Taste bud change?
Seela replied to SydneySweetHeart's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr. Told me that it's very common for taste to change after surgery. I didn't experience that too much but now I want pickles all the time and my husband always asks me if I'm sure I'm not pregnant. Lol... also I used to love ice, I had to have lots of ice in everything, now I can't stand anything cold. Weird -
During liquid and puree stage I thought I was gonna starve to death and now I have to force myself to eat. It gets soooooooo much better. Hang in there!

I'm two lbs from overweight myself, and stuck! So I completely know how excited you are. Good for you! -
4 days post op
Seela replied to AmandaMichelle7589's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone's plan is different. The misery of post op only lasts a little while in the grand scheme of things. Follow your surgeon's plan and don't veer from it. You trusted him/her enough to do surgery on you and forever change your internal anatomy so it's important to trust him now. -
Pre-op freak out! Help!

It's so normal! A lot of us turn into stark raving lunatics in the days before surgery. You've got this! -

Scale vs. clothes vs. how you feel
Seela replied to Bobbi McGhee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This early period is so exciting and discouraging all at the same time. You are probably doing everything just right and your body will catch up. For me it seemed like the first month and a half to two months I was a slow loser then BAM I lost a lot for another month and a half to two months then almost nothing for a month but I still went down a pants size then another 15 lbs the next month now slow again. Just when I think I've got a handle on it things change. Remember, it's a journey. -

Major NSV! Good for you! -
Funny, I posted about this months ago. I remember I could smell catsup from accross the room! For me it normalized after a little while.

Disappointing show, everyone still fat!
Seela replied to Seela's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This thread is getting out of hand. I was thinking about this conference as a sort of before and after pic. I plainly said that MY EXPECTATIONS were at fault. I didn't have as much to lose as some but I had 110 lbs to lose so I'm no light weight myself. All I was saying is I went for inspiration and I didn't find much of it. I don't know anything at all about any of their personal journeys nor do they know of mine. I wasn't judging any of their personal journeys. The fact is most of them were still fat and i wasnt "expecting " that. I'm sorry that that word bothers some of you so much, but i never considered it a bad word, because for me it just was a way of life. I feel like a lot of people on this forum are quick to start a fight but, sorry, I'm not gonna play. I've been on this forum for 6 months and mostly I given and received a lot of great support. Support is all I come here for so excuse me if I don't participate in being goaded into something more. -

I wasn't "looking at everyone's journey" I was making an observation. .. geesh -
So scared, someone calm me down

The larger incision is stitched to the skin and the muscle and as they dissolve or whatever they sort of pop and separate from the muscle. -
If I read your post right you are 3 weeks out? I think my recovery was pretty text book and at three weeks out, even though I was back to work, I was incredibly week, dehydrated, sore, grumpy and the weight wasn't coming off like I thought it would. In the days following surgery I felt improvement hour by hour, then week by week. It wasn't until I hit about 2months that I started to feel almost normal again. You'll get there.

Even though I was losing weight my size remained the same for a long time. It was 40lbs before I went down a pants size. Then I went down 3 pants sizes in 2 months! It's a strange journey. Enjoy the ride

Funny how fast I've forgotten... but I believe my stitches"popped" around 6 weeks but the pain did get worse for a couple of days just before. Once they popped that was it, pain totally gone like it was never even there. Over doing it can definitely make things worse. It's great that you are so motivated but you're so early out so take it easy and give your body a chance to heal. -
Lol.. we must have been posting at the same time

I'm so sorry that you're struggling. There are many on here who have had many complications, especially early on and they go on to be thrilled. I sincerely hope that you turn a corner and start to recover. Check out rjs/beginning. .. she's much farther out than you are and she is an incredible inspiration. My prayers are with you

Exactly. Thank you -
Oh thank God! You absolutely deserve some excellent news. I'm thrilled for you!

Um.. did your doctor tell you to follow the mfp plan? If you had the sleeve most doctors wouldn't recommend that many calories that soon for most people. Mfp doesn't take wls into consideration. Your anatomy is altered and therefore so must your diet be. I recommend looking through your surgeons instructions and doing a complete overhaul of your diet. Please remember you had major surgery and you can't take advice from an app.

I usually do too until I get "judged" for a disappointing observation.
