I am on day two of my pre-op diet, and am doing ok. But it must be making me insane. My surgery will be on Aug 20, and this weekend we decided that we are moving!!! Yes, I know it is kind of sudden, but it is something we have been thinking about for awhile now. We found a house we like and in the area we were looking.....and have decided now is as good a time as any......in spite of my surgery in two weeks!!! I am insane I think........

GREAT!!!! Home from the hosptial...walked twice, hit the grocery store, showered, dressing change, POOPED!!, fresh jammies on and planning on sipping my way through the evening shows. Tolerating my family eating spaghetti that is starting to smell a little good, but not hungry, so I"m not worried. How bout you?

ok...had to share with people who get it.....I managed two walks including a trip to the grocery, I managed half a protein shake and half a gatorade so far today after sleeping till 11am. I managed to POOP!!! only three days post op!!! and I showered and have a clean dressing and clean jammies......pretty proud of me today

I'm back!! surgery went really well, I'm home and doing really good. Slept for about 13 hours last night, but am so glad to be with my family. First day out of surgery was tough, but I think it was mostly the morphine...once I stopped that silly stuff I have felt so much better.....sipping away on my fluids and working toward my first walk of the day..... So happy to be on this side of the table!!!!!

so you are getting to be a pro!!! How are you feeling almost two months out?

How long since your surgery?

I guess maybe I am one with just a few things going on...I'm on bp meds, and just started Lipitor for cholesterol. I have pretty severe RA tho and am on Cimzia injections along with the methotrexate. My Rheumatologist is hoping that this surgery will at least take some of the stress off the joints and maybe make my meds work better.......

My surgery is Tuesday....sounds like we will be battling together!! Keep us posted on your progress!!

definitely not. First shot after surgery will be the week of the 8th of September. Just praying the move goes smoothly and that like the last time I had surgery since RA my immune system decides to do what it's supposed to do and give me a break with these symptoms. I upped my calories today as well, and am feeling some better....so we can always hope!!

I do definitely have those symptoms before/during a flare and if I'm off my meds(like now) I can barely make it off the couch. This is bad for me right now as I am moving Labor day weekend. When can you go back on your meds?

I'm the 20th too....excited and ready to be on the other side here.

While I have not had my sleeve yet, I do have to say this is where I would start before a revision....changing the type of tool isn't going to fix the drive to eat out of head hunger. I know in advance that a big part of my problem will be mental, and I have started with a new therapist to help me with those issues. Good luck with your decision

Maybe it's the "cause" behind the reflux....My surgeon was adamant at my pre-op appointment that he was going RNY because of my extremely large para-esophogeal hernia. we sat down and discussed it and he agreed to go ahead and try the sleeve as we can't go back after a rny.....but I have med issues that won't work well with a rny.

I do have to say my Rheumatologist preferred the band to the other options....my surgeon preferred the rny....I made them both compromise. While I will never be able to use nsaids again, I will be able to continue on my steroids, which the surgeon said would be a definite no no after a rny......so we will see......one day at a time.

My Rheumatologist was actually the one who started the surgery process for me. He suggested the same things Gamergirl's did about the less stress on the joints ect. Mine is also hoping it will help me with the fatigue. One week from today is my day and I am counting it down......

I'm feeling the lack of meds, but I was off mine most of the summer because of having shingles this summer......so ouchy here. gonna take my pain pills up to the night before.....

thanks for this post....I am one week down on the full liquids before my surgery next Tuesday....I did talk to my bestie whose MIL was living with them during the preop phase of her WLS. She did remind me that I probably am not eating enough right now as I haven't had my surgery yet, and that has helped. So has hearing what you all have had to say....thanks so much!!

Just checking in to see how all of you are doing today....you've been on my mind......

Yeah yeah...I really would like to ask him...but the day after my last appointment, he quit the practice and none of the other dr's in the practice are going to cover his patients. Prednisone wasn't on my sugeon's list of no no's, but I think I will call his office tomorrow and ask. My RD is opening an new practice, but not seeing patients yet. Kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place. Thanks tho....

I think you are a bit more insane than me.....You take the cake....oh wait, no cake. We will be sleeve buddies!!!!! YEA!!!

I have a question....did any of you have to go off of your prednisone before surgery? I am in the middle of a huge flare and really could use just a touch of pred to get me over it. I don't want to be as miserable as I am now going into my surgery. Any thoughts? Help!!
