeved community. I was sleeved on 18 September. The only people I told were my sister and my son. My best friend came with me, so she knows. I've taken a two week vacation from work and go back on 1 October. You are NOT doing a crazy, insane thing. For a lot of us this is a lifesaver of an op. No more medication, money saved in the long term, you will be able to exercise, go on walks, go to the shops - whatever you are not doing just now you will be able to do after your op. Forget about the skinnies of this world. They don't understand. They seem to think that we all get to our size by eating like pigs every moment of the day. No, instead you put on say 7 pounds and think, oh I'll deal with that next year. Next year comes, same thing again. You have a family, money worries, job problems. Wham! Before you know it you've gained 70, 80, 90 pounds. How did that happen? I'm 61(whoops I never reveal my age) and I've used part of my retiral money to fund my op. Look at my stats and I bet you are nowhere near my weight. Think again of the reasons of why you want to do this op. I am so excited about my future and I have a list of things I want to do and do you know what? Nobody or nothing is going to stop me.

Sleeve surgery for me tomorrow and I'm alternatively scared witless and excited. Had my endoscopy today. Wasn't pleasant but it had to be done.

I was sleeved on 18 September. Fine post op. Had the day from hell on 19 September as they couldn't get a needle into my veins correctly. So didn't have enough pain relief that day and was miserable. Eventually sorted out tea time. Couldn't sleep in the hospital so was in and out of my bed continuously. I think this helped with the gas as I haven't been bothered with it. Friday went for my barium meal which was ok. No problems. Discharged back to my hotel. Better at hotel. Saturday morning nurse came, gave me my shot, checked my dressings and sais I could go home. Flew back to Scotland on Saturday at tea time and finally managed to sleep in my own bed. Had about 5 tablespoons of soup. Mine is home made vegetable which I liquidisers and put small amounts into freezer bags and froze them I must have about 30 in my freezer. I can also take small amounts of yogurt maybe 3 teaspoonfuls. Also had a protein shake. This morning I got up and feel on top of the world. Have even managed to unpack my case and put a washing on. Melissa 0158 I'm like you. Ready for the journey ahead and glad I went through it. Bring it on!

Had my surgery 18 September. Everything went well although I seemed to spend a long time in the recovery room. Thursday was a day from hell. Well that's me had my surgery. Had a bit of a nightmare yesterday over pain medication but I'm over it now.

Aggie1234 - gastroscope is tube down your throat to check your stomach is ok for surgery. I didn't know they would do that and now I'm wondering have others had it? Just another one of these things that has to be done. C'est la vie, as they say in France.

Have just weighed in at 166 kilos. Have lost 7 and 1/2 kilos pre op. Had all my tests, blood, more blood, blood pressure, weight, height and ECG. Have to go tomorrow for gastroscopy then surgery on Wednesday.

£5350 which is about $7000. I consider it money well spent. In the Uk it would have cost me more than double. Could not get the op through our own health system because my doctor said I didn't have diabetes. Which is crazy because I have asthma and high blood pressure and have to lose 200 pounds. How much worse do you have to get?

Am having my op in France. I am self funding. Cost of op is £5350 and the surgeon is Dr Bokobza in Le Havre. Cost of op in UK would have been more than double so I consider this to be money well spent. Wasn't suitable for band as I had a hernia op four years ago.

Well arrived in France safe and sound yesterday. Now just waiting to go to the hospital for my blood tests, etc. dreadful night last night. Mainly due to my friend Susan's horrendous snoring!! I may well be taking her home in a body bag!! Will keep you all posted.

Hello, I'm from Falkirk and currently in France. I go for my sleeve op on Wednesday. Just waiting just now to go to the hospital for my tests. Am so worried that it might be cancelled at the last moment.

Hello Diana49 I use Wellesse liquid. 33 daily servings. I get it from BJs. It consists of 2000 mg glucosamine, 1200 mg chrondroitin and 500 mg msm. Can't remember what it costs, but go on their website. They may deliver as well. There also might be a Wellesse website. Biggest bargain I did get was in a Walgreens store. They had a sale on. It was smaller bottles of liquid glucosamine but they were only $3 a bottle. What a bargain. I took all six of them!

Also I originally wanted a band however because I had had a hernia operation about four years ago, this made me unsuitable for the band. Quite happy though now to go for the sleeve.

Lesley1958 I live in Scotland. Far too dear in the UK for sleeve op so did my research and France was less than half the UK price. My other choice would have been Mexico but I wouldn't have had any aftercare. The hospital is in Le Havre.
