The first fill has to be done at hospital under xray and my surgeon is so busy they are having trouble scheduling the time. The last few days I have been eating way more than I ever have and feeling really down. I gained 2 pounds....Is this bandster hell???? I have kept up with my exercise and spent a hour at the gym today and burned 650 calories in an hour. I hope I get my fill soon and get back on track...I hope it won't take too long. On the bright side.. Congrats to all the November Nymphs. Keep up the grat work friends! Barb __________________

  9. I was banded Nov. 26th and have lost 17 pounds so far. I have been staying at the same weight back and forth by 2 pounds for the last week. I exercise every other day and usually burn between 500-700 calories in an hour. I feel like I can eat bigger and bigger amounts and am starting to get that devil in my head that says "you are going to screw this up". I know I am eating less than I used to but it seems like I can eat alot! My Doc does not do the first fill till around 8 weeks after surgery so I have to wait till the end of January. My questions are..How many calories are most folks eating a day? and do folks record their food intake every day.? I have found when I don't write it down I tend to go over the 1000-1200 calories a day. Also do folks see a counsellor to help with the "issues" around food. I think maybe a counsellor would be a big help as lately all I think about is food, loosing weight and what I will eat next. Anybody else feel this way too?Any comments, suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Barb

November Nymphs Lets Talk Weight Loss!

Hi and congrats to all you amazing November bandsters! I had my surgery Nov 26th and am down 15 pounds. Christmas has me out of my exercise routine and there are way too many goodies around. I'm trying to just take it one day at a time. First fill is not set till around the end of January. I will be very ready for it I am sure. It sure is wonderful to see the scale going down instead of up for the first time in a long time!!! Keep up the great work everyone! Barb

    banded and no restrictions

Hi IndioGirl Thanks for your response. Yes I know it seems weird for me to be eating salad at 2 weeks but my Doc does not have his patients on a liquid diet after lap band surgery. I was on liquid/mushies for the first week and now I try all kinds of healthy stuff I just chew the heck out of it. I am feeling hungry after about 3 hours which I guess is normal. The liquid stuff does not keep me full. It sure is a big learning curve. Remembering to eat slowly and tiny pieces. I think if I was on a liquid diet I would eat my own hand!!! I don't know how you folks manage to do it !! Hats off to ya!!! The food addict in me keeps calling and I am trying to remain focussed and stay the heck out of the kitchen!! You are all such great help and support.

    banded and no restrictions

I had half cup fish, half cup cottage cheese, half cup salad and could have eaten more but didn't. I am staying under 900 calories and burn about 400-500 calories at the gym every other day. I was only banded 2 weeks ago and worry that i have stretched my pouch. Is this normal? Seems I can eat alot! Can't have my first fill till almost end of January. Any info or advise woulld be appreciated. Barb
  15. The stiches are placed away from the buckle of the band but I would imagine it does move around in there. I think once it settles into the grove of your stomach it doesn't move around too much. I know surgeons are very careful about how exactly it is placed in the stomach. The article was really interesting. I would like to know more about the different surgical techniques and outcomes.
  16. I had the midband and my Doctor did the posterior and anterior stiching to help prevent slips.
  17. Well it is now day 4 since surgery and I feel really good. sleeping better and spacing out the tylenol longer than every 4 hours now. I feel very unsure of what to eat as I don't really feel any hunger. I have sf popsicles, sf Jello, Water, 1 Protein drink made with 1% milk and yesterday I had a very mashed egg. I had some pain after the egg so will stick to liquid mushies. No nausea though. I am so happy with my decision. I am so excited to get back to the gym and start this journey. I hope all of you are feeling well. Please lets keep in touch as it is so helpful to share this experience with others who know what you are going through both physically and mentally. Hugs, Barb

    Pain ?

Hi Peaches, I had 1/4 cup frozen mixed veggies (tiny cubes) and 2 ounces white fish. Chewed till it was pretty much liquid but i felt very hungry and ate it too fast then had 1/4 cup butternut squash soup. It was all very low calorie but if I had waited I would have realized I was very full and not touched the soup. STUPID stupid stupid! I did not vomit or feel nauseated just unconfortable tightness. It is considered the "puree"" stage in the Weightloss Surgery for for dummies book and that is what my diet will be for 4 weeks. Every doc is so different I find it really confusing. Feeling good today and sticking to the easiest Pureed food ie: cottage cheese, sf applesauce, soups. Hope I haven't screwed things up.

    Pain ?

I was banded on the 26th. I tried to stop taking meds yesterday but woke up last night and tried to get comfy...terrible port pain. It's almost like the swelling is going down and it's pulling on the port site. I decided to stay on the tylenol for another day...2 every 5 hours or so. Still using Gas X as it sees to help keep things moving. My energy is slowly coming back and I seem to be getting about 750 calories in a day. Each day gets a little better. I am glad I still have 1 more week off to adjust to the band and get my energy back. I have to wait till the end of January to get my first fill. I had too much last night to eat and felt pain for about an hour. I am on a big learning curve. I am measuring everything now..no eyeballing!! Hope you are all doing ok. Keep in touch Barb

    banded on nov.26

Hi Crazy, We are band date twins! Maybe a protein drink would help fill you up blended with a quarter or half of a frozen banana?? I know protein does help keep you full and also helps with your healing. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing. Take care Barb

How are you 26th bandsters doing?

Hi Pierre and Hungryforchange Sounds like we are all slowly coming along. I had a good nights sleep last night. What a difference taht makes!!! Slept on my side and it felt great once I finally got in a comfy position. I noticed that some of the swelling has gone down too. Port site is still really tender though and sometimes if I have been up for too long it really hurts. Good sign to go sit and park it for a while. Take good care and keep in touch. Barb

    I got my band- yesterday

Michelle, I hear you girl!! I can't believe how many times I have walked into the kitchen to "cruise". I am not hungry I have no need to be in there. I am making a very deliberate effort to eat only what I am suppose to and start to re-train my brain. I feel the hardest part will be the emotional aspect of dealing with my food addiction. I have done well with my exercise and am committed to eating healthy for the REST OF MY LIFE. I need to remind myself one day at a time and if that seems too hard then one hour or minute at a time. It's the self talk...sort of like the devil /angel in my head. I want to replace the negative thoughts about eating. We can so do this Michelle. One day at a time. Take care. Barb

    Don't know what to eat

Wow Transformer thanks for all the info. I found it really helpful. I like your way of thinking. I too realize I have to re-train my brain when it comes to food. I think that will be the most challenging part of this journey. Congrats on the 65 lb weight loss!!! Do you use your protein shakes as a meal or do you count them as a snack? Thanks, Barb
