I have some size 18 jeans and pants that I won't be needing any more. Pm me if you'd like them.

I am a hair salon owner/ stylist and I decided not to keep my surgery a secret. I do not regret that decision. I do find it frustratingly interesting that people keep telling me that I'm not fat enough to have surgery! Really? Now granted, I'm not as "fat" as some but at 250lbs, bmi almost 42, size 18-20 pants and 3x shirts... I am damn well fat! "I just don't see it" I hear on a regular basis. Well, what's funny is that is always prefaced by "you look great" (of course I'm down almost 30lbs now). When I say.. well I have over a hundred lbs to lose... they simply say they don't believe me. Well.. if you're able to see my profile pic you might not see it either, but please know that I know the best angle to take my picture and photo shop is a miracle! When I (rarely) find myself in a picture with "normal" size people I am blown away at just how big I am.. it doesn't look natual. So.. rambling, sorry... my question is.. Do they really not see it? Are they just trying to be nice? What gives? Anyone else get this?

Please Help Me Wrap My Head Around This...
Seela replied to LipstickLady's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Lipstick. .. it's like you are inside my head (scarry)... for me it's the same, but different... I used to be so thin and fit. All growing up and through high school I was a gymnast. I got into modeling/acting at 18. It wasn't until I turned 30 that I started packing it on. I knew I was fat but I just couldn't see it. Even still when I look at myself I just see me. Selfies have become my only way to "see" myself. For some reason when I look in a mirror I don't see the enormity of myself, but in a picture it's like, Wow... is that really what I look like? I'm constantly asking my daughter if I'm as big as some other woman. I honestly don't know if that will ever go away but every morning I take a picture of myself in the mirror so I can clearly see how I look. I've never told anyone that before so it's kind of embarrassing. Even through all that I KNOW I look better and confidence has (outwardly, not inwardly) has never been an issue for me. Now.. with this experience I'm going through (being sleeved) I'm getting sort of glad that I'm like that because I think (hope) that I can use my weirdness as a tool to stay on track, hopefully to not get complacent. ... You've done such a great hob losing almost 100 lbs. And getting yourself in shape. Don't let your head get in your way of celebrating yourself and your accomplishments. Whatever"tools" your mind uses to get you there are valuable. -

Cw 218... 3 more days.. have upped my walking.. still have 8lbs to go so I'm gonna have to do some serious walking and bathroom time.. lol.. maybe I'll restructure my tg goal to 215 instead of 210. . That's only 3 more lbs and at this rate I'll feel blessed to hit that!

Ok...so I know my daughter, mother, friend, etc.. mean well but I am aware of what I can eat and whether or not I need a sip of water. It seems every time anything gets anywhere near my face I get questioned about it. It's starting to piss me off. But I don't want to be rude or mean because I know they are trying to be "helpful". What is a caring way to put a stop to this? I'm not always so tactful and with the holidays coming up I don't really want to tell everyone to go take a flying @$... thanks

Seela replied to GotItDoneInHarlem's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I'm 5 weeks out and I can tell you I truly do wish I had done this sooner. I'm only 32lbs down but already I can do things I haven't been able to do in years. I feel great and I look great too. I'm already not so embarrassed to just venture out of my house. It's the best decision I've made for myself in a really long time. Good luck -
I'm right there with you! Not even a minute of nausea. I have had a perfect recovery (5weeks). Although I'm so grateful to not have had complications I do wish something would make me sick so I won't be tempted to eat eat it!

How To Tell Caring People To Just Shut Up!?
Seela replied to Seela's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My issue is more like.. at dinner last night my daughter gasped when I took a small sip of water with my meal.. little stuff like that that is just starting to dive me nuts! Are you supposed to eat that? Is that ok? Is that too much? Is that all? Omg!!! If your that curious do some research and let me eat my dinner! Sorry for the rant. -
Yes, be grateful!

My favorite so far... "Well, I can't see a difference, I think you're gonna have to lose about 100lbs before it's really noticeable". Well thanks! Especially considering that's all I have to lose and I'm sown from an 18/20 to a 16! -
Congratulations! That's a car tire!

I've never been a runner but that's my next goal... maybe by the end of the year!
-
Omg... while I'm sorry you all are struggling I'm so glad to hear that I'm not alone! I haven't seen clear pee in 5 weeks! I still don't get how we're supposed to not drink for a half hour before during and after eating and still get all that water in while working walking and sleeping? ??
