Ok Now I feel Like I'm working too
Seela replied to sdocforce's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I totally know what you mean. I walked a lot in the beginning but I haven't done much since. My kids and I are moving at the end of the month and our new apparent has a gym. I can't wait to get in there! -
I agree... why bring yourself down to that level? Doesn't that put you in the same category? Personally I find, for the most part, I try to fight the "meanness" with sugar sweetness. That usually throws people off and leaves them sputtering.

My surgeons plan has me going from 800 calories a day to 1200 calories a day at six months. First. .. how am I supposed to eat 1 1/2 times more than I'm eating now? Most days I struggle to get in the 800 calories. Second. .. 1200 calories sound closer to maintenance to me. Will I still lose weight eating this many calories this soon out? I don't know what to do.

That is so freaking awesome! !! Have a protein shake to celebrate! Lol

I personally had to increase to 80 oz or more to not feel dehtdrated. It's hard but it gets easier with time.

I have read a lot about hair loss and mine started about 3 1/3 months out. I've lost almost half the volume of my hair. What I haven't been able to find is how long the loss lasts. Any ideas?

And fiddleman ... there's actually quite a few. Try searching fitness challenges you will get a good idea of who is really serious

Hiccups are my mark for being full. I stop eating at the first hiccup. If I don't I'll regret it. I'm just over 5 months out

Surgery Timing and Other Questions
Seela replied to Sunnyskies2283's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First, every insurance situation and surgeon is different. I had no insurance waiting period and was approved in about a week but my surgeon didn't have an opening for months. Second. .. wls changes your anatomy so no matter what you "hear" elsewhere, you need to follow your surgeons eating plan to the letter. Really it's the only way to insure success. Good luck -
2 months ago I was horrified by my body. I didn't have loose skin so much as a lot of really loose saggy fat. With each little stall I've had my skin/fat has gotten tighter and tighter. It's almost completely gone now. I do have good genetics skin wise, but my point is to give it time. The first few months might seem terrible but it could get much better with time.

Is it Caffeine withdrawl?
Seela replied to eat4life's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Withdrawal of... caffeine, sugar, carbs, food, etc... it'll pass -
My big scar is raised and puffy, that runs in my family. If I ever have a bikini body I'll just tell people I was stabbed... they'll think I'm tough lol...

The Sleeve Gastrectomy and How and Why it can Fail (Surgery Current Research 2014 publication)
Seela replied to Escape_Pod's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Personally I'm sick of hearing about how the surgery failed. I'm sure it does happen once in a while but honestly most of the time when I see someone that's had great success with wls then "failed" it's because they just stopped following their plan. Plain and simple. As a hairstylist I see a lot of women that have had wls, mostly bypass, and probably 75% of them have major regain about 4 years later. They ALL have the exact same thing in common. .. they have all given up on their eating plan and exercise. It seems simple to me (simple in theory not practice)... stay on your plan and remain successful. I think it is entirely unfair to say the surgery or procedure is a failure when if one "simply" (lol) continues to follow their plan it would not fail. We all are told in the beginning that this surgery requires a lifelong commitment and if we choose not to abide by those guidelines then the surgery has NOT failed, the patient has. I'm only just over 5 months out and I can already see how difficult it will be in the future, but if I end up regaining my weight (which I won't ) I will have nothing to blame but myself. -
It's well worth the wait. Good luck to both of you. On to smaller and better things!

Hello everyone....had complications
Seela replied to paj92434's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ahhh... im so sorry you are experiencing so many difficulties. Just know that a couple months from now they will be a great and inspiring story with which you can help others. On to healing. .. and smaller pants -
You are AMAZING! If you want to get to 140 there's absolutely nothing standing in your way. I'm so proud of you.

Post sleeve and head hunger -- what is it like for you?
Seela replied to Skywalker's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's exactly right, but you still need to make good food choices or in time the pounds can come back on little by little -
I just posted the other day that I'm learning to love my stalls. I have noticed, over time, that during a stall my skin really tightens up and even though I'm not losing pounds my size seems to decrease. I think of it like sleeping. .. it's when my body heals and gears up for another loss. When I'm actively losing my skin gets all loose and I don't feel like I look as good but during a stall my skin gets nice and tight and I know I look better. It also gives me some insight as to how my body will look at maintenance. Our bodies need time to heal and to catch up with our agendas. Stalls are a healthy part of this process.

Advice on dealing with rude, obnoxious father-in-law's comments?
Seela replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally, one comment like that and I would just say, I'm done, and leave. I have no tolerance for jerks like that, family or not. -
I hate to tell you this, but honestly there is no easy way. You just have to bear down and do it. Pre op sucks, it was one of the hardest two weeks I've ever been through. .. and I'd do it again in a second for the results I've had. You can do it, just hang in there and it'll be a bad memory soon enough.
