    DFW sleevers?

Awesome! So was Victory. I'm still on full liquids too and have had very few hiccups. I tried to take the Vitamins and they made me sick so the PA told me to wait until I start eating purees to try again.

    DFW sleevers?

Count me in! I had my surgery on 9/10/13 by Dr. Kim at Victory Medical Center in Hurst. How are things going so far?
  3. Your post-op plan is way different than mine. But you're 3 days out so I wouldn't push it too much. Soft foods on my plan is blenderized foods (with proteins being most important). I had my VSG on the 10th and I won't be able to have pureed foods until 10/1. Have protein shakes in between meals to get your protein in.
  4. This is exactly the reason BOTH my wife and I did it. We have a three year old daughter and both of us are on our way to not being in her life for the long haul. For us it was a risk vs reward situation and the reward outweighed the risks. Also, the odds of kicking off with all these co-morbidities was way higher than the relatively low risk VSG. We certainly didn't take the decision lightly, but we knew we made the right call
  5. You'll do great! Just keep in mind that the stomach you have now has gotten you where you are. You new stomach (and the resulting weight loss) will open up all kinds of new (or old) opportunities to enjoy life. I had surgery 6 days ago and the worst part was the gas pains (and getting myself to rest). As long as you have confidence in your doctor everything will be fine.
  6. Hello all, I had my VSG on the 10th so I'm now 6 days out. Feeling pretty good! Still sore as I wasn't a good patient and did too much activity on day 3 post-op. For those of you who have yet to have surgery...make sure you rest and allow yourself to recover. I was swollen an sore for a good two days because I didn't rest much. Also, I am now 3.0 hours past drinking 2/3 of a bottle of isopure. My stomach is growling and I feel hungry, am I? I tolerated phase 1 clear liquids just fine so I've decided to move on to phase 2.

    Pre-op diet and diabetes

I haven't had any trouble really. I was even told to continue with my metformin (1000mg/1x day). Of course I'm a horrible diabetic who doesn't check my blood sugar

    September 2013 Sleevers :)

9/10 here! Ready to get the show on the road!
  9. My surgery is next Tuesday, September 10th. I am officially on my liquid diet now. I did this with my wife while she was on hers a month ago so I'm no stranger to liquids. Still....I'M HUNGRY!

    Introduction

Hey guys, I just wanted to introduce myself. I love forums so I plan on being pretty active in this one. My name is Justin and I live in Fort Worth, TX. My wife and I will be doing this together. Her surgery is scheduled for 8/13/13 and mine is 9/10/13. She is currently on the one-week liquid diet so I'm doing it with her for support. It's actually going pretty well so far. We practiced off and on for a couple weeks ahead of time so we could get a handle on how we would react. I'm looking forward to this journey so I can enjoy the things I no longer have the energy to do. In fact, I'm thinking about putting my "can" list in this thread as a reminder to myself why I am going through with this. Thanks for reading, Justin

    Any husband and wife sleevers?

Hi all, my wife and I are also getting sleeved together. My wife is scheduled for 8/13 and I am scheduled for 9/10. We're really looking forward to our new journey. We already have a great marriage and I know this will bring us even closer. Good luck everyone! And to those of you who have already been sleeved...keep up the good work!
