That's unbelievable! I was given the 50k price tag too, my copay was $1000 and much out of pocket maximum was 4k. I ended up paying all of it plus my surgeons program fee of $1500 so total $6500. You know darn well it doesn't cost 50k! Highway robbery!

OMG! Your story saddens me and pisses me off. I am so sorry that you are going through this. I hope after jumping through all the hoops you get your surgery and I pray for a great recovery and rapid weight loss! -
Two Years out: LISTEN UP NOOBS AND SEEKERS! *warning-harsh*
Seela replied to Dooter's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for posting this. I already know it but I think it's good to hear it often from first hand experience. I already know the future will be a struggle because it's a struggle now. Just gotta remember to keep on struggling! -
Cheating the consultation scale...

Me too. My insurance wanted a history of weight loss attempts but I don't think they actually looked into it. For me I put weight watchers, lost 40 lbs, gained it back. HerbalLife, lost 43lbs, gained it back, Jenny Craig, lost 10 measly lbs, gained back 15 lbs... seemed to be all they needed -
Body dysmorphia is a mean trick our mind plays on us. I've lost almost 70bls and gone from a 20 to a 12 and sometimes I feel more self conscious now than I did before. This isn't the first time I've heard this topic here so you're not alone BUT... wow! You are doing amazing, so proud of you!

That's great! I know at this point the last thing you want to do is exercise but a 10min walk does wonders

I returned to work after two weeks off and could barely get through one client without feeling sore and exhausted. Now I can work 12 hours with no problems. I don't have much left after a long day but I feel ok as long as I remember to eat and get fluids in throughout the day

Almost 5 months out, still borderline dehydrated
Seela replied to Seela's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I LOVE peoples republic of tea's Orange ginger mint... either drink that or water cut with g2 or poweraid zero. I have a pretty insulated cup/glass thing that holds wrong oz and my goal has been to drink 2 of those daily and anymore is bonus. In going to change my goal to 3... we'll see... -
It's so difficult to comment on someone else's journey but what I can tell you is that everyone is scared as they approach surgery. If you weren't I would question how serious you are. I have found that, after the first month or two, things don't have to be different for your family if you don't want them to be. Well, with the exception of the fact that you may not always need the house and car to be 68° and you you have more energy to play with the kids and you're snoring doesn't bother the neighbors any more, you know, stuff like that. I've said and heard it said a thousand time that the only regret is not having this surgery years ago... good luck!

Sigh, good to know it's not just me, thanks -
How long after surgery were you able to workout?
Seela replied to desig1814's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Walking within 2 hours of surgery but no other exercise for about 6 weeks -
This gets better little by little. Assuming you are post op a couple of weeks and only getting in a few hundred calories a day and probably not enough fluids it's to be expected. Hang in there, I promise it gets better

Uhg.. the dry mouth in the beginning sucks. I totally forgot about it so it does go away but it was really bad for awhile.

Great post... interesting and certainly explains alot!

If the pain is going into your left shoulder it sounds like gas pain from surgery. Try going for a walk

One of the things I like about mfp is that when you acquire "friends" you can see their food diaries and that helps me alot. Feel free to add me Seela13 -

Thanks for the advice everyone, I'm just gonna have to work harder to get in more water. I never thought at 5 months out that the water thing would still be so difficult -

Like I said, I lost my health ins. So no doctors for another two months. Im off my meds, and if you look at the numbers it appears I shouldn't be dehydrated. I think it's more that I'm not sufficiently hydrated. How much more does one have to drink before their pee doesn't look radioactive? -
Eating and Drinking
Seela replied to butterfly2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not everyone feels uncomfortable when drinking with meals. But it will cause food to move through your sleeve faster which increases the amount of food you need to eat in order to stay full which in turn can harm your weight loss efforts. -
Pain where chest meets tummy?
Seela replied to Jen40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds normal. I know it's really hard but try to slow it down.
