    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

It has been cold and snowing/raining in NJ so I have been to the gym. Only thing I'm cleared to do is walk but it feels better than the freezing cold;)

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

For a few days and then it goes away. It only comes back if I drink something too cold or take too big a sip!

    Andrew Post Op

My pain was ok. I stopped my pain meds except at night in day 2 or 3. I had a temp of 100 the night of surgery when I left the hospital and it stayed elevates for a few days. The doc said it was normal and happens from the shock of the the surgery, the anesthesia, not breathing deep enough, and not being as active as we normally are. I took liquid Tylenol to bring it down at times. Did u get an incentive spirometer to practice taking deep breaths? If u did use that, some people said that helped being the temp down. Good luck!
  5. I was sleeved 12/2. That spasm you feel when u r drinking should go away. I had it for 2-3 days. First sip was usually ok it was the 2nd that I felt that spasm. Try playing around with temperatures of what u r drinking too. I found that warm went down easier at first. Cold gave me a spasm right away but seems ok now. It will get better good luck and happy healing!!!!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I feel like I could have gone back to work today but thankfully I took 3 weeks off. I have been working like crazy lately and I wanted to give myself plenty of time to heal ( and maybe get my Xmas shopping done...lol).

I bought the Syntrax samples too. BJ's bariatrics lets you pick the flavors you want. I made a shake this morning with cappucino flavor, 1 cup cold decaf, a few teaspoons of sf caramel syrup and a handful of ice cubes. It was pretty good. The smell of the protein as soon as I add liquid to it kills me! I am going to try so unflavored in my crystal light tomorrow and see how that goes!

    Driving Right After Surgery?

I was sleeved mon 12/2 and started driving on Fri! Actually did really feel any limitations at all. My discharge instructions were 24-72 hours as long as u were not on pain meds:)

    Post Op Day 2

I too still feel bloated. I have had a slight fever 99-100 since I left hospital on Monday. Finally freaked enough to call the doctor and he said it is fairly common. I'm not drinking enough and probably not as active as usual or using my incentive spirometer enough.

    Post Op Day 2

Had thinned out cream of wheat and a lite protein shake. So far so good!!!

    Post Op Day 2

My surgery was Monday and I feel the same way. First sip is ok but 2nd is painful. Curious to see what happens as a start protein and other liquids this afternoon. Glad to here others are experiencing the same thing!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Sorry you have gotten negative feedback! have told my family, closest friends and fellow supervisors where I work. Nothing but support. Lots of questions too! I supervise a department of 13 people and I was not comfortable telling them. It was a very personal decision. They are younger then me, skinny, and gossipy besides I'm just not close to any of them so I felt they did not need to know. All they know is I am having a medical procedure and I will be out for a few weeks. They will be able to figure it out! Outside of work I have been very open about it!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Pleas add me to the list! Surgery date 12/2 at JFK medical center in Edison, nj with dr. Abkin!!! So excited. Final pre-op class tomorrow and then just waiting! I'm so anxious (in a good way)...it has been scheduled since August! I just want to move on! Sick of being so heavy! I'm 5'4 300. Would I love to be around 150 (not sure how realistic that is)! So happy to meet so many great and inspiring people on here!
