Cheating during Post Op
lilijo replied to home3253's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Allowing your sleeve sufficient time to heal is very critical for success. You're eating things that can get into the suture line and cause a leak. Yikes! Please be careful and take it slow. Your life might depend on it! -
Good for you for catching the problem before it got too bad!

Pills...crush or just swallow?
lilijo replied to bluesclues's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to crush pills and open capsules for 6 weeks. I mixed them with grape juice which helped mask some of those awful tastes. Good luck. Remember, it's only temporary. -
Hello, ladyrider! Congratulations on your journey to better health. I was on the liquid diet for 5 days before surgery and lost about 4 lbs. I was a low bmi, so I got off 'easy'. Let us know how things are going.

Good for you for getting a head start on things! I'm 65 and almost 9 months out. Lost 53 lbs and have passed my surgeon's goal. Only 1 pesky pound away from my goal! I love my sleeve and all it has helped me achieve. Good luck to you and be sure to let us know how you're doing!

Folks Who Have Had Complications
lilijo replied to Pegsinthewoods's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So sorry you've had so many problems. Praying you'll find a solution that allows you to have some normalcy in your life. Good luck to you. Let us know how you're doing. -
Congratulations! Remember, walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

You look amazing! Congrats!

I'm not very tech savvy, so I don't know if you see pic. The after is about 5-10 lbs ago but am too lazy to update. I still log my food and exercise in My Fitness Pal. Good luck. I'm sure you'll do great. It's actually easier for low bmi'ers. Even at my age (65) it's been pretty smooth.

I am 5'1" (almost) and weighed 184. I was sleeved 8 months ago and weighed 131 this morning. I could not have gotten here without the sleeve. I allowed myself to be talked out of surgery 2 years ago and wish I wouldn't have wasted that time. It's your decision to make -- not theirs. Good luck with your decision!

Consult with another surgeon. I was pretty weak for maybe the first month, but then felt better every day. At two months post op, I was walking all over Paris and Barcelona having the time of my life! We all recover at different speeds.

I also had a huge gout flare right after surgery. Like you found out, our old standby Indomethecin, is no longer an option. With the approval of my surgeon, I was prescribed Colcrys. It doesn't work as fast as Indomethecin, but it does help. I now take Uloric every day to prevent flares. Been pain free for 6 months. Surgery was 8 months ago. Good luck to you. Gout was a major setback for me, but all is good now. It will get better!

I went to Paris and Barcelona at two months out. No problems at all. Saved a lot of money on food!

How often do you step on the scale?
lilijo replied to Guerml95's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I weigh in every morning as suggested by my surgeon. It really helps me keep on track. -
Gout, A side effect from getting sleeved?
lilijo replied to par1959's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, I had the worst gout attack of my life after surgery. I haven't found any home remedies that work. I was prescribed colchrys which helped. I now take Uloric every day to reduce Uric acid levels and prevent future flares. Gout flares are common after any surgery, not just bariatric. Hope you find relief soon. -
8 hours to go... Am I crazy... update
lilijo replied to lambada's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wishing you a speedy recovery! I was also a low bmi (34.8) and have been very pleased with my decision. I was sleeved 8 months ago and have lost 51 lbs, surpassing my surgeon's goal. 3 lbs to go to reach my personal goal. Follow your doctor's orders and you'll do just fine! -

Am I the only one who kinda likes the gurgling tummy?
lilijo replied to Butterflyhigh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
8 months out and my sleeve still taks to me! -
Beautiful! Congratulations on your success.

65 here and almost 8 months out. I was a low BMI and have reached my surgeon's goal. Have lost 49 lbs and couldn't be happier. Weight loss was slow compared to some, but right for me. How's everyone doing with exercise? I've been walking 2miles per day, but really need to do more.

My grandmother lost 2/3 of her stomach to cancer when she was in her late 40's. She died at 88 and never had any issues related to her stomach.

October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!
lilijo replied to nik2nite's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
What a wonderfully successful group! October was a very good month! I started at 184 and currently weigh 135. Surgeon recommended 135 (was 130) as my goal weight when I saw him in January. I'm still hoping for 130, but won't be disappointed if I stay at 135. I am 65 and this was the best decision ever! Love my sleeve! -
Anyone look forward to protein shakes?
lilijo replied to Luvin_Life125's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 8 months out and still have a Premiere Protein shake for breakfast almost every day. I find it really helps me hit my protein goal for the day and the nutritionist said one a day is okay. -
help.high protein diet has caused gout....should i reduce my protein.
lilijo replied to hopeful2 be slim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry you're having gout pain. I'm back on Uloric and haven't had any more pain. Still eating and drinking lots of protein. I hope you get relief soon! -
